  1. Maybe the reason is that if we just did nothing and went back to how we lived in January the outcome would be far, far worse than it is now. I don't believe everything the gov tells us I just believe the majority of experts who say that this is a big issue.
  2. Not to mention Amazon, I bet Jeff has done quite well out of it. I remember reading awhile ago that the UK tax avoidance specialists stiff the UK of around £400 billion a year in corporation tax, that would help rejuvenate the magic money tree. Some of them get a rebate which is in the 100s of millions. Nothing wrong with people making billions, someone has to but those £50 million squid yachts, but they don't need to have the funds to buy 10 of them because they don't pay tax.
  3. If the person isolating develops symptoms then the rest of the household needs to isolate. They are trying to control the virus rather than stop it. The guidelines should be a lot clearer though.
  4. Is it a hoax, no. It holds no water just like the flat earth and fake moon landings conspiracy theories. 1 There needs to be a reason for the hoax, flat earth non at all, fake moon landings maybe a super power race but if it was fake the Russians would of quickly shot that down. Covid 19 there is no reason what so ever as it benefits no one. 2 As Mr Bolam said people cant hold their own piss never mind a secret. Someone once said 'Three people can keep a secret if two are dead' There would be millions, tens of millions involved in a global hoax, how long do you think they could keep that up, 1 or 2 seconds maybe. Nope its real and hopefully not as bad as we think it is but since every government around the world is shitting themselves I err on the side of caution for the time being. I guess that those who dismiss this a bollox havent had a family member or close friend die or have had life changing complications due to the virus.
  5. Crazy talk nothing less. If 90% of the population died the other 10% would soon follow by either starvation or some virulent disease contracted from a dirty telephone
  6. Hmmm, I know of two people who 'survived' covid 19 but now have long term illnesses, they are in their 40/50s. One has high blood pressure the other has shot kidneys. The odds don't seem that favorable to me. I don't know anyone who has had something like the flu and ended up on dialysis.
  7. Well one percent of us are Psychopaths so it's no surprise really.
  8. Its the new flat earth, moon landings, JFK bandwagon. Bill Gates wants to track us ALL with his new vaccine? Yep, im sure Russia and China would have something to say about that. One day these people will realise that they have been fighting for a cause thought up by a 14 year old with a twitter account.
  9. And the moral of that story is don't have any friends, life will be happier....
  10. Sad news indeed. I had never met him but he always came across on the forum as I good guy. RIP.
  11. I was thinking today, I wonder if grandad stuck his bottom lip out at wearing a face covering during the war, apparently not, and great grandad didn't either during the Spanish flu and that was well before 1984. Wearing a face mask is not new - but the backlash against them is, say historians WWW.GOOGLE.COM Attempts to invoke the Blitz spirit may not be wide of the mark as research shows... Bloody snowflake generation.
  12. Youre only recommended to wear them while out shoping you know, not while watching the tv with the wife and kids.
  13. You can feed a family of four for fairly cheap with a pizza, crisps and fizzy drink from asda. I agree with the laziness though. Good food usually requires a bit of planning and some effort, I'm more than guilty of a fast food night instead of cooking.
  14. Hopefully it will be cheaper in the long run, less fat people less cost to the nhs. It's just far too easy and cheap to eat unhealthy.
  15. That's the most sensible thing you've said for a long time. You rebel you.
  16. Post that one if you can as I dont think I have seen it.
  17. Just be certain that it is a hornbeam and not a beech!
  18. OK. It doesnt sound nice for that person but do you think it is then OK for them to put others at risk due to their condition? I think not, maybe they should be on sick leave or something along those lines for the sake of others, otherwise it makes a farce of the whole thing. I'm sure there are plenty of people that will have genuine problems with wearing a face covering, maybe they can wear one of those plastic face shields or they may have to adapt to the current situation by not putting themselves in situations they cant physically deal with. I dont know but there are usually some remedies if you look into it hard enough. Look at self preservation and how you can adapt to it. Ive heard a lot of people complaining that they cant breathe properly through a face covering (these are people that dont have lung conditions) , yes you dont breathe as normal but you can breathe its just a bit weird. Have you seen how many fat nurses there are out there that wear a mask? ?
  19. Apparently its not for some bizarre reason!
  20. Cant you just order online then and have it delivered to your home? Its not about catching the virus its about spreading it. If you are a super spreader and dont were a mask you can spread it to a lot of others, thats a fact. Im not going to put a link up as there is enough info out there to those who want to read the current facts.
  21. Just put it on and dont mess with it. Transmission through touching things then yourself is extremely low, so I would worry less about fiddling with your mask than actually wearing it. The whole point of a face covering is to stop the wearing transmitting the virus to others, if we all wore them when in close proximity to others then the R rate would drop which would help us all in resuming business as usual quicker, which I guess most of us on here would like to see. I think wearing a face mask is a self conscious thing more than anything else as it doesnt feel natural thats for sure! I'm hoping that if we all do our bit then the economy can get moving quicker rather than see a lot of local lockdowns which will happen if there are spikes. I was speaking to a local neighbour today whos Mrs had it back in late Jan (late 30's), he didnt get it or his son but she now has high blood pressure as a result so its not all about catching it and surviving it is also about the long term affects. She was only ill for a couple of days with no cough but flu like symptoms.
  22. That's a video that I won't tire of watching.
  23. Stop crying over nothing ffs. I've been out shopping today, I wore a face covering along with everyone else and didn't see anyone having a strop, I then went home. It couldn't be much simpler. Have a quick think of why you don't need to wear a mask while eating or drinking, then think is it better to move the economy along or not. If you want the economy to kick start then you need to accept the current guidelines. It's not rocket science.
  24. Have you asked him why it has jumped up to 8 hours work from 4? If he can break it down and it seems reasonable then I think you should pay the cost and move on. If it doesn't seem reasonable then you could argue against it but as others have said it's an estimate, always best to get a quote for everything.
  25. Surely that also works the other way round too, BS protests from people calling others sheep and idiots for conforming to current advice. Saying they lack intelligence because they listen to experts rather than make their own mind up. I dont run a medical research laboratory, how else am I supposed to 'decide' if wearing a mask has benefits or not if I dont listen to those that do the research. Anyway, each to their own. I'll be wearing a mask where required, if people think I'm an idiotic sheep for doing so then so be it, not all of us have Supergran powers like the above
