  1. We didnt, we all died back in 1982 when someone ignored a "Hot Water, caution this water is hot" sign and this is just one of a infinite number of computer programs trying to figure out what size font should have been used.
  2. Well said. These are the customers you want.
  3. Could just be crossed wires. I would tell them it's going to cost x amount to carry out the remaining tree work(presuming you can't go back to the original deal) or walk away and put it down to experience. I've turned up at jobs before now where they have already had 100% of the work done by someone else but forgot to tell me. And that's after they have agreed for me to carry the work out , arranged a date and I turn up with a van and chipper to cut some trees down.
  4. There are cowboys in every profession. I bet you would get upset if you went to b&q and they wouldn't sell you a drill, circular saw, lawnmower, socket set, screw driver set etc.
  5. That goes without saying. Although I have climbed over 7 trees in my career so I do know what I'm talking about.
  6. Your wrong for two very good reasons 1. You havent seen every tree. 2 Ive been to a tree job were the tree has fell to pieces as ive climbed into it. Before you say it no im not a big fatty:001_tongue: In regards to 2, it was a seriously well rotted pop that stood there but for the grace of God. The top was pole sawed from a step ladder then it was pushed over, no damage to the conservatory or house and no accidents.
  7. "No job is too big, no fee is too big"
  8. I have seen a lot of very good climbers that arent and dont aspire to be super heros. There are trees that are unclimbable, you just havent seen every tree in every situation. More common are trees that are climbable but the job spec makes the work unachievable through climbing. Im not the worlds best climber but I havent came across many of the above. I have heard lads say they will pull the HSE card if they cba doing the job and I have seen people try and force someone to do something that they themselves could not do in a million years. Both idiots on the opposite side of the fence. I wouldnt blame anyone (who generally is good at their job) thinking in a certain situation that they werent happy and would rather give it a miss or do it differently.
  9. Yes completely the wrong way around. Its good to get advice from the internet.
  10. I know weird isn't it! They also don't like being poked with a stick, I mean what's all that about!!?
  11. That's a lot of voters! I read a statistic once that said if all the fat people in the world jumped up and down at the same time the world would fall off! Thank MacDonalds they are just too lazy. Btw I'm not ant fatist, there are a few funny ones.
  12. Ultimately it will first fall to the main contractor, then if you are a bona fide subby it will fall to you, this is in regards to an accident, in regards to a TPO problem I am fairly sure it will be the client and the main contractor who will take the blame. If your an employed subbie it wont be your problem.
  13. The fun police are right on your tails and your getting 20 years of hard slapping. Good on the guy for having a bit of a laugh, pity the crane company fooked it up though:laugh1:
  14. I like to warm my hands by putting them down the front of my boxers, you should give it a try. I can pop round next weekend if you like?
  15. I agree, brilliant saw. Some say the chain brake goes soft and it's a pos. I was looking to buy a new 3.5 tonner, every and I mean every 3.5 tonnner had major engine, chassis problems. If I had just read and believed to be true what was on line I would be transporting chip on the local bus.
  16. Completely the opposite Everyone likes to complain it was shite. The wosrst saws available are the 201, 540 261 and 550. Before that it was the the 200t, 346 and 660.
  17. Hope it is a good one. No disrespect but I will ignore any reviews because tbh ime it is pointless listening to other opinions.
  18. Could of been worth putting a children's in need honesty box there. Then pocket the cash and head down the boozer.
  19. I see anyone that tries to really haggle me down as a prick. I try not to be a prick, not saying that I always meet my own expectations though Seriously if I cant afford to pay for someones service or buy something I dont buy it, unless your in Turkey trying to get a pair of fake ray bans for less than £500 then I dont see the point. I have lost tons of jobs over the years for not dropping my price, i never regretted one of them.
  20. Typical demo with a straight bit of timber. Let's see it chip something bushy like some broccoli or a nasty bit of rosemary.
  21. Yeah and I bet a lot of them lied about how experienced they were. If I was an insurance company I wouldn't trust someone on the end of the phone telling me how great they are and that they have all the experience in the world, would you? I pay insurance not just for my sake but for the piece of mind that if I do cock up some other poor bugger isn't left out of pocket. If that requires bits of paper then so be it. IMO PL should be compulsory for all trades.
  22. Great idea and free! You will never be a millionaire this way mate:001_smile: Registered all the machines, will start adding the climbing and rigging gear as it is all serial numbered.
  23. Thinking outside the 'box' here but errm maybe spiking the pole and attaching the meat is a possibility.
  24. Have you tried sharpening the chain? Im not being funny by saying that but sometimes they can come from the factory poorly sharpened, I guess its when the grinding wheels go out of shape or something. Anyway, there is nothing wrong with 91vxl, OK the stihl full chisel is a lot better but as long as the saw is running right and the chain is sharpened correctly you should have no problems.
  25. I guess they are made in France then?
