  1. I think chances were pretty thin even before this thread
  2. I saw lambs in Devon today. Been exceptionally dry and settled for us so far this winter, but I fear it will not last.
  3. Never heard the term before.
  4. There was a site near me where they racked up all the mess (with a very large excavator), but never burned it, I guess they are habitat piles? Looks a bloody mess, right next to the road and a reservoir.
  5. Like I say, I'm glad the likes of you are not my mate. I needed one for a job, asked about and was shocked by how much they were. I was pissed off that he had shafted me, in actual fact he had never actually completed the deal (£40 still owing) if he was any sort of a decent bloke he would have returned the winch or given me more money. He already had the same model winch on one of his mogs. I have good mates who would never dream of dealing with me like that or me with them, but as I say I don't need "mates" like that or you by the sound of things
  6. Not sure Mrs Miggings would appreciate you dragging "good sized trunks" across her prize garden
  7. It was fully working, even had an up to date LOLER, it was ex council, I even knew its history. I wanted to sell it for near what it would cost me to replace it if the need ever arose. When the need did arise I found they were £2K. I asked the so called mate to return it for the price paid, in fact he still owed me £40 of the £500. He refused, but paypal'd me the £40. The friendship ended at this point. At least I got to see his true colours.
  8. Also the one I got of ebay was in very poor condition compared with the mint one I sold.
  9. So if a mate of yours asked you to fell a tree for them and just charge the going rate and you charged them double your normal rate, it would be their fault?
  10. Err, no, I bought a winch from a stranger and paid their asking price. I expected to have to repair it but got lucky. I asked a "mate" who knew far more about the winch than me what it was worth, he "lied" to me about the value and ripped me off. If you can't see the difference I'm glad I'm not your mate
  11. Yes it was coloured, in fact it was the tree in my avatar.
  12. I think you will struggle to get decent or even any money above fire wood value for it, I sold 6 artic loads of Lime, Oak and Ash, there was some beautiful Beech, but was too big, so they did not want it, ended up as firewood at £40 a tonne.
  13. :confused1:You think 1973 is earlier than 1946?

P.S, he seems very friendly with most of the local gardeners

    lawn care!!

My mate bought a Greensleeve franchise, he is doing very well. The difference he can make to peoples lawns is very impressive, most of his customers are very pleased and recommend him to their friends.
  16. For a mog the Werner is far superior, especially for self recovery, IMO. I bough a more basic version of the Werner at an auction, I never used it so sold it to a so called friend who told me it was worth £500, he is far more knowledgeable about all things Mog, he basically robbed me, they are worth £2K all day long. I managed to find a battered one on ebay, it was described as needing repair, but the cable eye had simply been allowed to travel round the drum and become stuck. I managed to get it free and it all worked fine. They are slow, but pull like you would not believe.
  17. IMHO any one who sees sharpening as an issue needs to get their act together.
  18. For £3K Vos have a Werner front PTO winch for a mog.
  19. He's sharpening skills are much like his grammar and grooming
  20. If that were true you need to sack your staff and get some decent ones:001_rolleyes:
