  1. Do the same rules apply to a tree on council land as they do on private land? ie a council tree with branches overhanging a domestic property. Can the home owner cut back the same as if the tree was on private property? Thanks
  2. I bought something similar. Not the same brand. It was a Chinese copy of the jensen model. Thought it would be handy to take into back gardens, when people were asking for chippings. Didn't keep it long. Wasn't using it enough. It was ok, but not sure about the longevity of it. Everything is a copy. The engine is a honda copy. That seemed ok, and I suppose if you replace everything as it goes with genuine honda parts, you've got the real thing eventually!

    New 880

I like everything you're saying, but just thinking back to my 2-stroke bike days. We used to do something similar, setting the revs for a thankful. I remember some people suggesting the engi e could develop a flat spot running the engine at the same revs for a prolonged period
  4. I've got a v-reg mitsubishi L200. Don't know if it's the best but I'm happy with it. 150k on the clock, had it for a few years, goes to work most days, only had to service it. Passes mot each year. Only downside is it's thirsty, I reckon I average 23-24mpg. Don't know how that compares to other similar makes
  5. I think it's a great idea. And if you are prepared to relocate you might find someone who would employ you as well. Only downside is you would have no excuses for being late for work in the morning. Put it out there as much as you can. Something will turn up
  6. They'd better get on with the other 50 odd trees I can see in the pic. That'll look nice when they've finished ?
  7. Why touch it in the first place There's nothing anywhere near it!
  8. Ask the gardener how he was going to do it if his shoulder wasn't bad ?
  9. I've just bought some end/cut sealer. (Can't remember the brand). Quite expensive, I'm sure it's PVA!!

    Aspen 2 oil

Is it not recommended to use aspen on older tools which been run on standard 2-stroke? Is there a recommended procedure for performing a switch?
  11. Is the £700 price for the assessments only?
  12. I think you have had bad luck. I have a chipper runs on the same engine, and had various dealings with air cooled lombardini in the past. Always found them very reliable. I change the oil bath every 30 hrs. Not sure what the frequency should be, but it always looks like it needs doing. Would the fact it's a grinder and the engine isn't always level have anything to do with it?

    Tool thefts

The police have barely got the resources to tackle serious crime. I'm afraid theft of tools ranks way down on the list
  14. Obviously I don't know the exact circumstances, but surely approaching someone with a running chainsaw trumps a knife. Maybe it was a gang of 8 or so. It would have to be, wouldn't it, to keep a crew at bay and hitch a chipper up and get away??
  15. Not got a vast amount of experience. Only ever owned two sets of gaffs, but they don't look too bad to me. You may want a good point on a dead elm or something similar that's gone like concrete. Tend to agree with tree fancier. Good technique is key
  16. Thanks. That is what I was thinking. Someone has quoted me £70/80. Said it's a big job, lots of labour. They might make a better job of it, but the blades aren't bad. I think if I offset them enough to get a flat file in on the right angle that should do. Do you use a flat file similar to one you get with a chainsaw filing kit? (For the depth guage)
  17. Thanks. They're cutting ok. Just thought there might be some way of giving them a tickle without going the hole hog. Know what you mean about hs80. Had experience. If these aren't as bad I might have a go at taking them apart. I'm blaming you when it goes fits up. ??
  18. Hi Does anyone know if you can sharpen blades on a stihl hs81r without removing them from the machiine and taking them apart? Thanks
  19. Yes. I've got a reference no. Says quote is good for 30 days, apparently! What a load of nonsense tho. I asked an insurance co to breakdown a quote once, ie what each portion of the amount for. They couldn't tell me. I'm sure they think of a figure and double it
  20. Well, the quote is good for 30 days, so a bit of investigating tomorrow and then I think I'll give it a shot. Nothing to lose really!
  21. Just had an automatic renewal quote for my car insurance (£407.00) i won't name the company. Went on a comparison site and got a quote for £212.00 ! It's the same insurance co. !!!! Two questions, What's that all about? More practically though, can I accept the quote off the comparison site and ask them to send my NCB to themselves?!?!
  22. Next time you're having a bad day!
  23. No 1. Maybe passing stuff on so they are not struggling past each other. Defo a day to be climbing. Doesn't look like enough space to terminate a zip line unfortunately. The 72m crosses a road? Wouldn't trust any zip line I've ever set up to go over traffic.
  24. Thanks. I didn't know if I need permission which is why I put the post up. I thought I might need to inform the rail. Since 2004 I have never done a job anywhere near a rail track and then I was working for someone.
  25. Thanks. I won't be doing anything until I've had direct contact with rail network
