  1. Forget the climbing stuff and sell a lovely range of chainsaw bars Failing that sell what they are already selling but in a better way and be the best at it.. branching out into climbing stuff (when they know little about climbing stuff themselves) seems bit random and a good way to dilute their business.
  2. Hi Mick is it this one?
  3. Finally got round to taking pics of this - 100th Anniversary set ONLY ONLY for large Husky saws so: Fits the following chainsaws: HUSQVARNA 61, 64, 65, 66, 70, 77, 160, 162, 163, 180, 181, 185, 260, 263, 266, 268, 272, 280, 281, 285, 288, 298, 365, 365XP, 371, 372XP, 380, 385XP, 390XP, 394XP, 395XP, 562XP, 575XP, 576XP Click here or below to find it. You get a thermos flask with TSUMURA on it, a couple of Keyrings, custom engraving on the bar mount - and a few of these have a Carbon Fibre in fill instead of resin (only around x6 have this and if you get one I would advise not using it as could be collectible one day!‘ No.1,No.11,No.22,No.33,No.44, No.55, No.66,No.77,No.88,No99 and No.100 will be special bars’). To my knowledge Tsumura have not done anything like this before...Use code 100TH  as a coupon code to get this anniversary set for the same price as the bar alone. I don't know which bars have the carbon fibre insert but if you get the No. 1 bar I'll swap you x3 of the generic bars back for it!

  5. I know Black Friday tends to describe from now until before Christmas - but either way we'll be doing some deals over the next couple of weeks. Panther Mini Mk III Bars now in stock - for Echo find the bars here - Echo kits click here or if you have a Makita saw (as Echo and Makita share the same mount on the smaller saws) find the bars here and the Makita kits here. One minor fly in the ointment is that the 16"[40cm] bars need 78 drive links and the 18"[45cm] bars need 86 drive links [rather than 80 and 88] hence they are discounted. The next batch should have the correct number of links.. Offer 1 - buy ANY new style bar or new style Panther Mini Mk III Kit and get a FREE Oregon file handle and guide 1/8"[3.2mm] PER BAR ie. buy any x2 bars get x2 free file handle and guides so on and so forth you get a file handle and guide with each item you buy. Activate offer with code MINI at checkout Breaking and mending chain - it can be a lot easier and cheaper to make your own chains.. Offer 2 - buy ANY reel of Panther, Stihl or Oregon Chain (click here to find them) and we will give you a FREE breaking and mending kit. Activate offer with code REEL at checkout That's all for tonight more to follow...

  7. As we look at building the new website - it'll be more limited in chains we offer as although it's great to have a good range it can be bewildering and keeping stock is hard work... the Panther chains have generally gone down well but we have x4 variations where we should really only have one so in future the below chains (other than 1 or 2) we won't keep stocking because: Mainly folks like the non safety or unguarded chains The P+ chains with top plate marking see to have worked well so we'll only do these in future (apart from in 1/4 .043[1.1mm] and .325 .043[1.1mm] as these are too small to make the process viable) So the below chains we need to clear out - will do for 50% off as long as you have a few - 60% off if you have a lot whatsapp me on 07752145001 if need more info - ideal if you can work out what you may like to buy from the part number - number of drive links a chain has is at the end of each SKU. Yes a little bit a daunting list 😬 I can't seem to copy and paste it on here so that it appears correctly.. Excess Chain List CSB June 2024.docx
  8. It's quiet on the supply front as a knock on effect - and more noticeable on chainsaw mill sales and carving equipment sales which are less essential items.
  9. We don't really have any .050 bars in at the moment as still waiting for the next Sugi order to come in.. May get the Oregon speedcut version listed as an option soon.
  10. Yep possibly - we may keep the Advance HD bar on second thoughts as the only offering..
  11. It's my kind of hell too but got to be done! We won't lose any of the Sugi white bars - but I was thinking of discontinuing all the Oregon laminated bars like the versacut/control cut/advanced cut (maybe keep the speedcut) and also discontinuing all the Husky bars as not sure what they really add. It's only then you tend to lose customers who find the website based on that particular brand of bar.
  12. Other things in the mix - reducing the range of bars and chains sold to make things easier - we'll be having lots of sales soon of all the stuff we want to lean down..
  13. We're redeveloping the Chainsawbars website for various reasons (I won't bore you!). What do you find easy about the existing? And what hard or awkward? Sprockets I was going to change that so they appear all on one page per manufacturer (but without pictures) and with less choice as Oregon now do so few sprockets.. This would look more like this - do you need pictures of sprockets (there would be a page explaining the different types)
  14. Don't you have to also 'set' the teeth as well as sharpening? - is that an easy process - not even sure it's a necessary process but I heard that's what bandsaw blades needed. I think it means the teeth need to be slightly off center going left and right.
  15. Thanks Steve - no these won't fit the T540i... we only have the Panther mini versions for that - but they are not very good quality.. can do you a few bars though as we are doing deals on the at the moment to clear them.
  16. The Stihl 3670-71PM3 Mini and the Panther 1/4-043 Mini chains seem to lift as they go round the nose - so on the Sugi bars you have to use the Sugi chains which is not ideal. Why is this? For no good reason I could find out as it doesn't make sense to have bars that only run one option of chain as it means that people can't run what they want to run... also the Sugi drive links differenciate from Stihl so Stihl is 56/10" 64/12" 72/14" which is great as even number of left and right cutters. Sugi is 60/10" 68"/12" 76/14" And a last downside is - Sugi only make the 1/4 .043 bars in the Echo mount. Other than that they are a better bar than the Panther Mini bars currently are. But no 10" in stock for a few months at least Sugihara Mini Type bars - Chainsawbars WWW.CHAINSAWBARS.CO.UK
  17. Yep agreed they need to be better - we still do the Stihl bars though - I prob need to put kits up on the website to make it easier to buy for the Echo 2511 - you can run the 10"/12"/14" Stihl 1/4 .043 bars and as you said add an extra drive link and this allows it to fit to the Echo 2511 and oil correctly.
  18. We had to move to a new manufacturer for the Panther Mini and sadly the quality became inconsistent - we've now got Tsumura making these for us and the first batch should be ready in around 10 weeks or so. The principle of the bars is great ie - you can run 1/4 .043 mini chains on pretty much any small chainsaw. But that's no use if the actual product does not last... we'll be doing a good deal on remaining bars to clear them.
  19. Ideal will look through that.
  20. Cheers John - am goingto give NE a call next week and see what they say.
  21. Is there anyone knowledable on areas that are deemed SSSI and how that impacts what you do on them? Say for instance if there was a lake - do you need permission to put in a pontoon or have a boat? Are there further requirements in terms of things that need doing when it comes to woodland management. Thanks in advance for replies.

  23. A few people have said this - I'm with the NFU which seems to work well and not heard anything yet... it's hard to keep track of it all!
  24. Oregon prices have not jumped as much as I thought as they got all their webshop prices wrong.. they have still gone up but really hard to work out how much as varies across the range and they may still have it wrong! Red Sea issues have caused delays of 10-14 days and there is some sort of surcharge but again - hard to work out what it is they will tell me when they bill me!
  25. Yep and saying that they have improved manufacturing efficiency does sound a good way of saying it.. i'll remember that one!
