  1. Sounds like it could be worth using a quality pattern part. Also use some gasket sealer on any paper gaskets too? Or, just do away with the fluids 100% guarantee not too leak then.
  2. That sounds good to me. It could be that they are saying steel attachment on rope grab to aluminium carabiner rather than just metal to metal? Otherwise how would a steel chain be acceptable?
  3. I understand where your coming from but I am guilty of doing too much cut and chuck when a quick but of rigging would have been quicker and easier. Do you not also think that because of the way your team worked it used to work of being a groundie with no saw you may have over the years got so used to cut and chuck that you can't see the benefits of rigging? Ie your a dinosaur mate, get with the 20th century at least. Maybe a rigging refresher course as I know you love getting all those licences Snatching on a pole is something I have rarely done over the years, that does seem to take too much time for to little gain.
  4. If your main concern is getting 5 days a week then contrary to internet belief in reality it will take you a long long time to achieve that. Although that all hinges on what you expect to earn in a day.
  5. The breaking strain is also reduced if ncr with a double braid rope. Although I hardly ever use pulleys but I do use a bull rope. A bollard is different though, I would never go back to using the old method of putting wraps around the stem.
  6. Looks like a good planting scheme. I hope they keep some money back for the after care though. Otherwise in 5-10 years time someone will be along to grind the metal barriers out and fell the trees. Did a lot of this over the years for our LA, no after care meant a very short lived expensive loadfof trees.
  7. You need to find where the diesel is leaking from and sort it before using the truck again as you could do some serious damage. Modern high pressure diesels do not like air leaks at all.
  8. I am, it's just funny watching people getting wound up when someone doesn't like the saw they use. I agree in part about the transit but in regards to the stupid weight limit we need to stick to, makes all 3.5t trucks fairly useless if used legally in this industry. I've only ever used very old dolmars (sachs ones) which long time ago and an echo also a long time ago. So I couldn't comment on if the recent machines are any good or not.
  9. Forum would be a bit boring without a good old which is the best chainsaw debate. There would just be more threads asking how many fingers I am holding up with spin off threads asking how many fingers should I be holding up and what are the best fingers to hold up. The reason stihl and husky seem more unreliable is because there are more of them in use and people only usually post when they have an issue imo. Look at the Ford transit, in reality a good truck used and abused by loads of people daily. If you only believed what you read on the internet you would never buy one. If you can't get your twist cap to work properly it's either faulty or your using it incorrectly.
  10. Far better than the old screw types which on certain machines seemed to self tighten. A little tip is to push the cap in before you turn it.

That's because we, sorry they usually pray on the ederly. No disrespect to old codgers, they are just more trusting than most. These scum don't represent any industry or race, they are just thieving scum.
  12. Crew neck. Polo is uncomfortable for me when wearing a jumper.
  13. Not if your stuck/sucked into picking the same numbers. The lottery know people stick to certain numbers, therefore they can exploit them. Therefore it is technically a con You do have a choice, you just don't control 100% of it.
  14. Surely he should run a few dozen threads and put a couple of polls up first over the next 6 months before parting, or not parting with said cash? I say get it fixed and don't put it on the tool box again, it is just a bit of glass you know. But yeah, we have so much stuff stored in our phones it can be a bit silly really. Brilliant pieces of kit through, I can't really believe what you can do on a phone!
  15. I'm not in the right frame of mind to repack in again, I have a wheelbarrow full of excuses atm. Good luck to all those that give it a go.
  16. I quite like deadwooding large trees, mainly beech. Only when there is time on the job to relax, move about the tree and do a good job. Doesn't happen very often though.Makes a change from the bish bash bosh we usually do.
  17. Your telling me that you went out and just bought a mars bar without running a couple of polls asking which is the best handy sized chocolate snack and where to buy it from? Madness!
  18. Well there's something I didn't know! Thanks for the info:thumbup1:
  19. Seems to be lots if threads about waterproof jackets atm. I remember watching a program called tomorrow's world. They had this magical material called goretex that repelled water but allowed sweat out! Surely someone can make a jacket out of it, it's hardly rocket science, or is it!
  20. Have done it for years and has never caused a problem. If it did cause a problem you would see a lot more knackered machines about.
  21. That stuff sinks! We just use whatever oil is easiest to get eh.
  22. I just can't see the logic in that at all. Good on him for making a successful business, but as for not spending the money! No problem in running old equipment if you look after it and it is still economical compared to the cost of something new. I would rather have the cash than invest it in the business if I can help it as long as the business and me isn't suffering for it.
  23. If your worried about your zigzag do as I've been doing lately, back it up with a prussik. You have all the efficiency of the zz and the safe and reliability of a prussik. that way when your zz finally implodes as they all do the good old prussik will still be there to save the day. Added bonus that using two climbing systems makes you twice as fast.
  24. I've got to agree with that, plus the comment about the bow saw v chainsaw.
  25. I'm thinking, Ron Jeremy's stunt cock. But yeah, balancing on half dead connies blows that out of the water every day of the week.
