  1. The caretaker is my mate, who has specified no damage or his life won’t be worth living!
  2. I have a job to price that involves taking an oak down on a school field. The field has recently been redrained and surfaced at vast cost, so normal vehicular access is impossible. Can anyone give a ballpark cost of about 80m of metal trackway hire (including install and striking)? Essentially for 3.5 tonners, but also for a hiab wagon if possible? Not even sure if the school will allow it yet. Tree is straightforward, but there’s a lot of it! Thanks.
  3. It does indeed Mr. J….
  4. My local TO is a pretty good guy. When we have removed a TPO’d tree from a titchy garden it has nearly always been one of the 6 species that the general public have heard of. Oak, ash, chestnut, sycamore, lime and birch. All totally unsuitable for small gardens. TO has always been happy with replants of more suitable species. This also kills the cycle of repeating the problems that resulted in the decision to remove the tree in the first place.
  5. I got my mates boy the same starter kit as Connie because he’s her best pal and as an outdoorsy farmers boy I thought they would like to practice together, as he’s round ours a lot anyway. Unfortunately his kit arrived minus bowstring, which I’m sure Merlin will rectify tomorrow. They had a mini comp with Connie’s kit, then we broke for a dog walk. When we got back I gave him a quick go on my bow. He’s 7. A bit of a natural, last pic is after his 3rd shot. LA 2028? IMG_5680.MOV
  6. I’m still on Arbtalk aren’t I? So clearly not!
  7. I combine a few of the combined qualities of Mayweather, Wilder and Fury I think. I’m small, my boxing is poor, and I don’t have a massive punch. 👊
  8. Apparently he is pretty much like that as well! Brilliant boxer, also a massive bell end.
  9. Wilder was a bit of a spoilt brat after defeat wasn’t he? Fury has really grown on me over the years. Superb boxer rather than puncher, with a brilliant sense of humour.
  10. Mayweather is richer than McGregor.
  11. I’ve never seen a TPO stipulation that the tree has to be the same species before. Jules?
  12. Cheers for recommending this kit Muttley, that’s the one I went for. I’m really pleased with it.
  13. Package from Merlin arrived today. Great fun after work, 2 in the gold from 10 yards! Kit seems brilliant, and Connie Hood is well chuffed with her starter kit. Big thanks to @Gav73 for putting me on to Merlin.
  14. Brilliant.
  15. If you’re happy there mate, fair play, you’ve cracked it.
  16. Depends if you need 4x4 or not for the actual work and tipping off. Transit size trucks have a lot more capacity. Super/king cab is better for gear storage, but again reduces capacity.
  17. I’m not, if that helps?
  18. Cuntishness?
  19. I do feel sorry for the first timers though. Young couple - ‘Can we have a mortgage?’. Bank - ‘No, you can’t afford £500/ month’. Young couple - ‘We are paying £1000/month rent now, we can afford £500/month mortgage’. Bank - ‘Well how come you can’t raise a 15% deposit then?’. Young couple - ‘Because we are paying £1000/month rent). Not an easy problem to fix.
  20. House ownership is a privilege, not a right. Retired Climber has made a very valid point.
  21. Saved. £15k down on a £75k house. I had a good job then, like.
  22. I do, actually. Buy a house in the ‘90’s, like I did.
  23. Mortgages are back down to about 3 1/2 times annual income. If you’re on £30k you can probably buy a bathroom these days. It’s a big problem, and I don’t know what the fix is.
