  1. Imaterial, IMO.
  2. So if a mate of yours asked you to fell a tree for them and just charge the going rate and you charged them double your normal rate, it would be their fault?
  3. Err, no, I bought a winch from a stranger and paid their asking price. I expected to have to repair it but got lucky. I asked a "mate" who knew far more about the winch than me what it was worth, he "lied" to me about the value and ripped me off. If you can't see the difference I'm glad I'm not your mate
  4. Yes it was coloured, in fact it was the tree in my avatar.
  5. I think you will struggle to get decent or even any money above fire wood value for it, I sold 6 artic loads of Lime, Oak and Ash, there was some beautiful Beech, but was too big, so they did not want it, ended up as firewood at £40 a tonne.
  6. :confused1:You think 1973 is earlier than 1946?

P.S, he seems very friendly with most of the local gardeners

    lawn care!!

My mate bought a Greensleeve franchise, he is doing very well. The difference he can make to peoples lawns is very impressive, most of his customers are very pleased and recommend him to their friends.
  9. For a mog the Werner is far superior, especially for self recovery, IMO. I bough a more basic version of the Werner at an auction, I never used it so sold it to a so called friend who told me it was worth £500, he is far more knowledgeable about all things Mog, he basically robbed me, they are worth £2K all day long. I managed to find a battered one on ebay, it was described as needing repair, but the cable eye had simply been allowed to travel round the drum and become stuck. I managed to get it free and it all worked fine. They are slow, but pull like you would not believe.
  10. I wouldn't care
  11. IMHO any one who sees sharpening as an issue needs to get their act together.
  12. For £3K Vos have a Werner front PTO winch for a mog.
  13. He's sharpening skills are much like his grammar and grooming
  14. If that were true you need to sack your staff and get some decent ones:001_rolleyes:
  15. IME, you do not need a huge winch to get a mog out of trouble. I've got mine moving again with a small tirfor. The secret is to stop as soon as you loose traction, if you keep trying you simply dig big holes with the wheels, then you are in real trouble.
  16. I would have thought that they will have a pretty good idea of how much fuel/timber has been used by the your meter readings.
  17. Yes .
  18. And if you don't climb trees every day you will also die, kinda sucks really , but hey thats life I really, really hate the drama queens who bleat on about how "dangerous" our work is!!, it a choice, if you don't like it fine piss off and do something different. How many accountants die for diabetes or a heart attack? IMO our job has more health benefits than negatives
  19. Indeed and new drivers would be lower risk and cheaper, yeah right!!!
  20. The fee is for fuel burnt on appliances generating RHI, what made you think you would need to pay it on any other fuel?
  21. Well its training, but I guess it would make sense to do a ticket you have not previously done.
  22. Apparently doing any ticket counts as a "refresher" as you have been assessed for your basic saw skills.
  23. If its the same as my mini digger, its a thumb screw on the side of the injector pump. You unscrew it to bleed the system, once its running you screw it in and it should be sorted.
  24. That is to remove sap, to prevent staining in summer felled Sycamore, not sure it changes drying time any.

    4,2 or 1 tree?

I reckon remove the skinny front leg, gob and back cut the left and right ones, then sever the rear one
