  1. Is that fully comp and what value do you have it insured for?

I think it will be well under 1250KG, but I could be wrong.
  3. I'm paying rather more than that with the NFU, but at least I have peace of mind. Although I will watch this thread with interest.

Err no, uprating the springs in no way increases your payload, it may make a traffic officer less likely to spot your overloaded, but it won't add an ounce to your legal GVW, in fact the up rated springs are likely to be a little heavier than the originals, so your carrying capacity will actually be reduced.
  5. Not a saw I've ever bought, if they did stop building it in 2010, it could just be the chain brake handle thats 2015.
  6. Do you think there would be time to think? I reckon it would all just be a blur until it was over, but who knows? Him I guess??
  7. A far cry from the £200 a ton a few years back.
  8. A few years ago maybe, but these days its hardly worth the effort of taking it in
  9. :lol:Surely those two words cannot ever go together?????
  10. Would a descent subie climber not be a better option?
  11. Its on the "Todays job thread" I think.
  12. Considering the tree had been dismantled, leaving a mere nub of a trunk, I really don't think the toes were of any concern. Edit, although given the obvious late hour and the fact they were working in the dark, I would not have been messing about make those unnecessary cuts.
  13. I know very little about drying sawn timber, but my understanding was it needed to be pretty slow and gentle, hence the reason dehumidifiers are often used. Would a 100KW boiler be a little on the large side. Firewood is different, faster the better, splitting and twisting matters not.
  14. The whole job, but you will get the vat on the materials back:thumbup1:
  15. I'm pretty sure your incorrect Stevie, this is taken from an accountancy site So you need to calculate the gross market value including VAT of: Stock on hand which you claimed input VAT on. Assets on hand – such as machinery or vehicles – which you claimed input VAT on. Land and property in use by the business which you claimed VAT on. The good news is that if the total VAT element of these assets is below £1,000 you won’t have to pay anything. This means that if you are considering de-registering and the tax element is just above £1,000 you should consider running down your stocks to get the tax due under £1,000. If you do this, be prepared to defend your market value calculation if you get an enquiry!
  16. If you deregister I thought you have to repay the vat on any assets still on your books?
  17. You deduct the vat you are reclaiming from the vat you owe and pay the balance or claim whats due if it greater than whats owed. They are a bit tighter on claiming vat on purchases from before registration, they now take depreciation into account, rather than just refunding you in full, or so I heard.
  18. Some times the client likes you, some times they don't. I try to alway meet the client on site, I hate quoting over the phone or in writing.
  19. The problem is when it comes to the vat man and the tax man you are guilty until you prove your own innocence, which without good records is impossible. Far better to simply play the game by the rules they set, rather being a smart ass and getting burned.
  20. I guess you hit the £250K turnover, good for you
