Has anyone dug deep into (or is there a thread on here) as to what are some of the best vehicles that can be put down as a commercial but are also practical as a day to day run around. Still seems a little of a grey area. I want a vehicle that I can use for work - still to the school run - and get the tax back as it's classed as a commercial vehicle.

Have you checked the drive sprocket or drive rim? Do you dress the bar regular? Highly unlikely to be the bar oil you are using ie, I give it 2% Let's see some pics of the chain and bar and drive rim pls
-
Not sure we have any bars that fit but D276 is the mount and that bar in above pic is running 3/8 .050 But I'm not sure how available these bars are not to be had in the UK
-
Sent a customer a bar for this pole saw and Husky seem to have reversed the powerhead mount?? Like it is left handed or similar. Any ideas why it would be like this?
-
It isn't a sprocket nose bar is the issue. Is it this one the Stihl Duromatic 47" bar? It always has been an issue with that bar - chain tension can never stay true - I think it's an archaic bar for when you had the 070 and 090 etc and they never used to rev that high. With the MS880 and MS881 it gets hot and then chain tension is all over the place - it never stays right. We don't sell them for this reason.

There is a huge variance in what you are sending and where you are sending it and how it is sent. Virtually impossible to work out or to find a median without a lot of time and work - which then needs to be costed in somehow which can then become counter productive. We like selling to our US customers so it's really not as simple as that.. Now and again we get stung - it hurts - but we have to take it and move on.

I was reading more about fuel surcharges earlier - a lot of the fuel surcharges the couriers charge are not consistent or in line with fuel price rises. And they make it hard to see exactly what they are. And even if you see differences who do you complain to? You go to the rep and it's 'ah ok I'll ask about that for you!'
-
It won't cover all the costs but towards them is good enough.. Check out this from UPS - we sent a long bar at 299cm to the USA - their max length is 270cm so the charges are very hard to take.. all in their terms and conditions. These are all additional charges apart from the original quote of £197.45. Thanks for the feedback
-
Yes they do in our case.
-
That's a good point - and longer items have gotten pretty silly now and I've been reading about fuel charges - just another way for the couriers to make money. We may have to charge more for the longer items but likely we will keep it simple so that regardless of where you are everyone pays the same.
-
True Joe but that would be the end for us if everyone did that as we are internet only. Also - we stock around 10 times the range of bars and chains any local dealer would have [as well as a lot of other stuff]. We don't look to compete on price but on what is in stock and range of product as well as hopefully service and back up.
-
Thanks for the feedback - and your business Yep I think if we make it obvious seems to be a common theme - even if you don't like it you can then go elsewhere without filling in all the nonsense at checkout before knowing. Simple clear rules mean less overall cost and easier for you the customer to understand - even if you are not happy about them!
-
Yep I think at least if it is at the top of the page and obvious the choice is then yours.
-
The products we sell are so varying in size and shape it's too hard to do - we tried - and died 😬
-
We are using a fulfilment center now and they have minium fees per order so it's pretty hard to ship small items with a tracked service. I think £4.95+vat across the board is a simple rule and is fair for 96% of orders.
-
We can't send a rim sprocket by 2nd class stamp as if it doesn't arrive you will rightly complain and expect us to re send it. We can likely sell a small chain or fuel cap that way as risk is less. I think we charge £4.95+vat regardless of whatever you order - we now have a fulfilment center so min we pay is around £3.60+vat regardless if that is a £1 item [that is Royal Mail Large Letter untracked]. Thanks for the feedback it's very useful.
-
We may have to start bringing in postage charges again as in these modern times of 'fuel surcharges' 'out of area fees' 'over size item charges' we need something towards these.. The difficulty is - people hate paying postage. The larger orders generally cost a lot more to send now - we seemed to get a good all in one consignment rate before - not so these days and the long mills we are paying a lot to get packed and over to people. Used to be around £12-14 and now we are paying £40-£60. We have tried all options by the way in terms of all the main couriers - they all have their strengths and weaknesses. So anyways we will likely be adding a £4.95+vat postage charge to all orders from now on. Feel free to add comments below [it is after all why I posted this!]. We used to get so much grief of 'it only costs £1.50 Royal Mail you're ripping me off!' but we have fulfilment now which means more efficient orders - but they have set minimum order charges no matter how large the order.
