  1. Update on this. VFS were very efficient and after a call yesterday morning a new lowering solenoid arrived today. Fitted straight after work and the problem is exactly the same. Tips strongly, only lowers in on/off bursts. Also have to press OFF on the electronic control on the dash between raising and lowering, which I didn’t have to before. Now also weeping hydraulic oil (slowly) out of the top of the valve. What’s next? Before I take it to someone who knows what they’re doing!
  2. Haha, cheers. I’ll read it in the morning then!
  3. OK, maybe I’m a weirdo! PM me a link to your book can you mate, I am keen to read it.
  4. You must know some weird dog owners. There’s only one thing worse than picking up dog shit, and that’s not picking up dog shit. If you’re not prepared to pick up dog shit every day then don’t get a dog.
  5. I’ve got two labs and just let them shit in the house now, it bothers me so little.
  6. I shouldn’t take the piss, but I had a business meeting with @Retired Climber and @kevinjohnsonmbe earlier tonight. These are genuine pics from Kev leaving.
  7. I know mate. Good to have you back on. There’s not really much genuine malice on here, usually just crossed wires and different points of view. Quite often on Friday and Saturday nights…. 🍻🍷
  8. For sure. I always use the prop, and for anything major usually chuck a big round of timber or something under as well.
  9. Cheers Conor. You can only access the valve with the body raised. I’ll call VFS on Monday, see what they say. I’m happy to buy the loom, solenoid and spare valve if required (if they sell them).
  10. I can’t get involved in tonight’s argument because I’ve got half a dozen supermodels to get through with my 12” cock. On my private yacht.
  11. @eggsarascal is there any way to remove the solenoid valve to blow it through without pissing hydraulic oil everywhere? I cracked it with a spanner but after a couple of turns it started pouring out so I tightened it back up.
  12. The tipper is definitely a VFS. The have a replacement down solenoid assembley loom for £9.50, but don’t seem to sell the solenoid itself. Is this what I need?
  13. Good point Tom.
  14. Absolutely Steve, price definitely isn’t the overriding factor for the more desirable customers. I was just pointing out that I don’t think it’s true that everyone wins with the VAT game.
  15. Like Mr. & Mrs. Miggins who pay £1200 for a £1000 tree job with no discernible benefit to them whatsoever.
  16. Fair point lads. I doubt we’ll change it any time soon though. For the record I never said I was a VAT fan.
  17. That looks the very bollocks for big clear ups. Let us know how you go Mick. I know how it would go with me, badly. I would banjax it in about 4 minutes, I’m no machine operator. I have the touch of a rapist.
  18. The VAT man is pretty ruthless Saul. If you sit in the same chair to do the invoices for those three companies they’ll have your arse in a sling, and confiscate the chair. They literally have more power than the police. Retired Climber has made some very good points here. I’m on your side as well, why should we be tax collectors? BUT there’s the way it ought to be, and there’s the way it is. FWIW I think if every business was VAT registered, irrespective of turnover, it would level the playing field and simplify everyone’s lives in the long term.
  19. Cheers Bob. Am I right in thinking there are two solenoids?
  20. Nope. I doubt it’s grease Paul, ram drops quick enough every shunt. Checked the sensor switches that tell when the body is fully lowered and they seem to be working fine.
  21. Eggs diagnosis sounds a much cheaper fix than yours or Bogiemans, Dan….
  22. Opposite end of what?!!!!
  23. Surely if the bearing had seized it wouldn’t return at all though?
  24. Kirklands made a new body for me but still on original tipping gear. I THINK from VFS, but can’t remember 100%. Where would that valve be @eggsarascal?
