  1. Got to be fanny, surely.
  2. Nice shape Jay, and I know you’re just a hired gun, but did the contractor not discuss Chalara with the Diocese?

Smashed hundreds of tons of conny no problem. As Matty said sharp blades are key. Don’t get me wrong, it’s no 12” Bandit, but still a very capable machine. You soon learn what needs snedding and what doesn’t. You will end up with a fair bit of cord, over 4” it’s on the stress a lot and productivity slows.

160 mate. Kept the pushability of the 125, but definitely an improved machine in several areas. My 125 did me very well though, till the nomads stole it.
  5. Not vigorously enough, clearly.
  6. Pfanners all day, Arborist or Gladiator in Type A. @Rich Rule is also 6’4” and he gets on well with the long leg versions.
  7. This is exactly my experience, it’s only a great ‘heater’ if there’s about two of you and you really like each other! Love mine though, had it for years. It will be getting fired up again very shortly.
  8. I know if a whippy branch gets you in the nuts it can produce far more than six consonants. Aaaaaaarrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhh!
  9. +1 for switching whenever it suits here. I loved SRT ascents immediately, but the first time I tried ‘working’ a tree with it I reckon I took most of the branches off by swearing at them! Keep at it Rob, it’s sometimes weird to get round the muscle memory of double rope.
  10. I make you right Paddy. As @Mike Hill says ‘There’s no replacement for displacement’.
  11. That’s a lot of technical climbing for sure Rich. Tidy result though.
  12. Nice work Matty. Glad you didn’t clatter Dad’s gravestone!
  13. Let us know how you get on with it Steve.
  14. Your tree, your land, your responsibility, you and your neighbours want it gone, no TPO. Why didn’t you just have it removed?
  15. Got you now, apologies Rob. Mine is also pretty basic, base tie, Quickie in eye choked, or retrievable with an alpine. Maybe I’m too old school! Link would be great.
  16. Why so old school? You at least need to get a pulley in there.
  17. Dids would nick the chain round here and weigh it in!
  18. Haha, I remember him telling me about it. Those black powder blanks are loud! No, haven’t caught up for ages, even before the madness. I’d love to see him again, he’s a proper character. Sorry for the slight derail Paddy. Some excellent advice on here, the more layers of security the better.
  19. Was that Mick mate?
  20. Gutted to hear this. His fight against Hearns was one of the best ever. RIP Marvin.
  21. Nice one Don. Like that tune, what is it?
