  1. That makes no sense, the pipe should burst before the coupling came apart
  2. I lift the out by hand, two guys can soon empty a cage.
  3. Its a rubber one with two filters that twist on.
  4. Hehe, no healthy trees I googled it and apparently as Ash is the same family as Olive, its known to affect some. I guess after years of inhaling the dust, plus getting it in my eye's etc, I've just developed an allergy. Its no big deal and in the long run the mask will probably be a positive thing. Think of all that chain oil I'm not going to ingest. The only downside I have so far encountered is that communicating from the tree with the mask on is not easy.
  5. The rash has be occurring on and off for the last 6 weeks or so. Presumed it was a food allergy. Then one day it was way worse, went to doctor, he said it was defiantly an allergy, probable food. I've been keeping a check of what I eat, but there has been no correlation between any food and the appearance of the rash and then the penny dropped every day I had had the rash I had been working Ash.
  6. I appear to have developed an allergy to Ash trees, when climbing and cutting Ash I develop a pretty nasty looking rash, quite large raised angry looking lumps starting on my head or shoulders and developing further down my body. The more cutting I do the worse it seems to get. I feel absolutely fine, other than the rash. Antihistamines soon clear it up, but I don't like taking them when working as they cause drowsiness. I've taken to wearing a dust mask when cutting, all the time not just Ash as I do get sinus trouble and my father who was a joiner had problems with sawdust. So far the mask is working well, I dismantled a pretty large Ash yesterday and had only a very few spots at the end of the day. Has anyone else had or know of similar?
  7. I think Labour just shot your fox
  8. You really think Theresa May is going to call for a vote of no confidence in herself?
  9. Excellent posts Reg Its not about laziness, its about wanting to get on and make a living for our families and about feeling we are capable of doing it safely, which many uninjured climbers over many years would suggest is true. I don't know the answer. I have wondered about increasing our crew size and rigging, but that would impact on our standard of life. I also wonder is one handing day in day out makes you less likely to get it wrong, as opposed only one handing when its really needed or on the odd occasion for what ever reason? I don't know.
  10. No he isn't, we in the trade fully understood (Well at least I did )
  11. I guess I'm lucky in that I could not give a toss what anyone thinks on the subject of one handing a saw. Sure I get that if they were banned and their production ended I would be pretty pissed. I use my 020 more one handed than not, but after 25 years of climbing and never having had a saw cut, I kinda feel I've earned the right to do things my way. My son is 20 and just getting into climbing, if I catch him one handing he will get a major bollocking, but in time he will earn the right to do things his way. IMO, we each need to learn our limits and work within them and any smart arse who feels he knows it all and can dictate to others, is not going to get a second of my time, I will not be reading the "blog".
  12. He's doing better than me, when I started I had a new saw and new van, I now have an old saw and an old van
  13. Its his turn with the lap top, Doris in room 15 gets it next
  14. He was a Tory when he won with the seat, he was an independent when he lost it, do you actually understand the difference? He won before the referendum, he was open about voting "out" the majority of his constituents voted to remain. If he had won that would have been a real coup, his losing was no surprise, IMO. The way you and the media try to make hay from every single twist and turn of the political world is pretty pathetic. Brexit will happen, probable not in a way we can yet see, but it will happen. I personally still think the EU as we currently see it will implode, make our exit pretty simple
  15. Didn't work on cars (they have pretty big engines) if you don't believe me ask Volkswagen
  16. With the new thoughts on diesel engines suggesting they are very bad for us and the environment. Are we going to see large tractors etc with petrol engines? If so there will presumably need to be "red" petrol for farmers, plant, etc. So in the long run we could end up benefiting, as we will have rebated fuel for our saws, who knows maybe even Aspen will qualify?
  17. Soot is not a problem, its tar you need to worry about.
  18. I can never get my head round why we are expected to pay for the privilege of giving our hard earned to suppliers:confused1: I wonder why Tesco have not started charging for entry to their stores? they are clearly missing a trick:001_rolleyes:
  19. I find that very hard to believe, they must be in a very big way, as business rates can only go back 12months.
