  1. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/society/2018/jun/29/nhs-wields-the-axe-on-17-unnecessary-procedures It's not like that vast majority of those operations are performed on the working class/most deprived of society.
  2. Yep it's a very strange situation. Very easy to make arrests, all the offenders are in one space and aren't hiding. So what is it all about then? Is it a case of PC to the extreme causing Mr PC to do nothing but stand and watch? Im sure if I broke into an office and started trashing the place I would be arrested and locked up in no time.
  3. That is sickening. Thieves are scum that need hanging, thieves that destroy and defile for pleasure need a bit of water boarding before hanging. Why can't the police just move in straight away and arrest them? Why do they have to have these"powers" to do anything?
  4. That's old news. Sigourney Weaver was doing research into that years ago. That's why she went to Pandora. Didn't do her much good in the end though!
  5. I suppose it all really comes down to numbers. In 20+ years of tree work easily 95%+ of customer complaints have been down to gypsies ripping them off, I guess thats what most others come across hence the negativity towards them. I certainly dont tar everyone with the same brush but im not stupid enough not to be on my toes when required.
  6. I would of thought it disappears quite quickly once the saw hits a bit of timber. I bet if you really llooked into it ie with a microscope and studied the effects of washing a chain or just using it you would find no difference worth noting. I remember being taught to knock the burrs off the chain with the back of a wooden file handle. Never could be bothered after the greenhorn stage but I can see that logic in it. Each to their own though, whatever works best for you I suppose.
  7. I would be interested to know what percentage pay their income tax and NI?
  8. I would be soaking them in oil after washing them in petrol. Tbh seems like a complete waste of time. What is his reasoning behind washing chains in petrol?
  9. True, maybe he has a koi carp pond in his back garden.
  10. Sounds like you need to build some upper arm strength but forget a prussik and move on to more modern methods ASAP. Arm pump is caused by a constant grip, grabbing too hard for too long. Something experience by motocross riders. (Insert a never ending line of sexual innuendos here.)
  11. Its not the same kind of job though is it. You price for one man including his tools per hour plus travel time. A tree job can be a lot more complicated than that.
  12. Ditto to the above. Don't give a day rate price it's the worst thing to do (generally speaking)
  13. Looks like a good idea providing it's stable enough. Handy if you don't have the space to store, buy and insure two machines etc.
  14. With all this talk about taking the customer to court is there any evidence that the op would win? It's not like a price was agreed before hand and the customer isn't paying. I would think they would say tough luck, and that you should have agreed a price before starting. I would just chalk it up to experience and move on, not worth getting stressed or wasting anymore time on it.
  15. Having to die is probably my biggest peeve. After that it is probably those who don't work for a living. ( exempt are lottery winners and people born into money) everyone else should have to do a bit to survive. I don't expect people to jog back from the chipper or do a 126hr week but I do expect them to carry their own weight.
  16. Don't be fooled into thinking that saying positive things means anything, it doesn't.
  17. "If one is not prepared to die in the process then I don’t think one can reach out to it." Planning to possibly die while at work is surely the least positive thing in the world! If you are working as hard as you say you are then good luck and I hope you get everything out of life you want. If I had to be in work 124 hrs a week I would top myself.
  18. What happened to Matelot? Did he not survive the 'cumming in his pants' saga? I guess his mum saw that thread and thought enough is enough and banned him from all after school activities.
  19. high standards to have you see us as the absolute choice 'to have' doesnt seem like proper english to me. "high standards show we are the absolute choice" maybe?
  20. Use the phone a lot to browse but always prefer the pc for responding, emails, quotes, anything that requires typing really. Would be interesting to see how the age groups differ in this subject.
  21. They don't need the deposit to get some skips do they? Tell them to get another firm to do the job and move on. Like many others have had quite a few oldies try to pay up front but never take any money until the work is completed. That way you can blag them into paying more as the job was bigger than expected
  22. Iirc lack of oil changing causes the problem down to low oil pressure from old oil resulting in in the hydraulic chain tensioner not doing its job properly.
  23. Oh dear! That couldn't have ended well! Hope he was ok.

    Another loss..

Where is the dead floating rabbit? Click bait blag.
  25. Unless there is a zip up the back I reckon a good chunk of life and therefore working day would be wasted lacing those gay, sorry bad boys up and down. Shirley someone over here has tried them and can compare them to your good old standard men's boots?
