  1. Those bolt extractors from toolstation never work. you can buy some irwin ones from most car spares shops that are designed to remove rounded bolts.
  2. Are you supplying the woodchip for free?
  3. customer asked me as part of a hedge reduction, to cut this sycamore down . Luckily I stripped the ivy, or I wouldnt have seen the inside of the tree is full of concrete. my guess is the tree has grown round a concrete post, so chances are it will be felled to just above it. I will investigate with an sds drill and report back
  4. Its the ashridge estate, they have lots of money and lots of toys to play with, so why not play with them!
  5. The 320 is a skidsteer rather than a pivot steer. It will lift a fair amount, so it should be ok. There is one for sale on ebay
  6. Hi mate. Same thing happened to me. I brought a new shaft and bearings from hycrak, they were very helpful, and I did it myself. Its not difficult, and cheaper than a new machine!!
  7. Ha. Sneaky. I like your style! I am used to mechanical side of things, I am forever taking apart my crushers, with three on my hire fleet now, its a constant job. Just had to replace a crushing ram, and thats a fairly time consuming, half a day easy. I have the tools, and the lifting gear for anything heavy. luckily he will wait to sell it, as I have first refusal
  8. Mmmmmmm. Food for thought. I guess I need to cost things out a bit. Bearing will be expensive and not an easy job i suppose
  9. I have been offered an entec chipper, the 6inch, for £1000. Its a 1999, done 1600 genuime hours, but it needs work. It needs a new flywheel bearing, new blades, and from the looks of it, cpuld do with a paint up, some panels straightening, new mudguards. I think from what he said, the engine is sound, but needs a service and possibly a new battery, and some new leakoff pipe. I used it last when I hired it off him about 3 years ago, and for the last two years its sat gathering dust in a barn just wondering if its worth doing up, and if I tackle it myself, or give it to a specialist. any thoughts?
  10. No one has spotted what I have. Firstly, The council dont phone people up about this, they write, and secondly, its not their job, it comes under trading standards, who also write. there is some skullduggery going on somewhere!
  11. Can another dealer buy from you and sell it on with a markup?
  12. Thats not good fella, as I am in hemel. They wont be far away if they are on a bike. keep an eye on ebay
  13. You could do with a bigger bucket for woodchip ian!!
  14. Ah. Would you go for the other engine option, the kohler??
  15. Alpha Stump grinder 13hp,Alpha Stump muncher fitted with Rapid cut XHD teeth | eBay Are these any good for the VERY occasional use?? no one round here will hire a small grinder, so thought i might add this to the armoury so to speak. Teeth look unusual!
  16. They have a very basic lock that locks the handle so you cannot lift it, and a key that never works properly
  17. Hi. Did penny hydraulics fit that crane? Any idea on the cost of that?
  18. no.they have a barrel lock and a ball that you push up inside the coupling when its unhitched. You have to drill it out first to steal it a pry bar will do nothing Fit an indespension triple lock if you want to be safe. They have a barrel lock, with a spring behind it. drills dont like springs, and when I had my trailer nicked with the key and I recovered it, I had to drill the lock so I could hitch it back up. An hour later and several snapped drills, job done!! If I was going to steal a trailer, one without a barrel lock would get my attention!!
  19. jam a pry bar in the catch and it snaps the lock. Its a 5 second job
  20. Just stumbled on this thread. I recently brought a brian james, and its far superior than ifor. They are great to deal with, very helpful on the phone, and they have some neat design ideas. I would never buy another ifor again, especially as they are the easiest to steal.
  21. Lay scaffold planks down first. if that doesnt work, give up!!
  22. Have had this with a crusher. I jacked it up, slid a scaffold pole under each end and rolled it on them.
  23. Always nice to get a job where the chip stays on site!!
  24. Not sure about yoir nearest supplier, but the rolls are normally 25m long if that helps
