  1. Roadworks nearby, Makes me smile every time I pass it.
  2. Saw this today, pulled over thinking it was storm damaged. 2 guys in jeans and a 261 tied in the tree. This is classic pikey.
  3. Nice one Paul. I started my new saws on motomix, but changed to aspen as I couldn't find the info on motomix. [emoji106]
  4. Have you got a link for that? I can't find it.
  5. Worked on various "eco" jobs. Mainly sycamore felling with stems bored and slashed with saws. Different angles and heights allow different environments for insects etc. Leaving bark on allows another habitat. Piling cordwood with a few shovels of soil thrown in and some turf on top is also good for biodiversity. [emoji106]
  6. Motomix is petrol, not acetylate.
  7. There was a man who worked for the Post Office whose job it was to process all the mail that had illegible addresses. One day, a letter came addressed in a shaky handwriting to God with no address. He thought he should open it to see what it was about. The letter read: Dear God, I am an 83 year old widow, living on a very small pension. Yesterday someone stole my purse. It had £100 in it, which was all the money I had until my next pension cheque. Next Sunday is Christmas, and I had invited two of my friends over for dinner. Without that money, I have nothing to buy food with. I have no family to turn to, and you are my only hope. Can you please help me? Sincerely, Edna The postal worker was touched. He showed the letter to all the other workers. Each one dug into his or her wallet and came up with a few pounds. By the time he made the rounds, he had collected £96, which they put into an envelope and sent to the woman. The rest of the day, all the workers felt a warm glow thinking of Edna and the dinner she would be able to share with her friends. Christmas came and went. A few days later, another letter came from the same old lady to God. All the workers gathered around while the letter was opened. It read: Dear God, How can I ever thank you enough for what you did for me? Because of your gift of love, I was able to fix a glorious dinner for my friends. We had a very nice day and I told my friends of your wonderful gift. By the way, there was £4 missing. I think it must have been those cunts at the Post Office.
  8. Chelsea tractor drivers
  9. That's what I used to think. Can't find the word acetylate anywhere in the brochure.
  10. I don't think stihl motomix is acetylate petrol. Just ethanol free. A better title for this thread would be "Why aren't you using aspen?"
  11. Be careful, those are very different saws. 088 high torque low rpm 10k, 064 lower torque high rpm 12k. Basically mismatched. How big is your bar? As the 088 should run fine alone.
  12. Standard 404 full chisel, re cut on a stihl grinder to 0 degrees.
  13. I've got my cs32 exam next week. No training. Only been doing this for nearly twelve years. One tree straight fell, one tree to be hung up and winched down. Breakdown of crown safely. Did my cs30/31 early last year with 3 newbies and our teacher a good old forestry boy. Second day I got sent off to fell trees and cut up windblown. For the whole week until assessment. Assessor took me aside and said " show me want you've been shown on the course, then on Monday carry on as before". We all passed, but I wouldn't have let any of the newbs near a pro work site. They still needed to be taught so much. It's quite scary.
  14. It's about the rpm in the wood. 051/75/76 about 8krpm. 880 about 10-11krpm. Just use the 880 alone.
  15. Bury the dinosaws on eBay, get an ms880. You won't need two power heads. Higher torque and 10-11k rpm in the wood. 051 and 075 are both solid saws but are prone to vibration problems. The 075 particularly. Did you make the mill? Looks good and solid. [emoji106]
  16. The biggest problem once you've used aspen for a while is using normal pump petrol with someone else's tools. It reeks. I'd never go back. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  17. Stihl HOS grinder is what I use. But they've stopped selling them I believe. The stihl USG is the one they sell now. It's better as you can sharpen other tools too. But it's rather expensive. Make sure you get a solid metal frame model, as the cheap plastic ones are complete shiiite.
  18. Good stuff. [emoji106] What are those powerheads? 051 or075/76
  19. Many years ago I spent an evening shooting rats with an ex army sniper. Only air rifles at 30 yards. I don't think I got a shot off. He'd see, lift his rifle, aim and fire before I'd turned to see the rat. He didn't miss. Bit of a massacre. Peanut butter on a plank. [emoji106]
  20. I found driving 100mm screws into oak difficult with a dewalt 18v driver even with pilot holes, but the impact driver puts them in without pilots. Heard good reports about Milwaukee.
  21. I don't like husky saws. But the 346 is a little pitbull. [emoji106]

    Very fine wood. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
