  1. I don't understand that logic. You do tree work any undesireables will already know what is in your truck. Why not sign write it and let it be a mobile advertising board for as it draws attention to you for the right reasons as well.
  2. Its alright crashing on the fencing and replacing provided the owner isn't a pain and complains the tension isn't right and requires money to rectify it even though it was better than the original. Any one would think Tha happened to me.
  3. Having been involved in "accidental" removal having been hoodwinked by a client trust me it ain't worth it. I wasn't implicated but the home owner is and the hassle it has caused him really isn't worth it.
  4. I could possibly manage the friday but not stay as will have a 1 month old arbtalker by then
  5. I would debate if it I free climbing. By definition free climb is to not use ropes. Looks more akin to a long rock climb. Impressive none the less
  6. Just started thunder and lightning in Wigan. This could be fun
  7. They do reduce well if done sensitivly. They don't reduce well when people leave large pruning cuts or stubs. Small pruning cuts compartmentalise well due to the speed of growth. Ultimately though any tree work will shorten a trees life. Reducing the tree will reduce loading which in turn will reduce the risk of basal failure.
  8. EL costs me less than 300quid. It is less than a days turnover. Its there for if the worst was to happen
  9. Don't get spray on stuff. You can't change tiles with the spray stuff if you get a leak it can mean a new roof.
  10. Last night some mixed wood but mostly the chimney. Think i best give it good clean.
  11. Within a 50 mile radius of my base but will go further
  12. I would argue some of the resistant species most certainly aren't. Particularly ash having removed some with both rhizomorphs and active mycelium.
  13. I where type c all year. In winter usually with running rights underneath. In summer I cope just rest on a minute or two when too hot.
  14. Did myself mid thigh rushing the first cut of the day with bad work positioning not long after I started. Was wearing chainsaw trousers which saved me some serious harm. I really don't like working working a saw without them on now.
  15. Hawthorne. It is that dense it sinks and always seems heavy when I've taken larger ones down
  16. You can reduce most trees. Trees with advantages buds tend to respond better than those without in terms of regrowth for the tree.
  17. For my work truck i claim all diesel, repairs, insurance etc. Where i use the family car for pricing etc i claim 45p a mile. If you can justify it as a business related expense even if tenuous then claiming against tax if fair to me.
  18. Wouldnt be overly bothered about RHI think i might have to start designing one.
  19. Would it be a viable proposition to use a sawdust/chip burner to run a crude firewood kiln.
  20. We came down to a yuletide dog log. The joys of owning a geriatric dog.
  21. Last day was yesterday officially. But tommorow i shall be doing a log drop and a price. The joys of self employment.
  22. In over 5 years of climbing have used both ends of my rope twice. Once in a large (100ft+) open grown lime witgh no central anchor which would have meant a big swing when moving round the crown if i slipped and the other pruning an open grown beech. Im of yhe oppinion it has its place but not all the time. It is a good tool to have in the climbing locker.
  23. Chains aren't so bad when cheaper. I've had a gopart bar which wore very heavily so ain't convinced. I also don't like the 0.50 cheaper chains prefer branded as they seem harder wearing.
  24. 10+ builders bags out of a 1 foot dbh tree think I will by a dozen at the price quoted:001_rolleyes:
  25. Have a job on the Wirral Saturday at heswall. Looking for somewhere to tip a load of chip and possibly a load or two of Lombardy logs. Any help would be most appreciated as my yard is nearly an hour away.
