  1. I would charge one man for half a day, by the time you get there set up, chip, rake, blow, collect cheque etc etc. more time of the working day will have gone than you thought in my experience ............................5 minute jobs
  2. looks like the filler I have on my stihl combi I recently got from F R Jones and it fits all my Husky saws 540 to 575 etc
  3. The problem is as already stated its "family" OK not immediate but never the less they figured you would go and do it for beer money, and not tescos finest either , there are 2 types of relative one that wants to pay your rate and above and the other that doesn't want to part with anything but would screw you down if the tables were turned, Ask me how I know
  4. Imagine a small tree that is 6 inchs at the base, you price it at £xxx I can cut it down in one cut and I can fire that through my chipper in one, all done in 10 minutes?? or you can fart around making it into firewood and chip all the branchs a inch or smaller stack everything neatly, rake all the saw dust etc. makes a little quick job a pain imo , and actually costs you more it could be argued.
  5. cheers shane
  6. Hi, does anyone know what the Torque setting / measurement is for the bolts that hold the blades in place. thanks
  7. I have a friend that bought a 560Xp from a show, purchased from a dealer not local to him, the local dealer will not do any warranty work to it, as it was not purchased from them,
  8. Put it this way if you were to come to me and ask for a days work, personally I Would give you a fair go, I am 40 I work with someone who is 45 we share the climbing. age isn't a issue fitness is, being the fastest isn't all important to me but making good progress is, more than anything in tree work you have to be able to "work" a tree ie (getting round a tree in a efficient way). but above all, having a can do attitude, addressing how you will do something rather than saying it cant be don't. book yourself onto a climbing course and take it from there,
  9. The market for commercial vehicles is a sea of shite, and finding a good one is like a needle in a haystack, IMO that's why I never travel far when looking at a used commercial vehicle, I will travel a good distance for something like a motorcycle. but some things arn't worth wasting your time on for a potential saving. I learnt the hard way as well
  10. Trust hold all my insurance's I do check them every time they come up for renewal but their prices always seem keen

I was having a few issues with my 200T so bought a 540 whilst it was being fixed, the 540 IMO is a great let down, poor build quality. and having todo a cold start after being left for not that long is a pain, (running lean I guess due to emissions regs). all in all I wish i never purchased it, if you have a 200T when the time comes, make it like Triggers Broom! (only fools and horse's )
  12. I have a Petzl Vertex Vent have done for quite a few years, best helmet I have owned to date, very happy with it comfy and has lasted well, will replace it with another one. The size range is Head circumference min.: 53 cm Head circumference max.: 63 cm
  13. I do have my fair share of stupid in me, but when I see pictures like this I wonder is people like this have balls of steel and are looking for a massive "rush" and actually appreciate the level of stupidity of their actions or that they are just darwin stupid,....................... my money is on darwin stupid
  14. After years of having the issue you describe, recently bought a DMM Rhino solves the problem,
  15. King Arthurs Tools 35818 Squire 18 tooth, 5/8" center hole | eBay when I used to do a bit of carving I bought one, you attach it to a angle grinder I used it once and threw it away, one of the most dangerous things I think I have ever used.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Turn your phone off...................... is my only advice
  17. I would imagine its blocked due to the service providers that you use.
  18. Yes you can still get it, I think its is for "Professional Use Only" whatever that means As a farm we buy it for doing stables fences etc we purchase 205 litre barrels, you can get 25 litre containers. Creosote supplier - Real traditional coal tar creosote supplied for professional use only
  19. I had someone phone on a Monday night last week at 9:45pm left a message wanting his apple tree pruned by Wednesday, last Friday someone phoned my land-line about some stump grinding asking if I could grind them out that afternoon..............message was left at about midday............. funny i never got that job.
  20. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MIG-MMA-Inverter-Welder-180Amp-240V-R-Tech-I-Mig180-0-finance-available-/171234399691?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item27de5d95cb Over budget, but for what it is its a good welder with good customer service back up, buy cheap and be frustrated.
  21. The simple answer is less friction, when I think back to the days of a blakes hitch and no cambium saver and some rain I shudder at the thought. I use a spider jack and and coccoon friction saver, makes life alot easier, and after18 years of tree work I'm not getting any younger
  22. Jeez where are you doing tree work? Albert Square? or coronation street?
  23. Might be a job for someone here............... Felling an ash tree - typical cost? - PistonHeads
