  6. Not our cooking, but going round next doors on Boxing Day and they have said - We have everything from Turkey, Venison, Salmon, Lobster, prawns, beef Wellington, caviar I think it may be stretchy jogging bottoms that day!
  7. Fair play, that looks awesome.
  8. They wont be genuine at 25 new. Unless its salvaged stock.

  10. The 260 was a decent machine, reliable too.
  11. It is. Maybe we need a 'making the good news today' thread as there is just far too much bad news lately for my liking, the good news seems to get washed over.
  12. Thanks Steve, Its not a fuse as that would merely melt. What I saw was wreaths of smoke of something burning not melting. Vet Mem The other half would not know one end of a multimeter from the other, let alone buy me one. She is more into socks and underpants! I have three and a reasonable amateur understanding of how to use them. Can't see how that would help as when I eventually get to take it to bits I expect to find some charred electrical component Was hoping that the excellent forum would have an idea of what was likely to be burned out by 12 v shoved in the wrong spur of the key switch It has to be an electrical component or wire and affecting the starting process. My guess would be some thing that is associated with the spark generation.
  13. If it sounds too good to be true then very often it is! Comes up as a scam on my search🤔
  14. Never mentioned by the 'fans' of Labour of course.
  15. But it's good news.
  16. I thought that this would be in the news thread. Government waters down farm inheritance tax plan WWW.BBC.CO.UK The government has now said it will lift the intended threshold from £1m to £2.5m.

  19. Its an interesting conundrum. Id say in the UK, fear of theft etc would deter companies from prominent 'yards'. Everywhere I worked when in the UK was hidden in an industrial area, or down a farm track, never outward facing signage. Here in Canada, theft is not an issue, but you never see big roadside advertising for tree firms, I do wonder if it would be helpfull though, put the company name in peoples heads. Truck signage however is very effective in my mind. I wouldnt know how France differs, Id be tempted to give it a go for a year maybe 2 and see, its only a lock up, not hard to move into and out of.
  20. Used a Forst TR6 and TR8 both are great as usual an 8 inch machine is so much more productive at the expense of being easy to get into places. The vari track 8 inch forst maybe the quickest chipping machine I've used. I've seen a lot of broken forsts in my time though so I wouldn't get one. Greenmech 165 Evo I think is the best of the 230 size chippers. The 205 Evo on tracks is great but it feels like a big unit in the woods tracking about . Jenson 540 is again an slightly bigger than 6" but a great machine. The rocking track base for level is a bit crap Vs veritrsck. Dealer backup is shocking. Check out the greenmech it's great. The bigger timberwolf like the 280 have variable track speed which is a good send it you use it to go rough places. Not sure if it's an option on a 230 tracked as I've not used one.
  21. Get the other half to get you a decent multimeter for Christmas, I have had them since I was 12 years old...saved me a small fortune.
  22. The "warehouse" has some pretty impressive architecture👍
  23. Some very hard wood is best mixed with softwood or split a bit smaller, oak and laurel come to mind. As others have said, to test the wood correctly, take a big lump, split it and measure the centre. Looking at your picture again, it looks like a piece of some sort of palm...a bit weird.
  24. There is " kiln dried wood " akin to flash frying a steak , then there is kiln dried wood that has been in the kiln long enough to make it dry all the way through and at the same time loosing some of the volitiles and then there is air dried wood ( my favorite ) . 15% moisture is 15% moisture however its achieved but , air dried for me all day long .
  25. VID_20251223_171601.mp4 A repeat client, newly retired from a caravan dealership where he worked as a fitter/mechanic, took these motors off a caravan that had been in an accident. In exchange for some tree work and firewood, I now don't need to pop a vein in my neck pushing 1000kg into my garage each evening. Yet to try it on grass but I've a job in January where we can give it a Wang. Just in case it doesn't work, my colleague will bring his 4x4 mower to tow it into place. It this proves successful, I'll look at a more beefed up jockey. I need to adjust a rubber air hose to give the control box under the hood more room. I'll also upgrade the battery for a higher capacity one. VID_20251223_155548.mp4 VID_20251223_121329.mp4
  26. Yes that’s right, 16-23. Light, agile and good performance i meant the tw150
  27. Sounds like the 16-23 SafeTrack ? Unfortunately no longer in production due to the engine emissions regs , a brilliant chipper if you can track one down although most owners tended to keep hold of them. I agree in it being potentially better than the AT150 which had a fixed track base. The Tracked EVO 165 is a very capable 6" machine.
