  1. Yes a real shame that quite a few old members have left, especially Dean, Mick and Lee as already mentioned.
  2. So did the beano get it right all those years ago with the numskulls? I have read a bit about the free will argument. The most important thing I can see is that through experiments it looks like convincing people we have no free will can have a very negative output. Ie people care less about there actions towards others and about life in general. Plus I don't think we can or should condition ourselves to accept that people have no control over their actions and therefore cannot be held responsible. I think there would be a break down of society long before we could change things for the better. Apparently there have already been court cases were defendants are saying that because they have no free will they shouldn't be punished for their crimes. Imagine if that was allowed to happen?
  3. I think I must differ as I could see some serious negatives. Not being able to take account of our actions doesn't bode well I think. I dun think wet have s choice Anyway, I would like to say have a great new year but deep down you already know if you will or not.

    2018

Enjoy and have a good 2018 as 2019 will be here before you know it!
  5. I can see why it is a good idea in other countries or county's where there is snow come the winter but no good and a waste of money in places where they aren't needed. Are winter tyres better on black ice and do they perform worse on dry roads?
  6. It does sound a bit all matrix to be. I think free will isn't that important themr
  7. Been reading a bit more on the free will theory, not enough. Trying to understand the concept. If we have no free will then why should we bother to mediate or suggest to others that we mediate? We are just all playing out some big game so me suggesting that we all just smoke some crack because it is better than dmt is ok? Never tried the above but I bet crack is fairly good.
  8. Maybe with our help they can better 14. Bit shit really, was hoping head of state would be wealthier than that. Surly its a good idea to better ourselves. So let's not spit at those in the lead.
  9. Free will or extremely powerful hallucinogenic drugs? I'm sure there is some kind of contradiction of terms here.
  10. I think that the amount of people thinking about where their money goes when they buy a lottery ticket amounts to no moe than about 5. Everyone else is thinking if they will be a millionaire in the morning. Who cares where the money goes, if you want to give to a cause then do it, otherwise have a stab at never having to work again.
  11. I will have to read some of your previous posts otherwise I will probably be going over old ground. Wether we have free will or not to say prevent someone becoming a paedophile ever becoming would require so much information that I don't think it would ever be possible. Everyone would not only have to be scrutinised and monitored from birth but so would their parents, their parent's parent's, the forming of stars and back to the beginning of time, not possible surly? Most people commit crimes not because of necessity but because they don't give a fuck. Saying they have no free will will just give them another lever. It is mind boggling to say I have no control over my life but you do have control over my life. I say if we truly have no free will then are we really alive? We are no different than a computer program. We may as well be a computer simulation, which quite a few clever people think is the case, therefore why waste time trying to diagnose and fix broken criminals. Just let chaos reign. I think you only have to look at how brilliant the world is due to us humans to realise that whatever it is we have or perceive we have is something special. Maybe we can't call it free will but it is something. Btw, I don't think it is anything supernatural. Surely we are aware and that's all it is.
  12. I think quantum mechanics would disagree. Ie we can only predict the future if we know the speed and position of every particle which isn't possible. Therefore I do believe we have free will as nothing is already determined which it would have to be if we had no control over our destiny. God does play dice. Surly our actions are based on memory and natural reactions. If someone truly lost their memory surly that would affect their 'free will' I would also think that chaos theory would have some say in not having free will. If every one of our actions is already determined then how does the unknown constantly happening affect that? Maybe we don't have free will, it's just that it is constantly changing? Maybe I can't change the future because it is constantly changing. I suppose we will never know, so it doesn't really matter, therefore we should just hang thieving scum as it will make our life better, which considering the shortness of it is very important indeed.
  13. Looks like karl pilkington was right all along, what a mucking genius! I understand the concept but I don't agree. If we didn't have free will then I think our past would have made the future so dim that we wouldn't excist. If we don't have free will then we can predict the future, do you think we can do that? I think that without some kind of control we would all be war mongering psychopaths'.
  14. Now thats how to live life!!
  15. I have section felled plenty of lombardys, wind is always a concern no matter how you dismantle them. Looking at the vid I would not have felled that tree as it was too windy. You would have had to have a proper winch facing more or less into the wind to pull it over.
  16. Oh dear God. Here we go again It's my fault a load of kids were raped because I think it's ok to allow some foreigners into our country is it? Jeesh that's a stupid thing to say! Actually no your right, your a genius. I think all dogs should be shot and none allowed into the country. Just think there will be no more toddlers mauled to death(around 200,000 dog bites a year, around 1,500 of those to children) no more permanently scarred people from dog attacks, no more kids losing their eye sight from worm infections spread through dog feaces and imagine how nice it would be not to have to drag brash through that same grasp. Good idea hey? There is nothing of worth to reflect on in your statement. Go on tell me all those kids who died at the Ariana Grande concert was my fault too. And please don't make matters up, I have no undying love for other races, I don't think we should just let anyone and everyone into our country without proper back ground checks, I don't think anyone should be able to hide behind their colour and be able to shout racist. I just don't believe we can blame everything on other races as you have done plenty of times hence a lot of people don't like what you say. I agree with you on some of you idea's but you do yourself no favors at all. Yes let's have some control on who enters the country, let's deport illegal immigrants and those who threaten our way of life or who want to change it for the worst, I agree with that. If it was up to people like you I would not have some of the friends and family I have. Can you reflect on that at all?
