  1. I’m pretty sure material and labour isn’t zero rated? You pay the vat on materials and vat registered sub contractors/ trades etc then claim it back at the end. If you can build a new building separate to your existing and on a different footprint it should be classed as a new build and vat can be reclaimed. Rebuild on the footprint and that could be classed as renovation or a rebuild and may not be vat refundable. Best to get this confirmed before the demolition ball moves in🤔. What people used to do was re-claim the vat to pay for your kitchen units and bathroom suite.
  2. Got my attention when someone mentioned suspenders😳
  3. At least 2 x well placed towers I find is best as it cuts down the amount shadows.
  4. Could you not fire a line to the area of the stem you want to ascend to with a big shot(assuming there’s some branches/ unions on the top to stop your climbing rope rolling/ slipping down?) and ascend directly to where you want to go. It’ll be easier to descend using slings as foot holds then.
  5. Another one for neoprene. Try the fishing shops and online.
  6. Bought one from machine mart which was reduced in price because it had been returned? Looked as new in a box. A few years later I noticed it dropped very slowly when loaded😫. Suckered! Too late to return it myself. My suggestion is buy new.
  7. Surprised your moving it on Mick, when I see your videos I get extreme kit envy. You’ll have to take on a few more blokes to replace that😳
  8. Foxy, one of your posts says you sell splitters? Then you go on to say you sell processors - which is it🤔
  9. Any pictures, where are you in the UK?
  10. Because of the problem for land owners to manage tees next to rail lines are Network Rail not responsible for dangerous/ dead/ problem trees adjacent to the network that could fall onto their property? I’m not 100% sure but heard it many moons ago🤔
  11. There was a chap at the last APF show with several crosscut and pit saws he had reconditioned for show and for sale, they were like new. He may be at the next one? Or details could be in the catalogue of the show - someone might still have a copy.
  12. Cleveland Site Safe are that confident with their product they put their nameplate on the outside. A quick google of their website and chances are you’ll get a good idea of the construction and details of security features - I have🤔. I can now “go equipped” with the correct gear to break in! If you’ve got one as your security take the nameplate off and cover the doors with a secondary door so that when they’re carrying out their recce they can’t see exactly what they’re up against. Don’t leave your buildings/ containers open if they can be seen from public areas. Line the inside with multiple layers of different materials. Fit alarms, cameras and obstacle’s to make gaining access to sides and rear difficult. Don’t forget to reinforce the roof.
  13. 3 pages of posts in 9 hours, proving reasonably popular post. Don’t know why there isn’t a dedicated heading for chainsaws on this forum really🤔.
  14. Only sell 40 or 50 cube mts per year to regular customers all from my Arb waste, seasoned minimum of 2 years outside🤔. I must be one of those fly by night wet wood sellers you talk about. I’m sold out this year and still turn people away. And don’t expect it to tail off, in fact I see more demand on the horizon. Thanks for posting a copy of the Firewood Selling Regulations for us all to see but if you took the trouble to read a few more threads on here you’ll see that it’s been thrashed to death already.
  15. As Stubby as already pointed out DC but I’m not so sure because I remember years ago that someone on here said they rode a cock-horse to Banbury Cross to see a fine lady upon a white horse🤔 so there must be white horses?
  16. There are probably 100s of firewood suppliers in my area from large scale to the bloke with a Hi lux who does a load or two at the weekend for beer tokens? There is no way all this can be policed. I only sell a few loads a year to repeat customers. How are they going to catch me? I’m going to chip and tune the transit, fit a bigger turbo, and if I think I’m being followed throw in a few anti surveillance tricks (I’ve watched all of Line of Duty), throw it around the roundabout’s a few times and if I’m still suspicious pull in for a Big Mac 🤔 and watch them pass on by( an old cowboy trick). I make light of it but I think it’s all a load of tosh! This was all orchestrated by a few of the big boys to try and monopolise the Firewood industry - as if they weren’t making enough already from it. They’re creating a cartel. Those smaller outfits that sign up to this don’t think that’s the end of it. I’ve spoken to my mate Boris and he says pay no attention to the rules, don’t let any work colleagues take photos, no messages by text, watts app or Facebook. Don’t employ any body who looks like Dobby cos they can’t be trusted and will try and put the knife in and I should get away with it. He finished by asking for small load of firewood delivered to Chequers cheap for cash🤭.
  17. I’m following this on my old black and white iPad. 🤔
  18. Watching any horses working is a pleasure, watching a team of 7 horses is a sight to behold. The 4 whites all look to be perfectly matched. Thanks for posting.
  19. Is woodchip supplied to biomass burners covered by the new woodsure scheme😳
  20. Is she going on her own, or with a group of women on a hen weekend?
  21. TCF. You’ve shut everything down🤔. But still on a public forum🤭
  22. Brightwells Auctions, weekly.
  23. Why would a tractor PTO splitter be worse for fumes than any other machinery? Can’t think of anything where the exhaust is further and higher away from the operator?
  24. One of those jobs where your “damned if you do and damned if you don’t”. As you say if you don’t do it someone else will so I would try to get the job whilst trying to retain your reputation - that will be difficult because it sounds like the client wants them well and truly trashed😳. BS 3998 is after all only a guide! Taking out some trees may be the option but bare in mind you could open up the remaining ones to prevailing winds they’ve never experienced in the past and that road is already going to effect the shallow root plate. The remaining trees will also eventually grow to try and fill the gaps? You’ll probably have to reduce their height not only for light but to reduce the sail. Interested that one as already snapped off or was it a partial failure, the gnarly twisted one in the first photo looks suspect so could be a candidate for removal? Consider also removing the lot on the grounds side and retain the one’s over the road as whatever you do to appease the client is not going to look pretty and a clump of trees obviously throw less of a shadow through the day than a line of trees? Replant with beach and it won’t be your problem cos you’ll be retired before they’re a problem again. Good luck with it.
  25. I suppose spending a pound and being entertained for a few hours on the internet is good value for money. Have you thought about going on the Antiques Roadshow🤔. Even if you don’t get any info on your axe head it would be worth it just to meet Fiona Bruce👍
