  1. What the hell is happening in this country😫. Time to bring back hanging. Time to start holding the social services, police and local government accountable for their actions or again as in this case - inaction🤔. The people who did nothing need to be charged with dereliction of duty as a minimum.
  2. What do you do with your other chip🤔. Have a look on the tip site for you nearest location.
  3. Try and get a site meeting with him. They’ll probably fob you off saying they’re too busy but be persistent(whilst polite🤓) most are decent people.
  4. RPA and CEZs aside and purely from an observer point of view - by covering an area under the tree with a cabin and a shed even with out excavations for foundations are you not creating a large area under the tree that is impervious to rain water. Surely that isn’t acceptable for the long term health of the tree🤔. Even with down pipes discharging onto the surface of the ground.
  5. Gumtree is popular for scammers to sell on and for thieves to shop on😳. This seller even as an area set aside in the yard for burning off cable🤔. It could of course be all kosher.
  6. I’m not so sure that would be the case in this instance. The tree owners have already been made aware of the state of the tree, that’s why it as to come down. Surely the tree owners are responsible for any damage that happens should it fail/ fall🤔. But I stand( or sit)to be corrected of course🤓.
  7. Series of test boreholes into carpark to investigate constructiont(if the surgery agrees to it)? Temp road and crane stand over the top of existing carpark? Much smaller, lighter tracked crane(spiderlift type?) smaller lighter lifts? Client would find it difficult to get insurance for any damage occurred in works I would of thought🤔 or it would be very expensive. Sounds like the tree as got to come down so there’s got to be a solution🤔
  8. Thanks Stubby, failed my GCSE English. Yes, that’s what I meant to say - is the machine your looking at “stolen”. Apart from serial no’s being in place, do they have original sales receipts, are they a reputable, registered company or individual(still ask to see receipts cos they may think it’s legal but bought a stolen machine unintentionally😳) Is it a lay-by or pub carpark viewing🤔 Are you clearly at their premises or home( could be someone else’s if out of hours or your just out the front or near to it🤔). Don’t be too concerned if they meet you first before going to view the machine because they can be just as suspicious of you as you they🤔. Is it cash, cheque or BACS payment. Don’t entertain western union or uncles in Nigeria😳. I could go on but you know what I mean🤓
  9. First thing I’d be looking out for would be - “Could it have been stolen🤔”.
  10. I would of thought that social workers are not low educated🤔, surely they would have to have reading, righting and rithmatic at least🤔. They probably require a degree in something🤔, some made up subject by a university to make money that’s totally irrelevant 🙄. Seriously, surely they require degrees🤔 or further education! They even push for kids who want to get a trade to have CSE’s or what ever it is these days.
  11. Just make sure it’s not your court case🤔, cost my mate in excess of £14,000 when pulled with red in his unimog for fencing contracting. And he won his case. Still cost him £14,000😳
  12. You can’t beat having mates like that. Do anything for you. Salt of the earth obviously🤓
  13. Wouldn’t touch those Rhino snatch block pulley’s with a barge pole, those shafts with clips either end will probably burst apart eventually, they look sh*t, probably are sh*t, probably Chinese made, you get what you pay for🤔. Look for some ex MOD ones, even used they will be quality compared to those above. The one Mick shows will probably outlast all of us. Looks similar to the Super power winch ones, or they do a quality snatch block similar to the Rhino( but better🙄)one for about £30.00. Try some of the off-road outlet places, Milner, etc.
  14. Hopefully, when these cretins get out of jail and re-offend(which they will) eventually they will get what they deserve😫.
  15. As for big engines in defenders such as the Cummins - expect to break halfshafts, burst propshafts and diffs especially when at max load of 7 tonnes and a big right tree boot🤔. Brakes and suspension would have to be changed. They can all be upgraded of course but that doesn’t come cheap and repair bills will be higher when you go down the non standard route. The best upgrade motor I’ve seen/used is the 2.8 tdi as previously mentioned and it keeps it all reasonably standard.
  16. The 300tdi is a good engine when serviced regularly. Yes is a little bit flat when fully loaded and towing 3.5 ton but how often will you do that. I currently run a 2.4 110 and it’s great for towing fully loaded trailers with the 6 speed box and a responsive engine but I do wonder if anything mechanical breaks how long will it be off the road🤔. I’m also totally rebuilding a 300tdi 130 at present and can’t wait to get it finished because it’ll be better on fuel, down to 20 mpg with 2.4 tdci when towing heavy loads, the 300 would still be in high 20s, and into 30s when running light. No complicated electrics on 300 tdi compared with 2.4tdci and modern Japanese pickups😳, if anything breaks on the 300 I know with my current network of contacts I could get it fixed in less than 48hrs( even a weekend) try that with a newish ranger🤔. An old 300 tdi disco engine would cost you £500 and you could have it sat in corner of workshop as a spare, only a few minor differences to a defender one. Yes, it probably won’t have AC, electric windows, decent heating system, soft recliner seats, water and draughs will come in but it’ll keep going without any potential big repair bill sitting in the glovebox(sorry🤔, there isn’t a glove box🙄) and they will hold their value if looked after.
  17. Why are you more likely to require arm protection in a MEWP🤔
  18. Don’t do it🤔, it’s a dangerous practice and will end in tears. More than a few beavers have been caught out in the past😳
  19. Your only saying that cos it’s green🤓. As Mick says you’d have to be Peter Crouch🤔, the hoppers far too high( actually I’ve noticed hoppers are getting higher on chippers these days, if the designers actually used the chipper as its intended they’d go back to the old Timberwolf 150s type🤔) it might be ok for a bit of Laurel like he’s got in the picture, it looks like that could of been it’s maiden voyage because the setup looks rather new😳, if he was feeding complete 4/5 inch stems into it all day he might change his thoughts🤔. A nice looking trailer though with three way tipping( 4 if you want to tip onto the drawbar😳)
  20. This was on another thread back in 2015? Looks to me the chipper on the back had a self contained motor and didn’t run off the gearbox. It was about for sometime after that show with it appearing on eBay a few times.
  21. Have you just looked because I reckon your a few weeks behind the squirrels, jays and other critters. Some of my trees were loaded this year, some had none. Either way they were all cleaned up weeks ago🤔
  22. As someone as already said - the bigger the pieces the more movement you’ll get. I would season before you plane as it will move when drying out. You’d have to get it down to 10/12 % moisture content before working which would be difficult in your part of the world🤔, kiln drying is the way to go. Then machine. Stack it in the room for a couple of weeks to acclimatise before fixing. The thicker your boards the more stable it would be. Consider sealing ends of boards with bitumen/ or similar ? To slow down the drying process and therefore cracking? I was told about 40 odd years ago that quality oak for building manor houses etc for the landed gentry was left in the wood yard for at least 20 years before being used - then it was seasoned🤔, not sure how true that was, only they could afford to have wood hanging around for so long🙄
  23. There was a defender 110 on eBay several years ago with I think a Timberwolf mounted on the back🤔could be a good option for some jobs, especially if towing a bulk sided tipper trailer🤔
  24. In past winters on dark dreary days I didnt realise they could of been BT cables🤔, several times I’ve come across cables during the clean up and thought we had probably dropped the trees on old washing lines😳
  25. Obviously a competition thing. If your eye site is failing and you can’t see who’s your best climber get yourself along to specsavers- other opticians are available🤔
