  1. 9.3% or 9.7% makes very little difference on the price of fish. What is being talked about is the anti Immigration movement that’s building in Sweden. There’s about 15% of the population on the poverty line. Wait till Sweden as to pay the huge membership fee to join NATO and catch up with some sort of contribution to the party? No matter what picture you paint of Sweden Big J things are far from perfect🤔
  2. Whilst recognising that everyone’s entitled to an opinion it’s interesting to see that nearly all the posts for the last couple of hours over the merets of brexit have been in the main from forum members currently residing abroad. Thanks for you concern for “the old country”. Not sure where Scotland wants to be placed🤔.As far as I’m concerned( as an Englishman still living in England) we’re still suffering from Brexit and will do for years to come for a no of reasons? Firstly Europe are still trying to punish us for having the audacity to leave. They are putting every barrier that can to try and stop us being successful? Knowing full well that if we are then there are other countries that could well follow. Almost as soon as the Brexit paperwork was done we entered a period of a perfect storm with Covid, Ukraine and the economy crashing from a no of reasons. Every country in Europe are having problems and there’s actually very little difference in inflation, interest rates unemployment rates etc between countries such as Germany, France, Italy, Greece, Sweden, others and UK. We chose Brexit and need to stick with it after all Labour are coming over the hill to rescue us from doom 😳.
  3. Brilliant idea. Lots of benefits to living and travelling on a barge. Just think of the laugh you could have when you sail over the top of a “just stop oil activist” who’s glued themselves to the bed of the lock😂
  4. You do live in a really nice part of the world Mr Blair. Spectacular.
  5. Well this post didn’t turn out like I thought it was from the heading🤔. I thought it was going to be something really informative to give me a real useful life skill🙄
  6. Have you got any tickets yet? If your thinking of stump grinding it’s useful to have a saw to reduce stumps where you can to minimise grinding. Same with a mewp - ideally you need the necessary saw tickets to provide a full service. The advantage of a mewp is you can provide a service to others - gutter cleaning, chimneys, roof inspections etc, but you’ll need a 3.5 ton tow vehicle ideally if going for a 18 mtr tracked mewp. Have you spoken to any local arbs? What about finding out if your cut out for it before you jump🤔 and try a few weekends/ hols.
  7. I have not seen any lifetime manual worker that I know retire in their 50s. Maybe gradually reduce days as they approach retirement. Generally the biggest pension earners are still Public servants, government department, teachers, NHS etc, they have a good enough pension to retire early especially if a couple and both public workers have it good with a double pension? These public workers fail to mention they’re pension when threatening strike action when asking for eye watering wage rises when this country is on its arse(one for another thread maybe) Don’t pin your hopes on a large inheritance either because the authorities are coming to pinch it if there’s anyone requiring care and the longer that’s required you’ll be lucky to be left enough to to buy that new Arb digger you’ve lusted after. We’re not all JR trigger-andy Ewings either with mega pay and pension😳 from an industry that’s taking the opportunity to bleed us dry under the smoke screen of a war🤔
  8. Speak to a Morso supplier and ask them. It doesn’t seem to serve any purpose to me?
  9. Surely if you quote to carry out the job including removing Arb waste and client doesn’t pay you’re able to return waste cos technically it’s still their property🤔. I wouldn’t want to be taken to court for theft!
  10. NATO should do what they should of done before Russia invaded and move into Ukraine. It was obvious that Russia was going to invade when they were carrying out exercises prior to the special military operation. NATO should move in as a peace keeping force just like the UN did in Bosnia and Kosovo. Russia used to be treated with a certain amount of respect as a military fighting force? Not any more. They’re poorly trained, poorly equipped and poorly led. They’d be nothing without the threat of nuclear weapons.
  11. So why are you asking on another post what to charge for two blokes, transit and load of arisings🤔. Rates could go up or down by end of next year! Some of my clients take a day or two to give me the thumbs up but not a year😳.
  12. Doesn’t Chris White, Treevolution in Edinburgh still run training? He’s a top bloke. Colleges are a waste of time for quick, short courses.
  13. The only time the French were happy for the UK to patrol their beaches was June 1944? At present they will not let us patrol their channel coastline. If they did a company of Gurkhas slashing rubber boats with their Kukri’s would stop it in a week. I believe the only place we have a presence is the Chunel?
  14. I’m not spending all night at guessing games🙄, Come on who is it? As for turning the boats around intercept them before they set sail - issue every French copper and border guard with a long handled fork or bale pike🤔
  15. I know of one chap who’s peeled off a tree on two separate occasions and cannot find any accident report on either from Google. The second one he was seriously injured and hospitalised and working for a client who I’m sure would of informed the HSE. His groundy was looking the other way at the time? My point is this - as others have said if you’ve screwed up you’ll keep quiet, also on the other hand perhaps two lines would of helped him. He’s back at work thankfully but apparently not quite as confident as he was. And before you ask - it’s not me.
  16. Serco are offering landlords minimum 5 year rental contracts to house migrants and will completely refurbish the property at the end of it? It will probably have to be rebuilt as well🤔.
  17. Russia started their special military operation with the aim of capturing the whole of Ukraine and ridding it of all the Nazis? However they levelled huge areas from day one with their missiles and artillery, they’ve destroyed a lot of the infrastructure such as power, water, communications, roads, bridges, runways, docks, factories, etc? This is something a modern military command from the western world would not plan on because if you want to keep the territory or hand it over to a pro west regime you would want it to function as a country as soon as possible and not have to pour hundreds of billions into that country to rebuild it, which is what it will take for Ukraine. This was learnt in the second gulf war. I’ve always had my doubts on what Putin/ Russia really wanted from the start. They’ve pillaged or destroyed everywhere they’ve been. Perhaps they will pull out of the four regions they’ve tried to take and hit it with a few tactical nukes and deny it to Ukraine as well🤔.
  18. Must be plenty of hollow trees about🤔
  19. When the protests against the banning of fox hunting took place in London several of the countryside alliance and others were batten charged and received a right battering from the police under the direction from Blair, with several put in hospital. Don’t see this happening with these yogurt eating lefties and associated journo’s.
  20. Funny how she was on hand to report what was happening, as it happened? Did she have prior knowledge that it was going to take place, was she complicit in the activity(which was as it happens - unlawful !) did she incite them at all for the storey, is she one on them. Fortunately I have not been affected by these tossers - yet! Your unlikely to be affected either as you sit in your Yurt on The Moors above Leek or wherever. But we know that thousands are. As I’ve said before are these people living totally off grid in caves totally independent and unreliant of anything that’s Oil/ petro chemical based. Let me guess 🤔, answer - NO. Bloody hypocrite’s. eggs, you post a lot of sense and more often than not I agree with you, this time I don’t.
  21. A copper got hit off his bike by a truck and could of been seriously injured or killed all because a bunch of dickheads climb on a gantry above a motorway. The press are giving them the publicity they’re looking for. The police and the Uk laws are also protecting these people because I’m sure there’s a few people in the traffic that would like to hang these protestors from said gantries🤔. Can’t see the French police putting up with this crap. I think the police are being quite restrained. If it was the Countryside Alliance protesting in London they’d be battering them with batons and tear-gas - fact - they did😫.
  22. Surely you’ll only go bust if your asset’s are less than what you owe and someone wants their money back from either a cash loan(banks) or in terms of kit on finance and you can’t service the re-payments. Smaller operators with little or no kit on finance or loans will just have a shorter week. I’m not trying to make light of it but going bust and having less work are two different things as far as I’m concerned.
  23. Don’t waste your time reading this book, I already know who did it🤔. It was the ‘do as ya likies’ obviously🙄.
