  1. The proposed proportional representation wasn't proportional representation. If it was a true proportional representation more may have voted for the change. Whoever I choose to vote for will not get in unless it is dressed in a red tie spouting about socialist politics which are no longer socialist but for there own personal gratification. Liabour will most certainly have 3 MPs from the Wigan area but my vote is not going there. When it was the party of the working man it was fine but now they are the party of the non working benefit society hell bent on spending the country to oblivion.
  2. Standard charge here 60 quid an hour or part there of minimum 2 hours. Saves looking at chipping jobs and they can take it or leave it. No messing
  3. The problem you now have though is the weak attachment points of the new regrowth as a result of the topping. Re topping which it is as opposed to pollarding may be the only real option for future management given the weaker attachment. Sycamore reductions to bs3998 I find notoriously difficult on a previously topped tree due to the excessive extension growth that occurs with few laterals that is typical of sycamore regrowth.
  4. Aim for as deep as possible soil and all. When you get a lot of chips and soil mixed together it can bog down a little but I tend to blow the chips out of the hole so I can see what else there is to grind.
  5. I would argue that if you are taking back to previous pruning points you are then maintaining a topped tree as a pollard. A pollard as we know should be formed as a young tree but sadly people do routinely top trees. You can of course reduce a previously topped tree to the standards for a reduction. I do however also maintain a couple of trees which have in the past been brutally topped as pollards in this case however willows. At no point did the OP suggest that it was topping. Correctly maintained pollards that have been done so from an early age are a fantastic sight and s very valuable method of tree management topped trees are not.
  6. The hb20 is a quality machine. Only bit I struggle with is when the stump I high ir up a bit of slope as it does require a fair amount of effort. The biggest stump I've done with mine was 4.5feet across plus the buttress roots and was about 2 feet of vertical grinding height as it was half buried. It took about 2.5hoursto do but it got there. On your average 2 foot stump cut low they are super and will squeeze through most gates.
  7. Therefore there should be no reason to reject the application and they are just being difficult.
  8. You shouldn't have to attach a report. You only need to outline the reasons for wishing to undertake the works which can be within the description linked to the tree number. If you have said the reason is that they are dangerous you may need a report. Phone the TO and ask why they need a report for a sound arboricultural practice as outlined in bs3998 and see what the answer is
  9. I'd quite happily put 3500 behind my h reg 200tdi which has a tired engine. It will maintain 55mph on the flat. Gets slow on hills but it isn't about how fast you get there. When I had a 300 disco I'd happily tow 3500 with that also and was better again. Remember that the youngest 300s are nearly 20years old now.
  10. What makes you think that though? Unless they are incredibly tired they should still tow 3500kg
  11. I don't know what you are on about I've not once been recovered by a yellow taxi. ........ They've always been orange
  12. The gross vehicle weights are either 3050kg or 3500kg depending on the plate. Add a 3.5 tonne towing weight you have either 6550kg or 7000kg as GTW
  13. There is also a pay tip site between lowton and culceth at 20 quid a load.
  14. My 200tdi is regularly loaded to full with trailer or chipper in tow. Often tow a skidsteer with my other 200tdi and it doesn't bat an eyelid
  15. Cheers john much appreciated
  16. I've a job near the hospital in fulwood Preston on Wednesday. Does anyone know of anywhere to tip nearby. Will have one possibly two loads of conifer chip. Don't really want to have to trek back to Wigan. Any help will be much appreciated. Steve 07970521692 or pm or post on here.
  17. Beech lasts surprisingly well. Made a mushroom in beach 5 years back and it still survives. Have one on my yard I did a couple of years back and is as good as new
  18. Mine cracked in the same place
  19. I use an oval on both. I find cross loading it harder with annoval thsn I did with pear shape ones
  20. I would argue that removal is your only option. Kretz is unpredictable if the targets weren't there then retain but given the target remove. That I my thought anyway
  21. I'd reckon not to extensive yet but the reality is it could be horrendous. Thag I where the problem lies you can't tell. Given the hazard and the targets if it was a tree I had surveyed I would recommend removal
  22. Doing a job in Whitefield today and sm desperate for a tip site for a couple of loads of chip. Anyone able to help me out
  23. I'm currently using mine on a 13mm as I stupidly trimmed my 11.7mm rope. On an 11.7 it self tends well. I am careful when going over branches etc so as not to side load it. I went from a prussic to the zigzag and won't be going back anytime soon even for small trees.
  24. I use a mallion on mine at the fixed end
  25. I use mine on everything. Cracked one but replaced with no issued.
