  1. That set up is just tied at the top, only the leg with the alpine butterfly has a tail that reaches the floor for retrieval. You climb on the leg going through the mailon. Same forces as just being tied at the top but retrievable from the deck.
  2. Lots of member have used cranes in the past. Might help if you put your location mate. I could give you the lowdown on firms I have used, but it would be no good if you are in the North of Scotland for eg.
  3. Where in Darlo is that job? I was born in Darlo and lived just off Neasham Road and then Mowden Estate till I was about 9.
  4. It isn't a larvae. It is a sock puppet I made for my youngest boy, it fell out of my bag at your house.
  5. Check out the Mac refurb store. Tiny link on the bottom left of the apple site or google it. Plenty of savings to be had on returned machines and with a warranty too.
  6. That competition finished on the 26th August.
  7. I reckon about a grand Dean, including delivery both ways and driver, inc VAT.
  8. So was I right? Is it 1 or 2 inch tall now?
  9. I reckon they will be about and inch or two off the floor by now!
  10. I would hardly say being a Geordie is a tropical disease. Last I heard it was an Incurable affliction that affect certain North Easterners. Luckily I am from Stockton, so am immune to it... On a serious note, get well soon mate!
  11. A little fight from last week. English commentary by my mate Rob Cox. Great fight.
  12. I am sure Timber Cutter Dartmor has a link in his sig to red line oils.
  13. One of the guys I was working with swears by his. I tried a number of times to persuade him to use a bigger saw but he wasn't having it!
  14. I have about 2 slices of toast for breaky and a mug of non sugared tea. Then maybe a bacon and egg butty on way to job. A couple of sarnies for lunch and then evening meal. I have never calorie counted but I bet it is a lot less than the recommended amounts.
  15. Or he could be just working in Norway and earning Nok rather than living and working in Sweden and being paid in Sek.
  16. :thumbup1:
  17. I agree Steve. You know though as well as I do that there are more and more people coming into the industry. In South East London many firms will pay peanuts for staff on the terms I mentioned above. They will keep paying the peanuts because there is quite a queue for people looking to get into the industry. If the (self) employed person doesn't like it then someone else will do it for the same money or even less. I am not saying I agree with it, I'm just saying, thats all.
  18. As opposed to the bosses who have all guys on a self employed basis, providing their own ppe and sometimes saws working from them 5 days a week. They have the perks of staff but none of the responsibility for sick pay, holidays, CPD, Employers NI contributions and tax. Mmmm.
  19. Cheers. Nod at Treeworker does courses when there is the demand. I just bought the Samson splicing handbook and self taught and chatting to others. There are loads of videos of double braid splices on you tube.
  20. 14mm double braid rigging line. 6 inch eye.
  21. Don't be bitter about other people sells stuff. Good on them for finding that niche market for selling. Yes to us it is a log. The the buyer it is a fantastic atmosphere and talking point at the dinner party, wine evening or barB. Get out there, get some made and then go into the poshest garden centre nr you and see if they sell, sale or return.
  22. Where abouts are you? There was a thread on here the other day giving a link to free training for 30/31. Maybe worth looking into.
  23. I am not extracting the urine mate. I have quite a few friends who are dyslexic. Most of them have come out of university with good degrees. The reason they passed wasn't dyslexia, it was bloody hard work. If they could write a 10000 word dissertation and be bothered to spell check it, why can't some people do the same on a forum where posts are considerably shorter?
  24. Yes but dyslexia shouldn't be used as an excuse. Punctuation. The difference between knowing your sh1t and everyone knowing you're sh1t.
  25. Finished of yesterday's Beech tree. Lowered the right stem in three pieces and pulled into the truck behind tree. A couple of choggs to get to roof height. The ripped the truck 3 foot down middle and the chopped bits off in half rounds. Cleared the roof on right with no hassle and then only hit 1 bail in the rest of the trunk. Happy daze. Home by 2.30pm.
