  1. I got a job making these tables for a guest house round the corner. Again this was off the back of the cafe. Also for same guest house am making a 4 poster bed and block side tables.
  2. Looks really good Billy. I have a website with quite a bit of stuff on... needs updating but I've found by far I've had more referrals and interest from this cafe than anything else I have done.
  3. The best thing about wall hangings is you can make them out of bits of wood that would not be much good for anything else.
  4. A few more... not taken in good light so not great quality pics.
  5. Last year in September I did some tables for a cafe in Brockenhurst, Hants. Some they bought off me and some are there to be used by customers and are also for sale. They get 10% commission on all the furniture and 20% on wall hangings. It's an arrangement that works well as they are open 6 days of the week and people can see and use the furniture in situ. By far the best sellers are the coffee tables and medium size wall hangings as these fit in peoples cars. I've sold about 12 items through them now and compared to doing anything else have found it the least hassal way of selling things. As soon as a coffee table sells I just drop another one up there.
  6. This time over and we've put in some steps down from the decking so it's quicker to get out and about. All done with cedar and macra carpa. Something very satisfying about building with timber you've milled yourself.
  7. Seems like a long time ago that I put that decking down. An update to the job so you can see what it looks like now. Very little movement at all and it's all stayed put.
  8. Have you got any picks of the 6x6 as beams in the barn conversion? Cracking sized log
  9. I've found beech to have the best 'stay on bark' properties to date..
  10. It's a good question and I look forward to seeing the answer as I have no idea! I would say that acceptable debt would be linked to profit rather than turnover though.
  11. Excellent vid Mark. Nice to see a young lad doing something healthier than sticking his head in a plastic bag + pot of glue!
  12. You could get lost in there! Great post!
  13. Looks good and improves on the first one
  14. I've got a 211 and it's not a pro saw. I got it to demo/use the oregon powersharp system. It doesn't seem to like aspen fuel much (although I haven't sat down and tuned it yet) and seems to leak a little bar oil from somewhere. I'm not really that enthusiastic about it at all really....
  15. The filter issue is one that Stihl needs to address in it's larger saws but they'll never listen to us little folk! . I remember first getting a 441 and each time I checked the filter there was hardly anything there milling or otherwise. If that system could be adapted for the 880 ideal.
  16. Nice Ray. It's great to produce things for friends and family but as time goes on it's time to start easing into selling stuff.
  17. Looks good. Keep us updated with further pics. Yep nothing like lugging the mill onto site, milling all day for a good nights sleep!
  18. Nice work again Ray. You'll start to get asked to make things for people soon if you haven't been already
  19. Nice pics
  20. The Stihl full chisel for the 200t is the new Picco Super 3 (PS3) that stihl have started to do for this year. Part number is 3616 and it's in the 2011 Stihl catelogue.
  21. I've got skip link .404 in ripping chain and square ground. PM me if you're interested.
  22. See if someone near you has a bigger alaskan and you could go halves on the timber produced?
  23. Oooooo that looked nasty
  24. Sounds excellent. I'm hoping to move out to Sydney eventually.... but it's a few years away yet. Good luck!
  25. Saves the mess! Forgot to put this mini stunt fell up the other day. Featuring John Shutler. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9n2w1kDBkUI&feature=youtube_gdata]YouTube - Mini stunt fell[/ame]
