Good luck on that with my first bike. A BSA Bantam, of indeterminate parentage. My, but it was definitely “ entry level “ motorcycling. 😆

AI is helping to decode animals’ speech. Will it also let us talk with them? WWW.NATURE.COM The complexity of vocal communication in some primates, whales and birds... "Alexa, tell the dog to fart outside." Could become a reality.

Agreed. I must say that for a forum I respect, and use as an information gathering utility, I regard the antics of many folks on the subjects not dealing with timber related issues as very disappointing indeed. I don’t have any problem with banter ( which is often very amusing) but name calling and insults really lower the tone. I’m by no means a snowflake, but I have standards. As a moderator on an unrelated forum, I appreciate the fine line trodden by those folks trying to keep us all in check.

I recommend getting an Imax B8, B6 or the various off brand clones (of a chinese item). This is intended for RC lithium charging but it will also do a very good job of lead acid, telling you exactly how much charge has done in, how much was in it with a discharge test. Generally Pb batteries are over rated abot 4x becuase of the way they degrade, this makes them last about 10x longer than if a smaller battery was specified. I generally say if measures at 50% capacity its time to be aware of future problems. At 25-40% you can expect problems if you leave lights on or dont give it ample chance to recharge. Below 20% you should expect problems, keep a jump starter with you and consider replacing. However theres little point replacing one if it will be used once, left to discharge for three years and then need replacing again.

I think that would be fair, although you'd probably want the timber too to make it pay for you.

That means a lot of people need to be paid off as threats against lots of people wouldn't work and even then its a lot of people and money and not everyone will comply, and they could leave testimonials that would be released after their death implicating those above and below them.

I store mine stalk up in a cool place. Never tried stalk down, having said that. Key is that they don't touch each other, and you chuck out any mouldy ones sharpish. Some of them at least will last until the new year. Only store really good ones, don't bother with any even slightly bruised / battered ones... In theory you can store them touching wrapped in newspaper, but I've never had time to wrap, and don't know how you'd then check them.

Morning all, Changing main drive belt on Jensen chipper. One of those with 4 belts bonded together. Was a pig to remove yesterday. I’m fitting 4 singles hoping that will be easier. Then got to drill out the seized bolts I had to chisel off to get lower cover off to get proper access. Still, rather do this under cover than have the old belt fail on site!

The machining marks which go around the piston are completely worn away, so yes I'd say that is pretty worn and new piston needed. You can probably clean up and reuse the cylinder, definitely worth a go. Possibly also look for a Meteor piston , makes the experiment cheaper and they work pretty well.
