  1. If you were the guy on the left, the guy on the right would be a whopper!!!

    Moles

Thats very strange, as they are completely buried and you need to tie some coloured cord to them and leave it sticking out the ground along with a maker stick, in order to find them on your return. Now scissor traps I could understand going, as they stick out the ground.

Spot on!!! I was given some of these traps by the widow of a neighbour, they are excellent!! Far better than any others I have tried!!

  5. Poplar was used for carts, its hard wearing and flexible. Anyone who does not think willow is tough should stump grind a few big ones.

    Catch the moles first.
  7. I would personally reverse cost the process, work out how much you could afford to pay and still make a decent return, I would then approach those offering the processing service and tell them how much you could pay on a volume rate and see if they can meet your requirements. There is no point being a busy fool, IMO.
  8. He is referring to the one shavey said he has.
  9. Considering falling onto concrete or tarmac would lead to serious injury or death, I generally consider working over water a bonus. I have worked on jobs where ground staff were required to wear life jackets, but would not entertain one in the tree personally.
  10. Had it on my ms200, ms201 and 540xp, so can't see it being the bar.
  11. Good call for those tricky behind you one handed cuts!!
  12. I trust thats a SIP romper suit?
  13. We had ours up just for Christmas day, collected at 12.30 and got a taxi home at 9, mind they only live 2 miles away. My parents are JW's, so stay well clear this time of year. We got the game "Card against humanity" it was great fun playing this with the in-law's, although my wife accused me of finding the most inappropriate cards when it was her mothers turn to read them out………. "who me, surely not!!"
  14. Not a clue, our american cousins commonly use 16", but maybe their wood is softer? My only thought is that the more aggressive cut is harder on the straps?
  15. Deep water wading is not really a good idea, gear boxes and diffs have breathers to allow for the change in temperature. When you go in cold water the air in the gearbox or diff cools and constricts causing a vacuum which sucks water in. Unimogs can be fitted with a "wading kit" this put slightly pressurised air into the hubs, diffs, gearbox, etc, this prevents the vacuum and ingress of water.
  16. I really like the stihl full chisel chain for the 020, I'd wanted a full chisel climbing saw chain for year, but I find they snap when the chain is only half used, so I gone back to Oregon.
  17. My intension is to keep on keeping on
  18. The person with the 10 year old mint kit is less likely to be selling than the 1 year knacked stuff, IME. But sure some times you get lucky, but often stuff is given a cosmetic facelift that hides really problems.
  19. Tax is only a % of the profit you make, so spending money just for the sake of reducing your tax bill is foolish, IMO. Changing equipment before it needs work to save on tax, rather than having expense repair bills does make long term sense. So yes the equipment may still be in good working order, but nothing last forever, so by definition it must be nearer the end of its working life. A small firm maybe happy to run older gear that needs a little nursing and down time may not be an issue, bigger outfits tend to prefer newer more reliable gear. As aways only my own view, others are free to see things differently
  20. Old stuff tends to go wrong, ask yourself why they are selling it? They often put "New machine forces sale" if the old one is still OK why are they replacing it?
  21. While this is a good way of thinking, boots and many other items come with warranty, the clock on that warranty starts at the date of purchase. So buying and storing before use can sometime be a mistake, IMO.
  22. I'm just stocked at how fast years pass these day, as I get older years are just flying by. I need to do new things I've never done before, as thats the only way to slow thing down.
  23. It also reduces the distance the water need to travel.
  24. A passing child is unlikely to have a key of any kind.
