  1. For me the going rate would be as much as you can get. Big rings are a pain to most people although I prefer splitting them to small stuff
  2. Starter motor might be goosed. Will it bump start from a push/tow. If it does the starter I interfering with one of The sensors meaning it won't start on the starter.
  3. We have a few tonnes of wood free to a good home if you can pick it up. Mostly willow but mostly processor diameter. Needs to be gone by Friday good access. Contact 07970521692.
  4. He can come and do a day or two with us to see if he really wants to go down that line of work
  5. I'm in Wigan and do tree reports of the type you would be after cover all the north west and Liverpool is only 30 mins away. Before anyone asks I'm qualified to do them and have professional indemnity. PM me if you are interested.
  6. Charge what you normally would. Despite what is said the church is a business in many senses so you should treat them as such. How ever much I love my job I won't do it for free or significantly reduced rates unless it is a real just cause.
  7. You will get reactive growth to compensate for different forces present. This can be anywhere where additional stabilization is required. This coup be the root system or within a union or different areas of branches. It can also be growth to strengthen a defect.
  8. Treeseer I would still say a steel cable brace is a fully dynamic system. There may not be quite as much movement as a cobra style brace but still is dynamic. An example of this is how winch cable stretches and also coils round a drum. The cable allows movement in all planes just limits the movement more so particularly in the horizontal plane thus limiting failure chance. A static system is a rod brace or propping system in the case of a large horizontal limb. This severely restricts the movement in any plane so is fundamentally a static system. The problem with PTI and other methods of tree inspection is you could justify tree removal in pretty much everycase I you were to push hard enough. To me I see minimal cause for concern particularly in the first picture in the thread. If you were to brace this tree you couldn't rule out a cupboard door type failure with a traditional dynamic brace whether this be cable of the cobra or steel type. What would prevent or significantly reduce this would be a rod brace through the union combined with a dynamic system within the crown.
  9. The cut away soft link is because of the ring at the end of the wire core. I do think it would go through with s bit of weight on it but not 100% about it. Think I'll give it a try.
  10. English prussic on my lanyard with a pulley. Fixed to my harness on my side d's by a triangular maillon so everything fits nicely then a three way crab at the other end. I should have a cut away as I pretty much always have a 3m wirecore on as my lanyard. It still works well with a standard prussic
  11. You are right I'm at a running club and am a bit of a bell end to boot:thumbup: In all seriousness you need to do something you might enjoy. I've took up bouldering again which is fantastic for your core
  12. Without permission you cannot enter the neighbours property to cut the neighbours tree. This includes anchoring into the tree on the neighbours side. This would be aggravated trespass. Any thing you cut off must be offered back it doesn't have to be given back. If you just throw it back you could be charged with fly tipping. In terms of pruning overhanging trees from the side you are working from you can enter the airspace as it is maintenance which the tree owner has a legal obligation to do. In terms of dropping stuff on the neighbours side if you do you are legally entitled to enter the property and remove what was dropped provided it is fine with minimal fuss and disruption. Seems like a pain in the backside job with a customer thinking they know law when they don't even know the basic you should offer the stuff back. Everytime I've offered no one has ever wanted to keep the brash maybe a log or two though.
  13. That isn't static bracing it is still flexible. Cable flexes. Rod bracing is static bracing. Back to the point though I can't understand the use of two flexible braces if there is concern a high brave such as the cobra brace anda rod brace through the union would be appropriate. Using a wire cable high up if there is concern over the potential strength of the cobra brace or double up as has been mentioned.
  14. Which ain't far off the price I said first which appeared to be met with disgust bah humbug
  15. I said 320 but that I the reason I don't price from pictures. At half a day round us 320 would be fair for a two man team. If it was going to take a day 500 would have been closer to the mark.
  16. From the pics looks an easy half day. 320 including the stump. Might be more if I saw it in the flesh though.
  17. Used ours today conifer topping started climbing and soon came to the conclusion that ladders would be better. Recently crown raised 20 birch on a car park again ladders and a strop as it was much faster and more efficient. I don't particularly like ladders but used safely in the right circumstances can be invaluable.
  18. Accessing a tree to make access quicker. If I've some on a job will sometimes use them to access then have them moved. I also have no issue using them to crown raise trees if I have several to do in a line and it is only small growth. They have there place usually though for me that place is back at the yard
  19. I've climbed on one for the last 5 years. Climb everyday and very rarely uncomfortable in it. I'm only a slight build though 5foot10 and 10.5 stone. Works well for me. That said I'll be getting something with more padding next time.
  20. I could do with something to find mine. Lost the van keys on the yard last night still not found them. Good job the locks and ignition on a land rover weren't made with security in mind
  21. 560 on a 15inch bar fantastic saw. So far no problems after a year
  22. To do it properly should involve a legal notice advertised on site much like a tpo planning notice. This then gives the owner of the tree chance to come forward.
  23. Its a 2003 and they are asking that much for it and it looks like a tangerine
