  2. If you ordered the spring through a Schliesing dealer a quick call on Monday will set you right. I’ve found Dave at overland extremely helpful with any questions on ours when fitting new parts.
  3. Where abouts in Cumbria are you?
  4. Well of course people did not buy their house then. And I totally agree about upgrading. I would like to move out of suburbia into proper countryside. But to do that even for a smaller house means finding about £150,000 extra, so it just ain’t gonna happen. So yes, we all lose by having high house prices, unless we are lucky enough to inherit or for some other reason have multiple houses.
  5. An interesting liaison. An unholy union if you will. A Field Maple and I think a Hornbeam in intimate embrace.

  7. I wasn't grumpy until the word faucet. It's a f-ing tap 😄
  8. I'm not a fan on unnecessary barbed wire, I've found a dead roe buck that probably died from an infected stomach gash that I think was probably due to barbed wire. In the two pieces of woodland I own I've not had problems with the public. The land around our house does suffer a bit from stray livestock as many farmers down here don't seem to believe in fencing. Personally I find it amusing to have a small heard of horned cattle including a bull, cows and calves in our woodland but not everyone does. It will depend greatly on where the woodland is and what you want to do with it. I tend to like a more natural feel, so blackthorn, hawthorne or gorse along with a mix of bramble would be my choice to keep people out. If you want the woodland to look like a carpark or suburbia go with pyracantha etc.
  9. Buffalo has recently been bought by Ben Fogle.. I'm hoping there may be some eagerness to expand into new Industries. So hopefully asking now won't fall on death ears.. Perhaps also send another email of a few of us do they may take it on board
  10. The Council can order works under Highways Act, it qualifies the works for exemption under the Forestry Act 1967. Joined up.
  11. I like stuff like this, I though others might too, if so I could always add more.

  15. I must have bought one of the last pairs of fellhunters and now that I want another pair I can't find them anywhere and the arbortec website doesn't list them anymore. I like the high leg and the soles have stood up to walking on a lot of sharp rock. I can't see any similar boots apart from spending big bucks on some Pfanners. Anything I'm missing ? Any recommendations? Anywhere still got size 8/42 fellhunters on the shelf ?
  16. Love the cafe unrequited love story! Not sure what I've got on but would like to watch the rugby! Bonus daughter doing a roast for 8 people later which is usually a good affair! Bauble, Land, Squeak.
  17. Anybody else there to witness a fantastic game? A friend asked me down as he has permanent seats there. I have been twice before and not enjoyed it as it was either freezing cold or raining or both but this time the weather was perfect and I think they seem to have altered the floodlighting as everything seemed so clear. The atmosphere was great and also better than previous occasions I have just watched the Welsh game and thought that they did well in spite of the score. They were not only up against a great side but also up against a side that had obviously been given a strong dressing down by the management! The quality of passing and kicking is a joy to watch and also my attention is with the Red Roses whose handling and passing is also superb. Being a sad old git I can watch Ellie again and again!

  18. It is a rare condition when certain people working with wood all their lives have their brain matter replaced with sawdust!
  19. I am pretty sure the moral amongst the Russians is as low if not more so . They are deserting in droves .

  21. No mate, its not that big, must be the aspect of the photo! You can easily stand and split from the ground. Guy that built it for us made sure it was sub 750 kg for the road.
  22. Picked one up in Aldi today actually.. wouldn't have seen that 20 years ago 😂
  23. Yeah I use radmoors a fair bit. But still too far to drive. Always happy with the service provided and would recommend. Latest battery husky hedge trimmer was delivered next day from them. Honey ordered Friday arrived the following Friday with delivery charged at £9.99. Is what it is I suppose, nobody died I got my goods but I do feel like the delivery charge is a bit steep for the timescale.
  24. The last decent sized job I planted was about 30,000 mixed hardwood, 14,000 of them an experimental Sessile Oak block, with a mix of UK and German provenance, FC site over at Abbots Wood near Polegate, East Sussex. All trees had to be staked and tubed at the end of every day due to excessive browsing by the exploding deer population., then had to replant and re stake hundreds of them every Monday due to the weekend vandalism. I had planted a similar amount every Winter for the best part of 25 years, but this was the end of the line for me, stood there at 5am digging in the dark with a head torch on to get the numbers in and make it pay, only to have the whole lot ravaged within 5 years by grey squirrels, no thanks.
  25. Agree. I think they're unrelated, OSM has just been particularly unlucky! They probably share causes; the same occupations or too much of one thing can lead to either or both of them.
