  1. I think I need a new hydraulic motor for my tipper. I have taken the old one off. (See pic). The solenoid has defo gone, I think the motor needs a recon, it's leaking from somewhere. I have found a new flowfit one for £165.00 (I thought a good price) I can't see anyone reconditioning that for much less. The tipper is single action. The new flowfit one has a 4.5 litre reservoir. I think mine is 6 litre. Do people think 4.5 litre is enough? Thanks in advance for any advice
  2. There are ways to deal with people like these, some legal, some not, I suppose that depends on what type of person you are dealing with. All scum. Unfortunately, we have all had a customer like this. It's easy for me to say,(1000 Is a lot of wonga) but don't stress yourself out. He is probably trying it on. Even if he's playing hardball, there's ways of dealing with it. Interesting that you said he's quite wealthy, isn't that always the way. Good luck with it. Let us know how you get on, and when it's resolved put his name out
  3. I got one as a hire vehicle in USA about 15 yrs ago. Crashed it! Then got a landcruiser which I liked better. None of this is helpful really! It came off better than the American car I crashed into!

    Ram motor removal

Thanks. I'm not going to attempt to reconditioning it myself. I was wondering if I had to disconnect the pipework before lifting the bed. It's single action, so only one pipe
  5. Hi What is the best way to remove the motor for my ram for reconditioning . Can I disconnect the ram from the bed, then lift the bed by some other means to get access?
  6. I always use an independent company to inspect my equipment. But if you are qualified, can you sign off your own gear? Might take a course myself if you can

    Car battery courier

Trying to. Reading their return policy it states that the customer must pay for returns, but doesn't say if they arrange collection. Not the easiest co. to deal with they sent the wrong battery so I suppose that says it all
  8. Does anyone know a national parcel courier that will take car batteries. Bit of a strange one. Had a battery delivered (by yodel) It's the wrong size. Tried to send it back with yodel. They say they don't take batteries as do all the other couriers I've tried?
  9. I'd also echo what Ian said. Loads of people at it. I'm probably charging less than 10 yrs ago.
  10. Employers liability is a legal requirement in U.K. (maybe not Ireland). NPTC relevant qualifications are strongly recommended. You won't get insurance with a lot of companies without them. Public liability insurance is also good practice. I'd say that's the bare minimum for domestic work. If you're looking for commercial contracts you won't get them with 'the bare minimum!'
  11. Can't help, but my 362 does exactly the same. I always thought it was because I use it a lot less than any other saws. Been trying to use it more, but no improvement
  12. I will check. It's an ugly sycamore on common land. Seeded itself at some point. It is now covered with ivy, probably not harming it, but not doing it any favours aesthetically. (That's another issue) The other issue is that I could really do with getting in the tree to set up
  13. Do the same rules apply to a tree on council land as they do on private land? ie a council tree with branches overhanging a domestic property. Can the home owner cut back the same as if the tree was on private property? Thanks
  14. I bought something similar. Not the same brand. It was a Chinese copy of the jensen model. Thought it would be handy to take into back gardens, when people were asking for chippings. Didn't keep it long. Wasn't using it enough. It was ok, but not sure about the longevity of it. Everything is a copy. The engine is a honda copy. That seemed ok, and I suppose if you replace everything as it goes with genuine honda parts, you've got the real thing eventually!

    New 880

I like everything you're saying, but just thinking back to my 2-stroke bike days. We used to do something similar, setting the revs for a thankful. I remember some people suggesting the engi e could develop a flat spot running the engine at the same revs for a prolonged period
  16. I've got a v-reg mitsubishi L200. Don't know if it's the best but I'm happy with it. 150k on the clock, had it for a few years, goes to work most days, only had to service it. Passes mot each year. Only downside is it's thirsty, I reckon I average 23-24mpg. Don't know how that compares to other similar makes
  17. I think it's a great idea. And if you are prepared to relocate you might find someone who would employ you as well. Only downside is you would have no excuses for being late for work in the morning. Put it out there as much as you can. Something will turn up
  18. They'd better get on with the other 50 odd trees I can see in the pic. That'll look nice when they've finished ?
  19. Why touch it in the first place There's nothing anywhere near it!
  20. Ask the gardener how he was going to do it if his shoulder wasn't bad ?
  21. I've just bought some end/cut sealer. (Can't remember the brand). Quite expensive, I'm sure it's PVA!!

    Aspen 2 oil

Is it not recommended to use aspen on older tools which been run on standard 2-stroke? Is there a recommended procedure for performing a switch?
  23. Is the £700 price for the assessments only?
  24. I think you have had bad luck. I have a chipper runs on the same engine, and had various dealings with air cooled lombardini in the past. Always found them very reliable. I change the oil bath every 30 hrs. Not sure what the frequency should be, but it always looks like it needs doing. Would the fact it's a grinder and the engine isn't always level have anything to do with it?

    Tool thefts

The police have barely got the resources to tackle serious crime. I'm afraid theft of tools ranks way down on the list
