I have a cheap kelfri one cut down on the pallet forks, steel is of dubious quality but it’s a handy tool, will secure big bundles of brash and logs a lot better than a short grab but adds some weight.. I originally got it because I could not make my mind up what would be better ..the avant conventional timber grab or beak but it’s worked so well I’ve decided neither and stuck with this ! You can drive down the side of a dressed out tree and pick up all the brash in one or two passes by crushing it with the beak... that’s 3 times the size of the avant one! Keep meaning to get more pics but the kind of jobs it’s used on are usually the kind where no photos get time !
  2. This would be the sensible route to take instead of this ridiculous alternative.. our fuel emissions on the scheme of what third world countries , the air industry and fishing by scouring the sea bed and releasing locked up carbon off it is probably virtually 0 in comparison.
  3. Actually I’ll re fraze that as it’s what a lot of folk do if they are doing clearance for development and construction.... I guess they will be running white ?
  4. It’s not going ....not for forestry or agriculture any way..... that is what the bulk of us do on this forum not construction.
  5. I think what we have to worry about is if the construction industry has been stopped from using it is where we stand... I can argue we do forestry and have some cattle so our 4 tractors will be having red in them but are we are exempt from putting 20 litres a day in chippers and skidsteers ???

  9. Really don’t agree ! How are you supposed to maintain a sensible price for food production or forestry paying full duty on fuel ... We power our electricity on red when there is no wind or sun and quite frankly would be fecked without it along with most of my neighbours who are miles from any electricity connections pylons etc...

  11. my current one. One I retired after 5 years. I did have one slightly tear but it was one of the first ones and I’m not sure if I brought the metal hook I had through the webbing on that one, but haven’t bothered on the last two and there is no damage.
  12. I’ve hung 880’s and 3120’s with 4ft bars lots of work most weeks with 395’s and 500is and not had an issue
  13. Don’t forget gullet angle and depth will have just as much effect or more maybe than cutter length... I have found on worn bars going back to a file guide necessary on the endings of a chain when the drive links have worn and given even more play... your always going to have one direction stronger than the other no matter how good you think you are at freestyle sharpening.
  14. Any pictures of your chains ? My theory is if you don’t keep each cutter the same length , pitch and angle both sides you wear out bars quicker.. You should be getting months out of a bar even cutting that much before the wear becomes too noticeable and even then if you keep an eye on even sharpened cutters the cut won’t deviate too much.
  15. You don’t really want fuel in the cab mind... I keep file kits , wedges, axes and bars and socket sets under the seat and the first aid behind the drivers seat, amazing how many little storage and cubby holes are in the newer transits. I would keep the fuel in the back with the saws and take it in with them, that’s £90 sitting there filled with aspen and bar oil!
  16. You should get all of that under the passenger seat bar the fuel though mind.

Most of us have 100s of ks worth of equipment , constant training of staff for the latest BS legislations , loler and maintenance of the equipment to keep it legal , insurance of equipment, public liability and more insurances road taxes ,permits etc ... working 7 days a week on site to late at night on paper work ..it’s a fair difference from a plumber turning up with a bag of tools and cracking on... if your lucky you can find a subby who’s hungry to feed his crack habit and will do it for £150 because he’s desperate for work and gives no shits of running the industry further in to the ground though, good luck 🤞🏻

  19. Just had to get my yearly 2511 so will carry on with them for a bit , I’m just giving our ground version a run through it’s paces but I do like it...What are you using yours for mate ? Like a direct replacement for a 40cc saw or pruning as well?

  21. My ex had mine done as soon as he started bolting on the scent of an in heat bitch, I can honestly say it transformed him over night and he never left my side since but I do think he was done to young as his joints are suffering now.

  23. I can’t really either but the 540 if this is the future is a great saw , I’ve only the rear handled version but I’m tempted for the top handle off the back of that.

Folk look at the 200t with rose tinted spectacles and I doubt any spent real serious time with them other wise they would be happy with what they have now... apart from the crap anti vibes I’d had enough of them by the time they went out of production... early models had a stupid tank breather design that would easily get ripped off causing issues , the apparent retro fit kit fell off after two minutes, there was a brief run where they had it sorted then they messed about with the carb for epa regs so much it made them unreliable . I can remember every old climber that had used the old 020 (alloy model) hated the new one ... I quite liked it at the time because it was lighter and the chain brake worked but the very early models had a habit of dropping there air filters as they had a badly designed quick release screw and exhausts that seemed to crack when you looked at them.
