  1. Indeed! Worth getting it checked for dead wood as they are brittle enough anyway. Not that the last bit needs to be of concern but it is worth getting an inspection carried out.
  2. I certainly wont disagree with that. There is enough information out there to show how to wear them properly, although you would think common sense would prevail in actually using it to cover their mouth and nose.
  3. You mentioned something about links before you edited your post. Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) WWW.CDC.GOV Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a virus (more specifically, a coronavirus)... Q&A: Masks and COVID-19 WWW.WHO.INT There have been medical experts who said we should have had face coverings from the start but the lack of ppe soon put a stop to those suggestions. Depends what you read and who you believe, there will always be arguments for and against. Look what happened in regards to measels due to ant-vaxx believers.
  4. Well yes! I think it's best to take advice from the majority of professional experts rather than just someone who has no expertise in the relevant field and just decided that they know what's best. I'm not sure how that can be reasonably argued against tbh.
  5. That's old news, things have changed a lot since then. The CDC and WHO amongst many others recommend wearing face coverings, surely they know best?
  6. Hence the problem with this novel virus. Its an unknown. Why are children not super spreaders when they usually are? Why is your mate still alive when other healthy people of his age are on incubators? I guess in few years time we may know the answer. In the meanwhile wear a face covering, social distance and not get hell bent on thinking its a conspiracy to do what.........?
  7. The point ref the virus and comparisons to other diseases was clearly stated as worldwide not UK alone Fair enough, which disease can we do more about? A lot of people in S Africa die of malaria and HIV, what effect does that have to do with me wearing a mask to shop in tescos to help prevent me spreading a disease as I dont understand? If you want to go down the Road of preventable illness and protecting the nhs you could ban tobacco use in the UK tomorrow. I’ve never smoked and hate the habit but would not advocate a ban as if people want to smoke it’s not my business, but as has happened to myself and other FAC holders over the years with control and bans etc, if it doesn’t effect people they don’t care and gradually the level of control is increased usually all in the name of keeping the public safe Well, they did ban smoking in public places to help prevent others from suffering which does affect people and was a very good move, and I am a smoker. You couldnt ban smoking without banning alcohol, you couldnt ban those without banning unhealthy food, there are limits. Sorry, I dont know what a FAC holder is. The reaction based on the numbers and statistics are totally out of proportion In respect to what? In the countries that have done sweet FA the numbers are still rising, those that have implemented stronger restrictions the numbers are lower. That is my opinion based on what I’ve seen, read, studied and experienced first hand. As stated in another post I was part of the DMT response earlier in this so called pandemic and would have supported measures based upon the initial information that came in, I also dont know what DMT response is either. Scottish figures for example are virtually zero but the grip of control by the SNP is being rigidly kept hold of. Maybe to keep the figures down? If in 12 months time the USA is clear of covid and business is usual then im sure we will follow suit as I presume the UK government wants us out and about, spending money as usual rather than sitting at home saving money and sponging off them.
  8. Yes. Surely its not hard to believe that there are a lot of arseholes out there. We have seen plenty in our industry, in real life and social media. Monkey see monkey do. Idiots attract idiots. No doubt the chippy owners and the tourists thought it was OK as Mr in charge didnt give a fook. A member of my family works on a covid ward, she has came down with a lot of nasty diseases over the years due to poor hygiene in the workplace. She was saying the way people die of covid is horrible to say the least, but yet staff who treat these patients still disregard simple rules, used clothing just thrown about the place instead of placed in specialist bins, lack of cleanliness and a simple disregards for others. Just because some people act like they dont care doesnt mean its the right thing to do. How many bent coppers are there out there, how many corrupt judges take a back hander, how many site managers take a brown envelope and cut a few corners to keep their boys in a job?
  9. Simple, you get arseholes in every occupation.
  10. Just normal people doing an everyday job working in a distribution centre. One would still be alive and the other living a normal life if it wasn't for covid. I doubt the out come would of been the same had it been flu. Seems to be the problem atm, it spreads quite quickly and is far more deadly than say the flu which is the virus most people compare it to for some reason. bollocks to wearing a mask or social distancing just to prevent even a common cold or the flu what kind of pathetic existence is that Missed my point on that one. Masks and distancing for covid will prevent the spread of other diseases that's all. Of course it would be pathetic to do that just for the common cold or flu. Just must have been fuming when the controlling elites of society started pulling our strings and told us we should sneeze and cough into our elbows. ? "No bloody chance, I will cough and fart how I bloody well like!" Which other viruses are causing more problems in the uk then?