  17. I agree. Its just that there are also a lot of racists jumping on that bandwagon. People who have a genuine concern about immigration should make sure that they dont get caught up with those who's only concern is immigration as it doesn't help their argument.
  18. An awful situation but then I live in a different world from them so my perspective is no doubt quite different. Im sure plenty of other times cops and hostages have been shot due to not reacting quickly enough, I also think if someone pointed an automatic weapon at me I would do exactly what they said which unfortunately that guy didnt so can you really blame the copper for shooting him? I think the way the video looks ie it seems like the guy talking is the shooter which makes it look worse than it was. I think the fact that they walked over him shows there was a far bigger situation going on. I wouldn't want to be a cop here or in the US, respect to them all, except the bent ones, obviously.
  19. Well cost obviously depends on the tree! Of course it costs money, a lot more than the owner who wanted it out is happy to pay I bet. Yes, all tree should be inspected regardless if they have a TPO or not, I suggest your parents speak to their insurance company for their recommendations of how frequent. I dont think it is a legal requirement though. I know more than a couple of customers who have had the insurance refuse to pay due to not carrying out regular inspections. You are comparing apples to kiwi fruits in regards to listed buildings etc, you get plenty of benefits from it and land owners get plenty of use and benefits from their land. A tree getting in the way of a home owner enjoying their much loved and costly property is not benefiting them at all. Not sure about the protected wildlife thing, I didnt realise most people needed to shoot stuff.
  20. It is indeed sad to read and thought to friends and family. No disrespect but I doubt pressure was the cause. I only say this add I have witnessed the exact same thing twice, thankfully both near misses due to someone on the ground making themselves heard! One was a college student, no pressure just inexperience, the other was a climber of 20 years plus who was just doing his job but didn't think for a moment. That's all it takes, a lapse of concentration for a moment, just like driving a car, one wrong mistake and boom, game over.
  21. Quite few steady mentioned plus. The edge of tomorrow. Avatar Knight and day Easy watching, feel good movies, if you want something en vogue then maybe the piano or chocoate or some other drivel along the same lines.
  22. That is because you are not a psychopath. Those people are, they have no feelings and no morals. So technically most of them need treatment, I think they need hanging so bring it back.
  23. Yes, if someone wants to build a nuclear power station in their back garden then maybe the authorities should step in and put a stop to it but when someone wants to remove just a tree that they did have the right to do but someone else decided they shouldn't have that right then no, the authorities should not dictate what happens to the owners property. Especially considering that the owner is now going to have an ongoing unwanted expense for something that is also causing them grief while everyone else just gets to enjoy their tree for free, doesn't seem right really! Well in that case no, I dont think it is right if the owner does not give consent, but that is a far cry from a listed building to just a tree. Lets not forget that property is usually the most expensive asset most people will own. To have dictated to you what you must do with that asset when it is purely only for the good of others is IMO ridiculous. I agree with the other comments that TPO trees should be maintained from the public purse as supposedly it is in the public interest to retain them. I have removed plenty of tree that the owner has had enough of and decided to get rid. Quite often it has been edrly people who neither have the time or the funds to pay the ongoing expense of maintaining their tree. Now, if said old lady wanted her tree to be cut down due to the fact that she has recently lost her husband who used to clean up the leaves and can no longer afford to have a yearly inspection and maintenance program and I turned around and not only refused to do the job but then applied to get a TPO put on the tree what kind of a cnt would I be? Does any disagree that they would be a morally wrong thing to do? The above has happened to me on more than one occasion, well in regards to the widowed old dear wanting the tree down, I didnt think twice about doing it let alone try to get them TPO'D! TBH, it doesnt really matter if the owner is a recently widowed old dear, anyone trying to put a TPO on a tree that isnt theirs and the owner doesnt give consent is not a nice person, i refrained from using the word cnt instead of nice person as its nearly Christmas. If any one wants to try and convince me otherwise then please try, I may change my mind, im not that stubborn.
  24. Jeesh, no wonder it is called crypo! Anything that is that difficult to use is open for abuse imo. Banking is simple and paypal is simple, both will insure me if they get hacked into, does bitcoin do the same? If this kind of electronic currency becomes the norm then I expect the current banking system to fail which means no more banks which means no more cash. From what I have read a cashless society has many negatives so I can't see this being allowed to happen. I think I will stick to banking, better than keeping it under my mattress, one break in and I would be ruined. Easy access 24hours a day which can be accessed anywhere in the world, what more could you ask for!
  25. That depends. Do people buy a non listed building then someone else decides it should become a listed building?
