  1. That policy has been around for a year or two. There is supposed to be a change to stop that altogether. That is what the whole hoo-ha is about.
  2. TCD, I am not doubting the fact that they used to be, just that I had never heard of them as is possibly the case of many on here. For around the last 5-6 years the main players have been the guys who have moved with the times. Shop to warehouse to online presence. Sort of like an economical evolution. Those left behind have lost pace and IMO have lost business because of that. Hence the moaning to Stihl and now this policy.
  3. As has been said it would marked on the deeds with a T. If no T's are present the. It is the persons who erected the fence/wall. In my case my neighbour on the left is asking me to replace the fence posts as they are rotten a bit wobbly. The previous owner of the house was a handy man and neighbours on both sides were elderly so he built and maintained both sides. Hence I inherited the responsibility when I bought the place. I looked quite a lot into boundary law and if he keeps pecking me (tbh, if he offered to go halves I would do it) but he is a jobs worth who has never worked in his life, to my knowledge. The reason the fence post is moving is he has lots of plants tied to it including some dwarf Connies. Basically I haven't given him permission to do this and under boundary law it can be classed as criminal damage. As does painting or treating the fence.
  4. Nice work. Pretty delicate RJ there.
  5. I too, have been to everyone since 2004, apart from this year. The reason I didn't bother this year to drive to the nearest arb show to me, a mere 40 mins in the motor, was due to last years disappointment efforts on Capel's part. I am a great believer in you have to help yourself, before other people will help you. I couldn't believe they had their Hort show the week before the Celeb of Trees last year. There is so much crossover between the two that I cannot believe they didn't realise an opportunity. Just having the additional traffic from another type of show would help everyone feel better. People would pick up in the buzz and leave feeling that would go back the next year. Because there is a lack of footfall it will be difficult to get back on track. The more people expected, the more stands there will be and general interest. I do believe feedback was given to them 2 years ago from the likes of Steve and yourself. IMO the whole thing has been slowly going down hill since the timber sports axe men stopped having their comp there. So this may be harsh to some, BUT until whoever is responsible for the marketing and running of this event, gets their arse/act in gear, I shall not be spending 8 quid in Deisel and 40 minutes or so of my life to get there.
  6. Josh, why is it suddenly a load of nonsense..? 3 of the largest Arb suppliers and Stihl dealerships in the country have been informed this is the case. Costing them money in order to try and continue service to their customers. Just because you local dealer, which I have never heard of, I dare say along with a lot of members on here hasn't been informed, you believe it. You seem very emotional about this whole issue and have a habit of reacting with jerky knees. Time will tell how this policy pans out, but I believe it to be true. Otherwise why would some of the largest distributors of Stihl products be going to such measures?
  7. Horrible isnt it? As I was checking satnav to pick my boy up just as I was leaving. I clocked another allowing his staffy to lay an egg next to the log pile. I hope he comes back in the dark to collect some free logs and slips on it!
  8. Sorry , but that will teach you for eating at such a late hour.
  9. Usually, in South East London, we see scat everywhere usually just fresh from the back end of a Staffy or Pitbull type dog. Today in fact, I was cleaning up and was reomving my Airstreams to see what looked and smelled like a dog egg hanging off the side. I changed it and wandered over to a railing and give a good hit to try and dislodge the misplaced egg. Only to realise the smell was worse than ever. I looked down to see I had trodden in a very fresh egg in my clean boots.
  10. What did you stick in the eye Carl? Looking good mate.
  11. I think i paid 140 ish for my Cresta's. Not budget I know, but well worth the pounds IMO. Nod at Treeworker has them in.
  12. Instead of rock climbing shoes look at a compromise. i.e. approach boots or similar. Scapa's are good. I use the Aku Cresta's. Very comfy, lighter than chainsaw boots and better grip bit still with a bit of support for your foot and ankles.
  13. Just get a pair of Stretch Air Orange, Large, Plus 7's Should be just the job big lad!
  14. I usually choke a rope guide off on the stem yes. I have one about 1.7 and a 4.5 metre one. I made the large one for a plane dismantle last year with a crane. Still wasn't big enough so sometimes I just choke a running bowline and vt and RW as a bailout option.
  15. So what's the point/purpose of that setup?
  16. Well done Alex. Ooh, and well done to you mate for sticking it in there in the first place.
  17. You mean the Geordie Bath. Once a week you lot used to go their for the "wash'!
  18. How did it go then? Interested to hear more.
  19. One things for certain. One person will become rich as a result of the seminars. As for the techniques that person divulges, I hope they work.
  20. Especially of the West Indian flavour.
  21. That chick in the Viking helmet looks like she is trying to give me the horn
  22. Best be quick mate, not a lot of them still out there.
  23. Had it for years. Probably brought on by raving and clubbing in my youth. I find sleeping with ear plugs helps a lot.
  24. I may have been exiled from the North, but am still a Boro fan at heart!
