First attempt at dining table. My wife has been busy with the Tung oil. We used the Lucas planer then the Lucas sander both worked well and were easy to set up. Having trouble deciding on the legs. Initially tried three X shaped black metal but they looked too much like a trestle table, sprayed them gold, better but not right.

From what I've read it's Charlie Kray's stepson who is selling them off after his mother died, might take a mooch over to the auction, not that I'll buy anything.

Clarity On Hedges That are both Deciduous & Evergreen
Steven P replied to GordonM's topic in Trees and the Law
Not sure of the legalities, but if you had to split the remaining costs 2 ways and not 3 how would that fit in the grand scheme of things? OK not perfectly fair but if you all get a reasonable outcome and still talk to each other a few hundred ££ each to cover that other 1/6 might not be the end of the world. If you look through the posts here the common consensus is conifers reduced in height look a bit pants - take them out which should be the cheaper option, over time householders can trim the laurels back themselves. Number 4 is making a reasonable start - could go with "you want them reduced, you pay" - and if you can all agree which trees to keep so much the better. -
I don't think you needed anything for a shotgun before 1968 and even then a shotgun could be 20" barrel, after that you needed a shotgun licence and in 1988 you had to store them securely.

best way of removing tree and stumps
openspaceman replied to Hog a Log Hogson's topic in General chat
Since the 1986 forestry act there is a presumption against clearing woodland for agriculture. Prior to that they were interchangeable, subject to felling licence. Now you would have a problem getting it without a restocking condition. -

Hi all, I have a Stihl TS400 saw which required a new crankshaft, cylinder and piston. I also fitted a new spark plug and refurbished the carburettor. I rebuilt the saw and when I attempted to start it, it fired up for about 30 seconds and then died. Now it won't even start. It doesn't even sound like it will start now. Any ideas or advice on what it could be please?. Thanks.

There is nothing wrong with being content in life, and if pottering around grafting on the ground is it, then go for it.

All these cheap skid steer loaders about…….
Tree monkey 1682 replied to Treetom15's topic in Large equipment
Most of the decent compact track loaders are over a ton in weight, but you might want too look at the merlo cinglo compact track skidsteer might be a bit lighter also u can get hydraulic winches and flails for same machine. But expect to have to take cpcs in tracked skidsteer certs or tracked carrier cert on anything to do with utilities. -
Leeks. They're nice just fried up with some cabbage, like onions but sweeter. Even nicer with some lardons or pancetta added as well.

An impact wrench with 500nm of torque will stop turning a big auger long before a drill with 250nm. Impact wrenches provide jolts of peak torque to fulfil their design function of loosening or tightening a machine thread. All that happens when you stick an auger on them is that the tensile strength of the wood fibres absorbs the jolt of toque and the auger fails to advance any further. Impact drivers are use to drive screws into wood, yes, but the purpose of the jolts of torque there is to prevent cam out- where the driver bit slips in the head. Driver bits with a positive lock on the fiuxing head (such as timberlocks with their hex head) do not require an impact driver and will in fact drive far faster with the sustained torque offered by a drill. I must have explained this a dozen times over the years on here, and yet still people just can't grasp such a simple fact. A long arm brace on a quality drill allows you to impact far more torque into a wood thread or auger bit than you ever could with an impact gun.

Thanks for the response, what vehicle are you using? I'm fairly confident I can make it fit but I don't know anyone near by with a similar size grinder to try out for size I thought tie down points would be the best option, ill enquire with the chaps that did my tipper conversion

Just more decent, steady tree work from a guy who shows it nicely. Particular good section on lifting rigs from 7-15 minutes.