  11. The pub thing is just to get businesses up and running again, wouldnt work if you had to wear a mask. Kids dont seem to be transmitting the virus to either each other or to adults so they are a very low risk. So really its not a big ask to wear a mask and it cuts the transmission rate a lot, doesnt stop you catching it but it helps to stop you spreading it. Thats not just stuff ive read but info from my mrs who is involved in the research of covid.
  12. I’m on a job with two 16 man teams and no one on here knows anyone personally whom has died from the virus A few of my cousins co workers had it, one died from it (age46) another now has to have dialysis due to shot kidneys (age 51). no one gives a shit about many of the other diseases or indeed common flu that kills thousands every year There isnt much that can be about a lot of disease as they are already well established hence the big push to try and control this one, but, social distancing and wearing a mask will no doubt slow down the spread of say the flu, common cold etc this year. What about the ire of the person who has lost everything they have worked for for 35yrs due to ludicrous Government over reaction. A huge problem no doubt but better that than dead, or dealing with the grieving of lost loved ones.
  13. I guess the moral of this thread is its best to follow what the manufacture states regardless. Lubricating a bolt affects the torque fairly massively from what I can see, something I never realised before reading this thread. I always thought it best to lubricate the bolt, looks like I need to be more careful in the future. As previously mentioned I do give the blades a tap to check if they are cracked.
  14. I will keep believing those who are professionals in their field. Those who are still saying we should have locked down earlier and we should still have tighter restrictions in place, these are medical experts who advise the government but their views fall on deaf ears as the government want us back out at work. You just keep believing that everyone is out to get us. I would rather listen to experts than someone down the pub who just uses their 'common' sense. Over 11,000,000 infected and over 500,000 dead, imagine what that would be if most of the planet wasnt isolating for the last three months, 10 times, 100 times more?
  15. 190,000 new cases yesterday, compared to 160,000 last week, seems like its climbing to me. Im talking globally mainly due to those countries not who arent imposing a proper lockdown. It is declining in the UK for now.
  16. Ignore him, he said if there wasnt more than 50,000 cases in April it was a hoax, we have 10 times that amount now and still climbing at a ridiculous rate.
  17. Fook off! I think they would be better lobbying to get it made compulsory, at least then they could pull the 'Bigger boys made me do it card'
  18. Apparently pubs can open from 06:00 tomorrow. I can guarantee by 12:00 there will be a lot of people not using common sense! I think I will be side stepping pubs and restaurants for quite a while yet. Tbh I feel sorry for the bar staff, I wouldn't want to go back to work if I was them.
  19. Which one made them wear lycra, he must really, really hate cyclists.
  20. You are just so woke.
  21. No,no,no ,no no. All those stupid rules are in place just to supress and control us, it's got nothing to do with saving lives and keeping medical costs down ? Those in power get an endorphin hit every time someone belts up.
  22. Fair enough, I'll just put this theory in with all the other conspiracy theories then.
  23. ? I give up. You call my comments rubbish then dont explain why yours arent! Hmm, every government except Brazil and USA have got it all wrong then, what silly Billies they all are.
  24. Enlighten me then. How does crashing the economy and causing very expensive long term health issues benefit the government at all? What are they controlling without mentioning vaccine, Bill Gates and microchip in the same sentence. I would really like to know what this control is, why are they doing it and how are they benefiting from it rather than send us all back to work, get taxed and spend our money to net more tax? Genuine question. Every government is trying to control this new virus much to theirs and our expense except Brazil and the USA which seems to be going quite well eh. If your numbers are that low then they must have done something right, just like New Zealand, until they let the Brits back in ?
  25. Ha, more talk of control! People sitting at home, getting paid and not spending money in the high street is not the type of control governments want. They want you back in work and out spending money, if there is a lot of dead workers that doesn't happen. In China life is cheap but they need a lot of people with their nose to the grindstone, hence the strict lockdowns to save lives.
