  3. A Beatles hit for me! But reading this does make me realise that a, music was better in the 60's and 70's and b, I feel old!
  4. Get the serial number then call the factory to check its provenance. Then check it as if it was any other used chipper. Wobbles in flywheel and road wheels, belts and pulleys and associated stuff, infeed rollers and shear bars. Ask what work they have done to it and how much warranty comes with it, check that it functions as it should and has no vices etc. Has it got a spares package with it and a trackable service history.....same as you ought to on any woodchipper. Good luck, hope it works out for you.

  6. Two phones in 17 years but had a couple of sparking 11,000 volt lines every quarter! But that was in the days where we did everything live and had a shut down every other year!
  7. That and deep pockets for the spares or electric blue pot!
  8. Were you chipping close to the machine? If the flap is right down then the chips can struggle to get out. Is there a change in shape of the chute as it changes direction? A bulge or some such may cause the chips to ricochet into each other. Check the pulleys as a worn pulley will reduce belt grip....some had a limiter fitted so that the engine didn't drop too far.

I seem to remember that the corner was milled off, hard face weld into the void and then the two faces ground back to give a 90degree corner - a lot of processes when an annealed through and through bar cuts down on the handling. I know of a tungsten tipped chipper blade, but that it is murderously expensive and will suffer damage and eventual wear. Stick to what was original, factor in these costs and get on with life.

  11. The GreenMech 152/202/252 were hard face weld and squared off with a surface grinder and they are still available. Newer machines have a shear bar which is hard through and through - but too hard and they can shatter and too soft means that they wear quicker. All blades and shear bars are, to one degree or another, a sacrifial item.
  12. We have fitted a tow ball in the past to tow a small trailer for some people in the past and we also fitted a "roof rack" over the bonnet on one! Otherwise people just fill the indeed with their kelter!
  13. Nice.....I always that Dr Alice Roberts wasn't scraping the bottom of the barrel miself! To the subject in hand, (ahem), roof tiles, possibly Roman, possibly Cotswold in origin? Where are you too?
  14. How many horses is it rated at? Are you sure about the belts? Are the Vee pulleys shiny at the bottom of the Vee? I would have suggested at fuel, belts or maybe the belief that it should be better but you got what you got!
  15. Do the belts feel taut when the engine is sat on them? Does the rotor feel that it turns freely enough? What engine is it? Is it a turbo Lombardini with ascrewed turbo? Is the engine breathing okay? Are you 100% sure that the fuel system is good? What kind of fuel pump is it?
  16. I thought that Kilworths handled the MultiOne!?! I never heard a bad word about the people at Kilworths from any side. Lewis's used to do it - Hubert Nightingale said it was good kit but dear.

  20. I see so many chippers that do not comply with the H&SE regs on ebay, and in danger of fetching strong money, it it beggars belief!
  21. There are HGV recovery firms with a sort of low loader with sliding axles to recover stuff if spec lift is too risky.
  22. GreenMech run a wagon and drag, both of which have either beaver or ramps. But I'm pretty sure you would be better off taking to a Spec-lift equipped outfit like Crouch's or another HGV recovery outfit.
  23. The wire carries the 12v signal to the coil. The coil is finger tight fit onto the spool. Perhaps the nut was too loose and not it wasn't in the right place. Do not over tighten as that could crush the coil and bugger it right up!
  24. Closer enough to RTM. Richard Taylor in Bucks was/is a TS dealer if you need help.
  25. Looks like a 190 to me. PSD in Colne, Lancs are the importers. Couldn't tell you who dealers are. Where aboots are the?
