  1. I know west lancs council have pursued a number of CA contraventions in the past.
  2. Sorry to hear you've not been so good and hope you make the best recovery possible given the circumstances. It has been a pleasure working with you and undoubtedly you are one of the best climbers I've had work for us.
  3. It shouldn't require a full report though. Within the reasons and description of works requested we will generally give a full description of why the works are required. This should be sufficient in most cases. There are the odd exception with contentious works in particular removals that may not be as clear in terms of the extent of the problem in which case a report may be more justified. I currently do TPO apps free of charge if we are doing the work. If we required a survey or report each time we would then be charging for a professional service. Submitting a report could also lead to those who are not sufficiently qualified on paper being held to account if works were incorrect.
  4. Doesn't when I use it. Just sketch plan and description as that is all that is required by legal statute.
  5. Looking at it the tree had been brutally topped in the past which will lead to excessive growth even on a beech. A sensitive reduction as has been undertaken shouldn't promote the same panic growth so will not grow back in the same manner. No tree work is best for the tree but as trees and humans live in a landscape together we as humans influence the surroundings to suit our needs hence doing the work we do. I think the work looks very good I know how hard it can be to get a good outcome when undoing someone else's poor workmanship. Top job.
  6. Same wah you would rescue if the injured top is damaged. Climb up drt anchor in. Out to climber attach to your system cut set rope and come down together. That would be my approach anyhow.
  7. Td5s state that you shouldn't use biodiesel so I'm guessing veg oil is a bad idea
  8. Generally a nylon hammer. That tree looks well knackered. Not convinced I'd fancy climbing that. Right decision letting the relevent people know.
  9. Absolutely fine just doesn't leave mega amounts of coals
  10. You have to hit a saw casing pretty darn hard to cause a hole like that. I'm sure the OP would remember doing such a thing. A branch under extreme tension coming back possibly but again you are likely to know. Maybe there is a flaw in the casing on this saw.
  11. Don't see why it would be a problem
  12. Ask them if you can charge them £200 if they keep the logs as you can't squeeze anymore timber in your yard.
  13. I prefer my anchor below my rigging point also and for the same reasons. If the attachment point on the tree fails and yours is above chances are your anchor will fail also.
  14. Is this where there is a discrepancy between a tree surgeon and an arboriculturalist. From a tree surgeons perspective I would remove the tree as requested by the client. The arbiriculturalist in me would look at the possibility of retention and talk it through with them.
  15. Tm for lights for me is 350. Its the diversion signing and preroad close sign that add massively to the price
  16. Lancashire highways charge in the region of 1500 pounds just for the permission to close the road. It is the about a 1000+vat for tm to sign it. If its not too busy get a couple of extra men in high viz on the job to act as look outs put plenty signs up and crack on.
  17. There is a huge difference between the 064 and the 660 in terms of vibrations. My old 064 I could cope with for about 15 minutes and my hands would be ringing. With the 660 I could use it all day and not have a problem.
  18. I use a maillon to fasten the fixed end of my strop to my harness. I wouldn't fancy using one on my mainline though as it wouldn't be great for change overs.
  19. It is disgusting he could at least wear a wife beater. I do hope he had sun cream on.
  20. Near miss here as well. I now have a 10m and 27m rope thanks to not concentrating and being complacent.
  21. Fair enough 10-20% client dependent I think is perfectly acceptable
  22. Yes you can deadwood without notification. It is often worth giving the tree officer a heads up though so they are aware of what is going on
  23. I would have had something on the materials as well not alot but something. You have bought in at wholesale and had the hassle of sourcing, collecting or awaiting delivery all of which adds time and hence money.
  24. In a domestic setting sign writing I believe is an important advertising mode. Commercially there may be differences. I have two sets of sides which take ten minutes to swap if there is the need.
