  1. I think you're right. I've noticed the inline fuel filter on my chipper picking up more during the dry spell. You can get cleanable inline filters. But, the ones I've seen are metal cartridges, and you can't see when they need cleaning. I use the disposable type. You can buy 10 for about £12 on web.
  2. Aerial rescue is definitely one of those situations where 'prevention is better than cure'. But even when all precautions are taken things happen. What's dissapointing is, we do everything we can to satisfy hse, insurance companies and when something happens, as in Sean's case, it's still a battle. Incidentally, who climbs with a first aid kit? I may be heading for a slating here, but l don't. If l nick myself l either carry on or come down and sort it out, if it was serious, what on earth can you do in a tree with a first aid kit!
  3. If you've been paying £9 from the day he started l think a rise is due. He still has things to learn, but think back to when he started and you had to tell him everything. As people are saying, it sounds like he is considering looking elsewhere. Do you want to start again with someone new, who may not be as keen
  4. I understand what you are saying, and yes, qualifications are important. More so now than ever. But. I learnt more about tree work from a guy in the eighties though, who didn't have a qualification to his name. He also didn't have a chipper at the time, but that's another story!!!
  5. Fantastic watch. Very professional. Including the filming. That was like a Hollywood production. just off to reduce another conifer?
  6. Thanks bill. Looks good!
  7. It's an old and l mean old kwikchip. But it's really easy to maintain and dead reliable
  8. Mine has that engine also. I can take some pics of the cover tomorrow for you so you can see about air vents etc Thanks. That would be great.
  9. My chipper has a lombardini 625 engine. It isn't covered and exposed to the elements, dust etc. I want to put a cover around it. It's air cooled though. Could this be an issue?

    Stihl MS362 saga

I"ve had a similar problem with a 362 and another saw. It started when l switched changed to husky 2 stroke oil. I didn't work it out straight away. Started messing with carb settings, with no joy. Then l just thought, l'll go back to my old 2 stroke oil. That sorted the problem. If you are running husky 2 stroke, just try changing to stihl. If your not, sorry ignore my text, it must be something else

    Greasing

I happened to notice my grease gun, which was in the bouncing hot shed had leaked slightly. The viscosity of the grease was more like oil. It started me thinking, do we need to pay attention to greased parts in this hot weather?, do moving parts get any hotter than usual? And will grease run out of purged bearings if they get hot? Thanks
  12. Is it just recently the pressure has dropped? Water companies sometimes reduce the pressure in drought conditions. It might explain why there is no sign of leaks at the moment as well Sorry. Just seen it's been 2 years. Can't be that

    MS 362 issue

Got some different 2 stroke oil today. Drained the tank, added new fuel and straight away, it's working fine! I'm surprised more people haven't had issues

    MS 362 issue

Thanks. I think it is a fuel delivery issue. I recently changed my 2 stroke oil from red stihl to the top of the range husky oil. It's only the second tank full in the 362. But my blower and the 362 both don't seem to like it. Someone told me that the build up of deposits you get on the red can be removed too quickly by the clean 2 stroke oil and cause problems. I don't know!
  17. Hi. Can anyone help I've got a ms362. It starts, will rev ok, as soon as you introduce it to a piece of wood it struggles, if the wood is big enough it completely cuts out. I've not tried anything to rectify it except cleaning the air filter. (which wasn't bad). I'm putting it in on friday, just wondering if there is anything obvious/easy that l am missing? Thanks in advance

    ID please

Not a great pic, but can anyone tell me what it is?. Seen it before, but not this amount. Not damaging the tree. Any treatment? Any treatment needed? Thanks
  20. I had a 4x4 once with non standard tyres. On full lock they would catch the mud guard. Just on one side though, strangely
  21. It's never going to be cost effective to investigate and prosecute. It's another tory scare tactic to put people off burners, because they've all got shares in the energy companies ( maybe )
  22. I think there is comparisons with desiel. Years ago, desiel was cheaper than petrol, but once desiel became popular the price went up. They've seen the popularity of woodburners and thought 'how can we make money?" If they were serious about the environment, there's far more pressing matters they could address. People being self sufficient, reducing their heating bills doesn't suit this government
  23. Does anyone know what the government has got planned for wood burners, with regards to tackling air pollution?
  24. Sorry, just realised I've messaged wrong person doh!!!
  25. Not wanting to boast, but I've got quite a big one. If l was you l wouldn't go too big. Apart from looking ridiculous, you can't carry the weight. When i made mine, l considered the height of the chipper chute, in hindsight l think l would've made it smaller with an adjustable deflector roof like someone mentioned
