  2. hope the guy pulls though ok Was this a commercially available unit or a homemade one? one strap or two? on my device i use two straps and have not yet had a failure or slippage also a plate inserted into a slot guarantees this on take downs Have had a couple of portawraps slide up though
  3. Havent yet cut the wrong tree down but did deliver 5 cube mulch to the 'wrong' house .it was in a new housing estate and the bloke thought his house was number 13 but was actually number 11 other owners were cheesed off big time and would'nt let me pick it up with the loader. ended up filling the bucket by shovel and driving next door.good exercise
  4. If you make a grcs get a winch with a self tailer.Highest number you can afford, will cost but will be worth it in the long run
  5. Thats the grapple i'm refering to though i welded a slightly longer curved plate on the bottom so as to trap logs better also allows you to grab logs and keep the weight closer at the loader end:thumbup1: the BMG's great for dragging brush piles too and a great labour saving tool
  6. bad luck mate sure it wont be the last! about a month ago i mananged to cut most of my little fingernail and part of the finger off in in one hit nearly healed up now but most painfull at the time
  7. schaffer loaders oscillate too. Also with the seat on the back part nothing sticks out when you go round a tight corner unlike an Avant get a branch manager grapple(BMG) and a log like the one in the previous post could be carried out inline with the loader, fantastic for feeding a chipper, placing logs into the truck,i could go on and on how great they are:thumbup1:
  8. grind it as is as much as possible then cut the stick off, grind the rest wont take that long(with a decent grinder) or sub it out
  9. Not sure if classified as the "flick" but i do aerial stacking, works at least 95% of the time:thumbup1:
  10. i have a dig around with a crowbar,pulled up allsorts,bbq plates,tools and of course rocks.
  11. i'd pursue them with legal action first and if that does'nt work sell the debt to a debt collector ( if thats an available option where you are)then walk a way and forget it. i always offer the client the woodchips/timber during the quote and say "your welcome to the chips/logs if you want but if you dont want them once they are off the property they become mine" usually stops any form of confusion But not always:sneaky2:not when the client is determind to take the p
  12. what that job needed is a nice little articulated loader:thumbup1:
  13. i cant see a divider in a basket catching on over here somehow:laugh1:
  14. i have a schaffer 2026 loader,best tool i ever bought.take it to just about every job with a 4 in 1 and a BMG grapple,saves energy and nearly zero ground damage:thumbup1:
  15. not quite an alaskan mill but have you considered a lucasmill dedicated slabber
  16. Beautifull weather here about 32 celcius today:thumbup1:almost a winter's day for here if it gets much colder i'm going to have to get a wooly jumper out:lol:
  17. bad news for all concerned, hope the bloke has some form of quality of life again ive had workers do pretty stupid things with chippers even after all the operating procedures and proccesses have been drummed in to them like one dickhead who used his foot to shove a log in no good shouting at them from the tree they cant hear you you can lead a horse to water but not make him drink
  18. when i started treework in Aus in 2004 i couldnt agree more with the original poster, just climb it however after a couple of years climbing in 40+ degree heat and high humidity i realized that if i was to continue in this line of work i was going to have to work smarter not harder.so i bought a nifty 17 metre mewp Access problems are not an issue here most yards can be accessed by a trailer lift on the other hand have had many issues trying to get good ground staff here so have(no one wants to work ) bought machinery instead i dont climb much now and i dont suffer from nasty cramp like i did when i was climbing either
  19. perfect. get a sign made.burglars will be fed to the pigs
  20. how buerocratic.makes me glad i live in australia:001_smile:
  21. i have two, ones good for parts since some so and so dropped it from about 10 metres onto rock. over here a 192t will cost about $630 and a 200t about $1600 there a good little saw with a 12'' bar and 050 chain and bar on it the chain and bar it comes with is rubbish Also being mostly plastic inside the bar area palms eating out the casing is not an issue never used a 200t. have used a 020
  22. Mostly use double estelon 9/16 and 5/8,all rigged on pulleys/blocks also have smaller braided lines have just aquired some 5/8 Yale polydyne
  23. theres a anti corosion paint you can buy (cant remember thr name though)paint the saw inside from new and clean regular and youll get longer life. certain saws seem to have better alloys.i have a 7 year old 338 husky with very little corosion, and a stihl 361 and 441 both about 2 years old where the side covers have been eaten out.and a 4 year old husky 395 that has consumed 2 oil pump housings so far
  24. no anvil seems very strange,if its anything like the 1800xl there will be an anvil or bedknife behind the feed wheels on the floor in front of the drum does it have a trapdoor underneath the drum?
  25. What about setting up a trail cam, cheap to buy, works on motion and at night
