  3. what no creosote? when i were a lad i worked at this estate in west sussex.all the young lads got to peel posts once a week and they was put into a tank with creosote and boiled it would penetrate a good inch into some posts depending on how dry the were
  4. i used to be a husky man,but after numerous issues with them not coping with the extreme heat conditions i seem to be a stihl man now, still have one husky though a 395xp cant fault it,i did buy a 441 and a 361 last year and must say that the 361 is an excellent saw but wish i had not bought the 441 weight power ratio isnt great And accidently reversing the chipper over it did'nt make it any better
  5. one of mine is 16 yrs old and has 2400 hrs on it a vermeer 1250t,over here you would consider this lightly worked, you do see this model still avaliable but generally have over 4000 hrs on them mine still chips a beauty but the clutch engagement feels knackered

  9. All waste removed from site, means all tree waste from the job, waste regs not so bureaucratic over here(yet) I avoid the local tip at all costs if i can,not only do you have to pay to tip its also a good place to get a puncture all the chip gets sold, the millable sections come back to my yard and get sawn up and the rakings go to the yard and eventually will go to tip when they get out of hand We recycle as much as possible:001_smile:
  10. my view is that once the client has accepted my quote with the words "all waste removed from site" the wood then belongs to me, prior to quoting i will ask the client if they want the chip or the wood, most people are glad to see the back of it unfortunatly alot of clients now are ellecting to keep the chip:thumbdown:
  11. what about an articulated mini loader:thumbup1: instead, does bugger all ground damage and can lift a great deal more
  12. doesnt have to be level only parallel, once the mill is setup you can easily skid one end round by hand to make final adjustments if you have to.Just have to make sure that there is no twist in the rails though.stand back and sight it Usually have to put a piece of ply under 1 corner of the base frame to get that rightbest to put the log on 8'' bearers so its easy to slide around too
  13. its our secret handshake:thumbup:
  14. nice,if your chasing winch rope Melbourne Rope and Splicing seem a good bet, they have a good website
