  1. Unless all you're doing is light pruning you'll have to buy a 200t as well. I have the ground variety i.e. 192 and it's a good little saw for carving but struggles with anything over 8" or so
  2. Some loverly stuff there... So smooth and shiny I want to pick it up and touch it !
  3. Cracking piece of wood and personally I like the bark on the legs. It's a bit different and goes with the top. I'm liking the spaulting though. Very nice indeedy
  4. Count me in for an actual clip round the ear and the knife!
  5. Always worth trying a new spark plug before anything else even if you see that there is a spark there and the plug looks clean.
  6. Not really.... You're not making a lot of sense?
  7. Why is that rubbish?? There are hundreds of thousands of big trees where I live.
  8. There's plenty of big old beeches out there... why does it matter taking this one down whether it's healthy or not Surely it's the deforestation in other countries that we should be worrying about.
  9. That looks insanely dangerous But he still has all his fingers though....
  10. Great pics and rather you than me that must of been absolutely stinkin' !!
  11. That's pretty bad... and very funny!
  12. Not a lot of work down there....
  13. Before you commit yourself I would try and get some experience of working with a tree surgery team to make sure you like the job. If you still like the idea then you could do your CS30/CS31. Still liking it then do the climbing but my advice try before you buy
  14. This year will be £100 mixed hardwood this year, £120-00 just oak, £90 mixed all per cubic meter delivered. Half the people who call don't order and complain about the price but still sold 300 cubic meters before Christmas (sold out). Stick to your guns and prices!
  15. Oh I see this is a rim and sprocket set up rather than a spur sprocket... That said a normal spur sprocket on the 200t seems to last a hell of a long time before in needs replacing...
  16. It's not listed mainly I think because the manufacturers don't want to confuse people i.e. if both were listed everyone would be asking 'which one do I need?'. Much easier for them to just list the one.
  17. Correction he will package them in his used lucky thong for the winner!!
  18. Mick looks like I won the hitchclimber for £24-00 from Tree Cutter Stu can you PM me what do I do next - send him the cheque or you? Cheers
  19. Oregon part number 22273 and easy to get. Just PM Jonsie and ask him for it.
  20. A genuine Stihl sprocket is only a couple quid more than this though....
  21. Did I win that hitch climber Mick?
  22. You can advertise it for free on my web forum which is specifically for small wood producers like yourself. Go here treet|Hand Crafted Furniture. Register for the forum and you can put pics and posts up. Be as detailed in your info as possible and you'll prob get a response.
  23. You must have cast iron lungs Tom - One day, one day you will be turned to the dark expensive side ho ho!!
  24. I've had a few bits and pieces of burr oak in the past. But they always seem to have little tears and around the burrs etc. I don't see how you can dry it without it tearing a bit.... I've got some to mill soon so will keep an eye on this thread. My plan at the moment is to mill it around 2.25", stick it until starts getting warmer then kiln for 24 hours and make it into furniture and oil it. I've done this with a couple of discs a year ago and the burrs are still looking really intact. Obviously the disc has split (backed on plywood to keep stable). But the oil seems to help slow down the drying as well as gluing things together a bit.
  25. Dry cold wet cold moist air..... brrrr ir all looks nippy to me! Enjoyed the vids Josh and glad things are going well out there.
