  1. Jesus, I didn’t realise they shot him as well.
  2. She was probably within her rights to just shoot him, she shouldn’t have mentioned the Taser, it makes her look incompetent.
  3. Absolutely, there’s no excuse for a mistake of that magnitude.
  4. Some Tasers are quite hand-gun like. Good points about compliance, like.
  5. Rich Rule is the man to ask about this, he has both. Can’t tag him for some reason.
  6. Amen to that Conor!
  7. @trigger_andy has just commented on this kind of thing on a different thread. I believe Big J knows his stuff as well, can’t tag him for some reason. Like @Johnsond, I nearly killed myself with whisky when I was a young pup, and can just about tolerate it 3 decades later. I’d quite like to rediscover some nice single malts to enjoy as a sipping drink. Rather than drinking nearly 2 bottles of Grouse at a house party and falling asleep in a bath. Which was quite handy because I spewed and pissed myself.
  8. Not today, Wednesday and Thursday on a dead willow over a moat at a manor house. Prep and fence dismantle and reinstatement took about 3/4 of a day! Von’s new GRCS is a total game changer. Macca dumped a few big bits in the moat which winched out with minimum effort. IMG_4981.MOV
  9. Although divorce is quite expensive these days.
  10. They look great. I really fancy getting one to mount above the fireplace.
  11. I think the general opinion of people on here who haven’t seen the job doesn’t matter a toss. Just take one of the prices you’ve been offered by people who have. Check details of qualifications and insurance (especially for the grind) first, obviously. Eggs has a point, London prices are steeper for a lot of the reasons he mentioned. £2k a day seems steep for a small crew anywhere though. Re the extension, don’t bullshit the structural engineer by pretending the tree was never there, though. That could end up being a massive false economy. Good luck with the job, follow up pics would be good so we can have further arguments. Don’t keep fishing for hundreds of prices once you’ve had a few from decent companies though, life is too short.
  12. Quite a character. RIP HRH Prince Philip. The world won’t be quite the same without you.
  13. I think the relevant government departments like DVSA etc. should be duty bound to HELP you in these situations and talk you through the process. Instead they seem more intent on telling you you are doing it wrong but aren’t exactly sure why. The grey areas exist because their regs are so convoluted. It’s a bloody disgrace, really. We are paying their wages.
  14. 1800’s tech, love it.
  15. It’s certainly possible, but I think licences have to be individually obtained from DEFRA. The GL rules were in a bit of a muddle last time I looked, thanks to Packham et al. The best solution for me is to have flexible ‘banker’ jobs we can drop onto so we don’t lose a day if we find a live nest. Incidentally, and I know it’s not technically legal, but we have successfully relocated plenty of live nests into retained trees in close proximity if the situation allows. It’s a common BS line that if you touch a nest the parents won’t come back to it.
  16. Do Treestuff ship to the UK?
  17. We’ve pulled off loads of jobs when we’ve found live nests, and had to reschedule. Certainly left trees and hedges in some very odd looking shapes! It’s a ballache, but the right thing to do. If I said there hasn’t been any collateral damage over the years though, I’d be a liar. You’ve just got to do the best you can, basically, and use a bit of common sense. If I was asked to remove a 60m line of large connies at this time of year, for instance, with doves flapping about in them, it’s time to talk the client into plan B.
  18. Nowt to do with the GL Paddy, all live birds nests are protected, regardless of species or pest status.
  19. Should be easy enough. A few years ago a couple of Norman soldiers were going to fell it with axes.
  20. Oh bollocks, here we go....
  21. Glad it’s all sorted fellas. We can move on to the Suez crisis now....
  22. Bugger, put it on the main forum.
  23. I reckon we can easily make £50/oz off Kev if we play our cards right.
  24. PM sent.
  25. It’s not single malt J!
