  1. Have you got any more details i.e. what saw model, what length bar you after, what pitch chain do you want to run?

I could get a price for a cannon bar but these are not cheap!

  2. If it was every night it's totally different to being a one off... They stopped after 50 mins which although not half an hour it's not a long time. Most people work during the week so weekend is the only time you can do DIY. I presume your 2 year old runs around the garden having fun screaming and doing what 2 year olds do. What would you do if your neighbour asked you how long your son will be playing in the garden for?
  3. I've got a 30" sachs dolmar solid nose bar. It's second hand. You can have for £25-00 + vat. Cheers, Rob

  4. Get some pics up as well Chris. This is an Alaskan job if ever there was one.... don't worry about moving the log just get it milled where it is in situ.
  5. Let's have some pics and it'll give a better idea of advice what to do with it!
  6. Good stuff - sort of agrees with my thoughts on skip link in that it works better with the older, big torquey saws. There still is prob a place for it with modern saws like the 880 for instance in very soft wood e.g redwood, or using a 30" bar where the torque isn't so vital.
  7. As said in the comments it's a shame no one took any film or pics on their camera that could be used in evidence to convict these people.
  8. I liked the way he had the big saw tucked on his harness... Wonder how he did that? Something on the handle of the saw mebbe...
  9. Started filling the kettle with milk the other day.... but only did it the once not 6 times!
  10. Good vid
  11. It's really stressful when things like this happen. What a god forsaken so and so the neighbor is. Glad you got paid.
  12. I disgree - stand your ground and charge your price. When you give in like this the customer then thinks you must have been overcharging in the first place and this then gives you a bad reputation.
  13. Potted up some plants that were going to be thrown out and gave them to the old boy who works round the yard here. Ok they'll prob die as it was pretty hot but the thought was there!
  14. I will split and sell any wood. The only real tricky stuff I have found to split is big monterey pine. Very sappy, heavy, knotty and awkward...
  15. You'd love that Justin. Nipping next door to get your bikini line sorted for the beech eh! Strangely where I am there's a garden machinery shop and next door a beauty place.... seems the 2 have a symbiotic relationship or summat!
  16. Good stuff and as above like the way you've down the back
  17. Yes it does. Just let me know first and I can put up a special order, Regards, Rob
  18. The Lucas mill has a dedicated slabber that has very few teeth and I've heard works well. Lord knows I'm no techie but I think skip chain works better with the older style saws that had higher torque and less revs. Perhaps the lower speed gives more time for the tooth to bite... but I'm just guessing here.
  19. My advice is to try each..... But in theory if you're not worried about the finish then the skip should be faster.... I have Oregon full skip but not really used it enough to fully comment. Those older saws should work better with it and be faster.
  20. Nice to see it'll be milled
  21. Sorry but he sounds like he's a total waste of space. Personally I'd go and pick them up myself but this may not be possible. Give him a call and ask what the ruddy hell's going on!!
  22. That's not very reassuring.... I wonder how many others out there may be struggling but wouldn't know that it was 'dodgy steel'.
  23. Someone sent me this link today. Good little well shot vid on the alaskan, slabbing brackets and mini mill. He gives a good explanation and it's still unsure why he needs a gun handy to do so but maybe there's some pesky no good varmints around and so you can't be too careful [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmLcm9mtqPw&feature=related]YouTube - ‪Alaskan Chainsaw Mill Off-grid Homestead Project‬‏[/ame]
  24. That's nasty.... glad he's ok but what was it that actually broke that caused the re direct pulley to fire into him?
  25. Good stuff! Hope you get some good use from it!
