  1. I made the mistake of think the topic could be discussed sensibly, how foolish of me
  2. I started a list, but gave up because I knew I would miss some, so deleted it. We all know the great posters, they are at the top of their game, but are still happy to share, they give tips, techniques, post pic's offer advice etc. Its great when you log on and see a new post from one of these, you know your going to get real solid information, long may they continue to contribute, they really are what AT is all about for me.
  3. I wouldn't bother.
  4. :confused1:What?? I was referring to your "who's running on the 30%" post. Obviously we don't all quote the same work, but there will be some overlap, so none of us are working from the same 100%.
  5. Is that a joke?
  6. With you yes, but your not likely to know how much you lost the quote by (if it was on price), plus if you spend an extra half day quoting in order to get enough work, you may actually be no better off. Its a difficult balance, IMO, you spend more on advertising and more time quoting, to get enough work, but winning more of the available work may mean you can reduce advertising and time quoting, cutting costs and increasing profit. Trying not to win work on price is best, if you can, IMO.
  7. Looks painfully slow for a poor result. Round file and plenty of practice is best IMO. I'm out.
  8. Beautiful today!!! Blue skys!!!! Could not work due to family commitments, typical!!!! Looks like tomorrow and friday are OK, so should finally get a little work done!!

Not just the weather, theres the price of oil too.
  10. pathetic
  11. Why the same money? I like to win my work based on me selling our service. By this I mean, they ask me to quote, I go and look, talk the job through with them, give them a price and they say yes without getting more quotes. If they say they are getting more quotes more often than not I don't hear from them again, some people round here work for peanuts.
  12. clueless
  13. stupid
  14. I often wonder how little congestion there would be if people just drove well, not nodding off at the lights, getting in the gap you need, not waiting for a bus sized one, knowing the width of your tiny car, instead of waiting because you think its 9' wide, the Mexican standoff at mini roundabouts when none of them go, etc, etc, I could go on!!!
  15. Read your highway code, then you won't need a good lawyer, works for me
  16. I did not say it did, I did mine about 13 years ago, but I have never felt the need to stop at roundabouts and passed my test in1987
  17. I took a driver improvement course (instead of getting done for DWDC) we went out with an advanced driving instructor and we were told to read a roundabout as we approached it and slowing well before if this meant we did not need to stop, roundabouts are "give way" not "stop". It may have been something else about your driving that tipped him off, because I not stopped at a roundabout unnecessarily for decades and never been pulled for it.
  18. These drivers are the most dangerous on the road IMO, often they do 38 in the 60 zone, but continue at the same speed when they enter a 30, they just don't take the effort to read the road around them, they are the same people who sit in the middle lane of the Mway regardless of whats around them, muppets!!!
  19. Oh yes and the ones on the inside lane joining a roundabout, who wait for truck or bus in the outside lane to finish pulling onto roundabout to see if the roads clear:confused1: ………………do they think a vehicle is going to come through the bus or truck and hit them?????????????????
  20. :bawling:
  21. Very heavy rain showers, heavy hail showers, very cloudy, cold wind and the odd bright spell, getting pretty fed up with this weather now
  22. I always think the very same thing.
  23. imbeciles
  24. A demount one could be made, just give Alex a ring Schaeff HT12 Digger for Unimog. Excavator. Backhoe Back Actor | eBay
  25. The power to weight is outstanding!!!
