  1. I think some kits have a self life of twenty years
  2. Do yourself a favour and buy a ms 150 . no more heavy top handle saws for me
  3. The sound of a 070/090 is real good.
  4. I learnt the hard , finished a job of in heavy rain. I was ill for 3/4 days. no money coming in. my next purchase was proper rain gear . it pays for itself.
  5. Keeping warm while climbing in the winter is difficult. Cold winds for example are worse aloft you can’t wear to much otherwise movement is impaired. Plus if you’re rigging a tree down , half the time you’re waiting for the groundies sometimes minus 15 here in Berlin. No need to be cold nowadays. if you have the right clothing. Or should we copy what Wim Hof does.
  6. Wears out too quickly for my liking. I’m trying woolpower now , it’s 60/40 mix. ( Merino/Nylon )

  10. Small cuts for the first tankful or so.
  11. How about making something like this
  12. Unless it’s very slow growing , it won’t be very Christmas tree like. plus it’s for your Daughter , buy a nice Noble ?.
  13. Any chance of using the local Matbro . as a lift
  14. It was 25-30 years ago , the engine oil wasn’t the standard it is now. B&Q own brand oil , two pounds for five litres. I can remember meeting woodcutters who used waste engine oil. I’ve used proper chain oil ( oregon ) since being a climber .
  15. If i have the option to reduce my health risks , i’ll pay the extra money.
  16. In the past i‘ve used new unused motor oil , no problems. Without sticky additives. if vegetable oil turns to gum when hot , how the hell can you use for cooking. plus a well sharped chain won’t get hot.
  17. Been using Oregon oil for ever , only problem was with the ms 150 so I usually thin it with aspen. i recently tried another oil but was too tacky. I’ve tried the Stihl oil because of the 150 , but it was like water . had the same effect on the clutch as well. I know some people who just use vegetable oil straight from the supermarket. i think sometimes the manufacturers are too obsessed with it being sticky.
  18. Looks the business , affective upto 8 metres ( 25 feet ). 450 grams is that heavy for a hook?
  19. Iconic video again , you’ve done your fair share of work. nice seeing the ms 150 getting a work out .
  20. It was a hired machine , so I really can’t say.
  21. Black locust is the favourite here in Germany.
  22. Felled a black locust today with this on it .
