  1. Thanks for popping over to say hello Axel. I was a bit knackered and under pressure to pack up or would have chatted longer!
  2. Good to meet you and your grandad today Liam Nice to put a name to a face!
  3. Why not just add the post to your other thread? I doubt you'll get anyone to buy the wood unless it is at roadside and you can guarantee there is no metal in it. If your lucky you may get someone to clear the wood for free...
  4. Makes good outdoor furniture - durable and light. I'd quote a day rate for doing the milling and then the customer can change their mind and you won't be under pressure.
  5. Interesting technique and not seen it done before... That butt still drops down pretty quick though despite the strap of wood at the top. Hats off not sure I'd have the balls to do that. (As previously said) I'd get a line up and just winch it down.
  6. Maybe it wasn't the Stihl HD system I had then... the inside sponge didn't fit well so may not have been a genuine HD Stihl. But have you tried the saw with a standard filter Tom? and then changed to the HD?
  7. Well done for finding - great vid. Someone who really knows his stuff!
  8. I do have sympathy! We all have to keep gear somewhere and some have no choice but to leave locked in a vehicle. Sorry to hear about the theft
  9. Has anyone tried these from Baileys? Bailey's - Max-Flow Air Filter Kit for Stihl 084 and they also do these Bailey's - Air Filter for Stihl 044, 046, 066, 088, MS 440-880 I may get a few in to try next time I order from them. Looks like in the first one you have to replace the cover. Can't see how it would increase air flow that much but like all these things worth a try!!
  10. I'll buy one of those as soon as they are ready for sale!!
  11. Polytunnels can go up to 40 degrees C + in the summer... get a bit of breeze going through and you can't really beat it for fast cheap drying.
  12. If you could find me some 'tasty' wood round your way Mick I'd hire you to bring it down to me. But would only be worth it for the rarer type woods because of the distance.
  13. All in bags and I just cover the bags using small tarp and bungee customers they loves it!
  14. That's brilliant - made me chuckle!
  15. I expect by that stage he was starting to feel a bit scared
  16. Nicely done especially if you weren't feeling that great I expect Mark was a very close second by probably tenths of a second.... but is too modest to mention it!
  17. That is some nice stuff indeedy - loverly colour and very small amount of white sapwood. Looks like there is no shake either? I would definately ask for £40-00 a cubic foot. No less. So your planks are 2.33 cubic foot per plank at dimensions given so would be £90-00 per plank.
  18. Mental!

Ditto the above - buying what appears to be much cheaper gear from abroad looks brilliant until you get down to the nitty gritty and do the maths. The only time it's prob worth it is if you're over there and you bring one back in yourself and don't declare it saving the freight, import duty and import vat (as in previous post).
  20. Mobile card machines are mega bucks to run. I have one for normal use and for use at shows. But far more expensive than normal (albeit rip off) banking charges. Costs £42-00 a month to rent a month (inv vat) and no you're not allowed to buy it! It's around 30p per debit trans or 2.6%ish for credit card trans. And I think there is another monthly fee of around a £10-00 the bank charges... Securitywise it does store a few recent transactions but not the 3 digit security pin number. For treework BACS and cheques are still far cheaper.
  21. It wasn't a badly done job although the part of throwing the back leaner forward from the bucket seemed a bit sketchy to me. With the momentum of the branch if it had twisted or done something unexpected towards you there's no way you'd have been able to get out of the way... that would have been game over. Could you have temporarily moved the plants if the customer was that fussed about them? Or better still build a protection around them in case you did hit them? It's good that you edited the vid nicely and explained what you did - but my gut reaction - perhaps if you did it a little more modesty next time you may get better feedback.
  22. That was superb - never something I could do... I think I would freeze with fear! With some sort of safety line or 'back up' maybe but free climbing... :w00t:
  23. Have they paid you yet !! I'd get a good deposit first....
  24. Happy Birthday Stevie hope you are having a good one and not working too hard today
  25. They say lyme is good for carvers but I had a load for ages and even though a couple of carvers bought some they didn't buy in large quantities. I'd mill a few good thick 4" planks and firewood the rest. Unless you want to Google carvers and see if you can find some nearby.
