  1. So its OK for someone to be climbing around a tree while Joe public wonders underneath it?
  2. As Mick says find a remote woods and practice there with a spotter. Surely its a no brainer why you shouldn't climb in a local park and I agree with it.
  3. I think 3D printers are starting to take off, looks like a lot of plastic right there. At least I have saved loads of turtles over the last couple of years by re using shopping bags.
  4. Will have a look at those proved conspiracy theories so thanks for sharing Flat earth people, truly scary that there are people who are that stupid walking among us.
  5. I cba googling it. Just wondered if any of those crazy wacked out theorys have ever been proven right. It's like ghosts, aliens and the paranormal, never one true shred of evidence, just lots of blurry videos and crazy ramblings.
  6. Phew, thank God for that! At least we now know climate change and peak oil will never be a problem. Serious question, has a conspiracy theory ever been proved?
  7. Just tell them you sub your hedge work out to this guy.
  8. It would be interesting to get an idea of their rates when quoting for private work. I would imagine they could provide a very cheap quote as surely all their overheads have already been paid by the tax payer.
  9. Sort of relevant but I just wanted to use this meme. If you google "How to under price a job" Wiki quotes "Try cutting a conifer hedge for starters". There are only two people who in the history of gardening, landscaping and arb work havent cocked on a hedge job, one bloke who hasnt priced that many jobs and another who works for peanuts. Lots of good advice but this sounds like the best "If you’re pricing against other people on jobs like this it will go to the company who fucks up most. I’d go high and make sure it’s not you." 10. The joys of alzheimer's. That guy has the worst camo gear ever, I can see him a mile off.
  11. I will hazard at a guess that whatever you buy will need reproofing/ specific washing/cleaning or treatment at some point to keep it waterproof. I Bet 100% the above gets missed out hence why a very good and expensive jacket is doomed to the its a a POS pile. Ive used a few of the Helly Hansen jackets, very thin, light and are waterproof. They do loose that waterproofness but they are usually minging by then. Has any fcker mentioned that real men dont get rusty yet? Sniff.
  12. A blast from the past for me
  13. With a strap line that says it is the worst smell in the world and you should open the tin outdoors means a big respect to anyone who even has a sniff never mind a taster.
  14. It wouldn't surprise me if the big big firms welcome and also try to enforce these types of policies. It's far easier for them to implement them in return forcing the smaller guy out as he will struggle to comply.
  15. You make it sound like it's a bad thing? How else are they going to get a bit of aerial rescue practice unless its time for a smoke break(never take your cigs up a tree they get crushed)? I regards to the question about pre tying it on, I can see the point for srt but not for ddrt. Come on, we are not only talking about 10 seconds of someone's working day we are also taking about someone get pissed off because they don't want to do their job. I hope they bloody well jog back from the chipper too.
  16. If a groundie couldn't be arsed tying my saw on there is no way he would last 12 months! What else would they be doing that is more important than looking after their climber. I see it as part of the job, fuel the saw while I go up then spend 10 seconds at the most tying it on.
  17. I await the responses to that post!
  18. Ah, didnt see your post saying you got it working, what was the issue causing it to lock up?
  19. Are you sure you haven't knackered it when you put the flywheel on? Surely they will have ran the saw up to test it.
  20. Thats nothing. Imagine one of these looking your way
  21. Medlar, also known as the dogs arse. Now what you do with your tongue is your own business thank you very much.
  22. Those Boston dynamics robots are cool but a bit freaky too. When I see those clips of the guy poking it with a stick I bet we are all thinking the same thing, yeah one day mate it's gonna turn around and get ya. The animal robots look all wrong, the way they move is just plain scary!
  23. TBH, never really used a handsaw apart from my early days. It is either chainsaw or kick it off for the vast majority of jobs, The odd time we use a handsaw/polesaw it is a very nice alternative.
  24. I disagree, its an upgrade from the Tupperware box I would normally use for my miniature horses. Cardboard, better for the environment you know, although horses always prefer plastic if the truth be known.
