  1. Are any of the Mechanical SRT devices for sale over here? or are the only available to order from the america ? Links would also be appreciated cheers
  2. PhilIreland I would start off with a good old fashion prussic or similar mechanical devices are good but have some compromises, and are not the be all, (i do use a spiderjack) but as your starting off I would go with the KISS system............. Keep It Simple Stupid always worked for me!
  3. As carlos said basically, start with basic kit, basic hitchs, start low and go from there!
  4. R tech are local to me, I have a R tech Tig and also that Mig you have linked, great little machine would recommend, R techs back up is also top notch, I would not hesitate to recommend or buy their products. As for second hand I would say its a bit like a second hand chainsaw ....................generally its for sale for one reason................its knackered
  5. I would be interested to know how others price Ivy removal. I always go in with a fixed price, but i know sometimes you seem to get more than you bargained for I've never come unstuck pricing ivy jobs but know of one chap that put half a day on some and took 2 days all told.................. its a bit like conifer jobs ...........they go really well or really badly
  6. I can't believe some would do it for free, thats actually unfair to the client your working for imo, why charge one person and not the other? everything has a price. £10 or £20 if its like a 5 minute job and your next door yeah I can go with that its a "token", but coming to quote and booking it in that has to warrent a more realistic charge. I was chipping up one day and the neighbour asked if if could put some arrisings through my chipper, yeah sure it'll cost xxx, he looked surprised, why should he get my services free but not the person who has contracted me in?.
  7. You have to have a minimum charge £50 does sound cheap, you can be busy doing 5 minute jobs earning nothing. but sounds like they recieved poor service, but thats the way of the world.
  8. Heathen I thought this was common practice ............now I feel awkard and a little dirty......................... oh no did I just say that on a public forum.............
  9. Never had it happen, but thread lock is your friend.
  10. Thanks for the replys, much appreciated, I managed to get hold of the head of the planning department and as per the general opinion here, no restrictions re: AONB. Thanks!
  11. Job is in Herefordshire, not my normal stomping ground............
  12. Hi wondering is someone could help, I have a customer that has just moved to a area designated as a area outstanding natural beauty, its not a conservation area and according to the local councils online maps no TPO in force for the property, I have tried contacting the local tree officer however he seems like a difficult person to get hold of to say the least. So my question to the more informed, do I need to seek permission because of the area designation being area outstanding natural beauty? Thanks
  13. Old Mill Tree Care, your describing my T540XP I swapped my Husky for a Stihl 201 and glad I did, but unfortunalty none are as good as the 200T.................. sign of the times
  14. which way round are you firing it?
  15. could be the kind of thing Kramp sell KRAMP - It's that easy
  16. End of last year I dismantled a Sycomore that it transpired was filled with concrete. it turned a 2 day job into 3 and a half and we had one person sharpening chains pretty much all the time, steel wedges were our friends splitting the timber apart after you had cut as much as you thought you could get away with. Everything had to be hand balled out due to poor access personally I would stick a massive price on it or not do it, or crane the thing out. it was a royal pain in the back side

    wow!!!

There is a moral there.................................. don't rush going down ladders, obviously its diffcult to tell how close it is to the wires, but i'm impressed they are still up
  18. I bought a spiltter kit from flow fit, very happy with everthing supplied, wouldn't hesitate to use them again.
  19. base

    Pay

with so many variables its hard to give a definitive price, are you supplying any kit? pension? holiday? sick pay? paternity leave? working hours? perks? cash in hand?.............................
  20. we have 3 feral cats, that we got from a "feral cat rescue" they never come near the house in fact we don't see them that often, but the vermin population is being successfully controlled. I did laugh at your comment about staffords, never once would I ever put them in a category of vermin control, you would be deluded to think anything other than they can hold a sofa down well and that's about it . I should know as I have 2.
  21. I Had a LJ and spider Jack both lasted very well IE 5 years + , I try to be easy on my kit and get max life out of it, gone are the days of bombing out of the tree etc. it hurts the profit margin
  22. not if you have a use for them........... I agree from a time point of view which is what we view a job as but if time is not issue, why not utilise everything that you can?. me personally if it fits it chips
  23. I think you should at least ask for photos or at least pass on their email, someone might be interested
  24. base

    Krabs

I like DMM Fatboys tried many types over the years and for me they are my preference apart from the one I use with my spider jack which is a dmm rhino
  25. It might be worth checking to see if you can get a shorter shank, alternatively, as they are steel get someone to cut shorten and weld them back together would be my idea.
