  1. That's a good point - and longer items have gotten pretty silly now and I've been reading about fuel charges - just another way for the couriers to make money. We may have to charge more for the longer items but likely we will keep it simple so that regardless of where you are everyone pays the same.
  2. True Joe but that would be the end for us if everyone did that as we are internet only. Also - we stock around 10 times the range of bars and chains any local dealer would have [as well as a lot of other stuff]. We don't look to compete on price but on what is in stock and range of product as well as hopefully service and back up.
  3. Thanks for the feedback - and your business Yep I think if we make it obvious seems to be a common theme - even if you don't like it you can then go elsewhere without filling in all the nonsense at checkout before knowing. Simple clear rules mean less overall cost and easier for you the customer to understand - even if you are not happy about them!
  4. Yep I think at least if it is at the top of the page and obvious the choice is then yours.
  5. The products we sell are so varying in size and shape it's too hard to do - we tried - and died 😬
  6. We are using a fulfilment center now and they have minium fees per order so it's pretty hard to ship small items with a tracked service. I think £4.95+vat across the board is a simple rule and is fair for 96% of orders.
  7. We can't send a rim sprocket by 2nd class stamp as if it doesn't arrive you will rightly complain and expect us to re send it. We can likely sell a small chain or fuel cap that way as risk is less. I think we charge £4.95+vat regardless of whatever you order - we now have a fulfilment center so min we pay is around £3.60+vat regardless if that is a £1 item [that is Royal Mail Large Letter untracked]. Thanks for the feedback it's very useful.
  8. We may have to start bringing in postage charges again as in these modern times of 'fuel surcharges' 'out of area fees' 'over size item charges' we need something towards these.. The difficulty is - people hate paying postage. The larger orders generally cost a lot more to send now - we seemed to get a good all in one consignment rate before - not so these days and the long mills we are paying a lot to get packed and over to people. Used to be around £12-14 and now we are paying £40-£60. We have tried all options by the way in terms of all the main couriers - they all have their strengths and weaknesses. So anyways we will likely be adding a £4.95+vat postage charge to all orders from now on. Feel free to add comments below [it is after all why I posted this!]. We used to get so much grief of 'it only costs £1.50 Royal Mail you're ripping me off!' but we have fulfilment now which means more efficient orders - but they have set minimum order charges no matter how large the order.
  9. Last chance to make use of the expanded loyalty discounts on Chainsawbars - we're going back to standard tiers Friday Weds next week. 10. Have started to add more Dime Kit carving kits to ebay where you get the sprocket/chain/bar Ebay is pretty good when you need to list a lot of options that would otherwise clutter the website up with product listings: cannon+dime+kit for sale | eBay WWW.EBAY.CO.UK Find great deals on eBay for cannon+dime+kit. Shop with confidence.
  11. You can go to a 24" bar on a 50-60cc saw but you may want to switch then to 3/8 chain and skip link.. though that said we will be getting some .325 in skip link in full chisel at some point in the near future. But in essence - no one saw will do everything well.
  12. What size trees are you looking to cut? Likely something with 50cc-60cc and an 18" bar would work. You can then change the bar up if needed.
  13. With regards which chain works the best - the only way to find out is above - try and few chains and then decide which chain works best for YOU as that then becomes the best chain. We should prob add things like the Bosch saws into the selector really.. will have a look at that.
  14. We're going to start setting up carving kits on the website to make it easier to buy carving kits so that you get a bar/sprocket/x2 chains Stihl and Echo are the preferred carving saws mainly because Husky can be a nuisance to source 1/4 drive sprockets for and also you often need a gasket as they don't have a plate in the side cover CBW-30000 Cannon Bar Mount Gasket WWW.CHAINSAWBARS.CO.UK CBW-30000 Cannon Bar Mount Pad - Stops Bar Oil Seepage. 15. The idea of the Panther Five O range is as follows: All bars are in .050[1.3mm] including the mid sizes .325 and 3/8 bars Bar lengths give equal left and right cutters for a smoother cut Chain size is equal across different brands so ie. a 12” bar for a Husky T540 XP will have 44 drive links AND a 12” bar for a Stihl MS201 will have 44 drive links AND a 12” bar for an Echo CS-362 will have 44 drive links. Same for the .325 and 3/8 bars [3/8 bars will go on Stihl saws and also Husky saws with a 9mm to 12mm adapter] Only x3 chains sizes required 3/8 lo pro .050[1.3mm], .325 .050[1.3mm] and 3/8 .050[1.3mm]

  22. Hi Mick - is that .325 chain? I spent 3 hours trying to square file 325 chain [it was a few years ago] but I'm not sure it's possible - the angle you have to hold the file means you hit the top of the chain tie straps or there is something that blocks it. I had same shape as you got. It should look more like below - more right angled. Cracking vid here - and mega expensive files here if you're still keen! But I think you need 3/8 or .404 to get a true result. Flat files - Chainsawbars WWW.CHAINSAWBARS.CO.UK Click here to go back to the chain sharpening tools menu
  23. I think the EXL is new materials - it's a little harder to sharpen but seems to be popular. DPX is the semi chisel and has been around for a long time.
  24. Yep it's a good point really - if you said a file per chain and the chain is already fairly expensive..
  25. Yep I know what you mean - but at least this one will stand out! Start writing to them maybe - as in theory it should be fairly easy to do - the top part of the chain is the same. But maybe they want to keep it for themselves for a bit.
