  1. What's wrong with one of the lads running him home or to wherever in the works truck then driving back? If it's a true emergency then it's far more important than losing a few hours worth of work.
  2. Lots of people with chainsaws and not enough trees to cut. Plus its easy for anyone to get a van and chainsaw, do all the easy stuff that are good earners for cheap and get a subby climber in to do anything that requires a bit of skill.I dont think it works quite like that with most other professional trades, well the better paid ones anyway.
  3. More pics of a man's helmet isn't something we should ask for imho.
  4. Now that's how you prune a tree. Nice vid thanks
  5. Truly is a shame but there's no chance the hedge will be allowed to stay like that. No doubt the council and high ways have seen it but turned a blind eye until the complaints started. It will probably be fine within a couple of growing seasons though. I wonder if anyone from on here will get the job?
  6. I think he's busy organising a protest march. Steve, if you need to raise funds by selling little cakes and things I can help, by suggesting you start a thread asking for help.
  7. I'm sure* that if you provide all the info then even if you lose your ticket they can and have paid people out. They know the exact time and place the winning ticket was bought so can easily ignore scam artists. *sure as I think I read it somewhere or someone told someone about it while I was half listening.
  8. Great stuff. It's the type of thread I like to see on here. If I had priced that up from a single first photo I would of really cocked up.
  9. If they have it in their head that that is what they want and will get it done then personally I would do it. It would be much better if you did it and did a good job than maybe someone else who might just hack it to bits. Yes 10 foot off the top isn't going to achieve anything except put their mind at rest. I would also make sure they were present while doing the job do they can see that you did indeed only take 10 feet off.
  10. I didn't think that was'legal' as it's public money your spending? Ie you can make it a requirement that companies work to such and such a standard but can't dismiss them if they aren't in xxx club.
  11. Now that has to be nothing more than a wind up. If your serious then I'm lost for words, which you wouldn't listen to anyway. I didn't realise they were just a pair of pants, I thought they had chainsaw blocking material in them that work in the way treequip has already explained which means that if you cut them and stitch it together it won't work as the manufacture intended. But yes since they are just a pair of pants go ahead and hem them.
  12. Please read the manufactures instructions in regards to damaging the blocking material on any pair of chainsaw trousers. That will give you your answer.
  13. yes because some bloke on the internet said it will be ok. They are obviously qualified to advise on altering a piece of PPE. Common sense says don't do it, professional advise would say don't do(just ask any MANUFACTURER) but a few people GUESS it will be ok so crack on eh. Why not look at buying some trousers that have built in elastic or adjustment at the bottom to keep them tight onto your boots, it might stop them dragging on the ground?
  14. Change the oil and filter for a start. Don't drive it if light keeps coming on, in fact I would get the oil and filter changed asap.
  15. Errr I wouldn't listen to that advice as I don't think that's a very good idea. I'm fairly sure if you start cutting or sewing the blocking material you may regret it later if you rely on it to stop a chainsaw! You can get some chainsaw trousers in short leg lengths, just look at some of the ads on the right.
  16. The 020T killed the silky years ago. Why use muscle when you can use petrol power!!!!!
  17. All male, all have some sort of problem linked with sex! Looks like Freud was right.
  18. Hhmmmm blacks on blondes, but yeah Roger the blonde wife, REF the dog, all the best JIM.
  19. Every day. But when I'm in the business for earning money... Don't people have no business sense.
  20. You must be TTP? Cheers for that little chestnut lads.
  21. That's possibly the silliest thing I've read for a long time.
  22. I ignored the first line of the op as it didn't seem relevant to the rest of his post. You can't compare the two, situations. Anyway what is TTP?
  23. To all those who think he over charged and should have done it for free then please put your money where you mouth is and do your very next job for nothing or next to nothing, obviously it must be a new customer. Surely his business is ran by charging people for his service and goods, that sort of falls down flat if he gives it away or does it for little or no profit?! Besides it's all irrelevant as she didn't have to go in there in the first place, what kind of idiot knows the cost of something, buys it then complains about the cost afterwards? Unless the cafe owner dragged her in off the street and made her buy it but that's a different story.
  24. So you didn't like the look of one machine and now the entire brand is garbage? Maybe it was a Friday machine, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Boeing produce them too. As treequip says that model will be made to target a certain market ie someone who wants the cheapest possible saw.
