  1. Did jensen used to be sold through wessex years ago??
  2. Twin axles makes a massive difference. I have twin wheels on my cabstar. Nissan now fit uprated suspension as standard, and I had 2 tonne on once without any noticeable difference. you can retro fit some more leaf springs, just not sure where you get them
  3. I always lease a vehicle, its 100% tax deductable, I do it over three years, keep it a fourth wth no payments, then put it against a new one. Done it like that for 20 years now, and have never regretted it. Truck is always in warranty, with hardly any maintenence.
  4. Not sure about that. Someone else has said today that to sell logs you need to have had your premises inspected, random moisture testing and prove where the wood came from in the first place!! Still cannot find anything online so I ham hoping its a rumour started in a Pub somewhere and its got elaborated!!
  5. Ford own mazda I believe, hence they are both the same
  6. Deffo. I would never buy another ifor tipper. Its pants and way behind the likes of brian james.
  7. Sodium hypochlorite, liquid swimming pool bleach. Works for me. Get it on ebay
  8. I often wonder when going in blind to scrub with one of those, what happens when you hit a large lump of concrete dumped by a householder??!
  9. Nope. It was the only one to get stuck on the off road course, the claimed towing weight did not match the plated weight, plus it was the loudest, bumpiest on road, and not as fuel efficient. its worth mentioning that being an american company, they are used to building petrol engines and gas guzzlers. Diesel is not their forte!
  10. I work for a guy who tests drives commercial vehicles for a living and writes about them. Like many of the comments, the nissan seems to be the best quality, reliability, and best bang for your bucks. They had a bad batch a few years ago, but it was about 1% of their uk sales for a particular year.
  11. Might be worth popping to see each neighbour and have a brief discussion. Offering to take some of their cuttings away might make them turn a blind eye
  12. Not true, as youcan burn waste removed from elsewhere, only if the hedgecuttings have come from the land you are burning on. EA will come down on him hard. why not burn when the wind is in a different direction, or at night when the council is closed!!
  13. I agree. I wouldnt get a licence, as its only a sideline. I would just save it all for my own use.its like the chainsaw licence. Those who want it, get it, those who dont, wont.
  14. Two different sources have now told me there is the possibility that anyone who sells logs will have to apply for a licence from the ea, yet I cannot find anything online about it. As it came from two unnconected sources, mi thought this maybe another government money making scheme
  15. Been dead last few months. The odd bag here and there. Got 25 in stock, then out, but its only a sidelline, plus I can use them on my own fire now I am out of conifer!! Been a bad year, but auld and sundry are now selling logs. If the rumoured licence comes in, that might sort the wheat from the chaff
  16. Lets clear up a bit of confusion. The picture on the first lage of two machines on a trailer, are in fact two different models. The video of one working is the prof5, which is cheaper than the super proffessional 2000 which has just been redesigned and relaunched. If you saw the later in action, you will see its a far superior machine. as regard to wet conifer, if you shred with timber, it does not block. You can install a larger screen which is great for bulk reduction, better than dicing on the back of the truck. what remains to be seen though is how this new machine compares to the old. It was great having a conveyor to discharge the shreddings. Having a blower can only mean more blockages, and it takes power away from the engine. Can the new blower cope with a larger screen fitted for example. Now I have owned an eliet, I would not go to another narrow access chipper. They are superb
  17. Those jacks are ok, but if there is a large ball of concrete, the foot has to be further away from the post, pulling at an angle rather than straight up, so often the post snaps. Then you cannot do anything other than break it out. An engine crane does not have the same features, nor can it easily be transported. The post puller has been designed by a fencer, and has had several refinements over the years. There is even one you can power from a jcb beaver, and one with its own engine!!
  18. Spot on with your comment. Anything that saves your back!!
  19. To be fair, its that proce as it reflects the quality of the materials used, and there is no cheap chinese parts on it. I have the original design, and although its good, its not a patch on the new one. I am thinking of trading up. I think the ram is rated at 3.5tonnes
  20. Did you buy it from steve hawthornthwaite? I have one of his original machines, still going strong, but I had to add strength to the claw attachment as it bent. I have pulled a few stumps out with mine!! Great bit of kit, wouldnt be without it. Saved hundreds over the years.
  21. Sounds like the damper to me. They are about 30quid and take 15mins at most to replace
  22. It looks a heavy beast to transport, but I bet it saved a serious amount of time!!
