  1. Logosol sawmills use it. What sprocket are you using?
  2. Don't use them on the tops of walls! Cowboys who put our neighbours fence up used them on topping stones. 1 month later the wall and fence were going south. Otherwise they are good bits of kit. [emoji106]
  3. Send a form to all the dead people asking if they mind being shaded by the yew tree... [emoji57][emoji12][emoji848][emoji23]
  4. It's on the list now, will be down very soon. By professionals. [emoji106]
  5. Stihl bio oil is what I use, never had a problem. Last non functional oiler I had was ten years ago. Normally non or low oiling is a mechanical fault. But, on most of your saws even new ones, I would suspect foul play.
  6. No, but saw this today near a job. this is on a 60' ash leaning towards houses 40' away. the cuts are about 4" deep all round. ?
  7. Who on here was using aspen cans for storage? Had a cool photo of lots of shelves?
  8. Roadworks nearby, Makes me smile every time I pass it.
  9. Saw this today, pulled over thinking it was storm damaged. 2 guys in jeans and a 261 tied in the tree. This is classic pikey.
  10. Nice one Paul. I started my new saws on motomix, but changed to aspen as I couldn't find the info on motomix. [emoji106]
  11. Have you got a link for that? I can't find it.
  12. Worked on various "eco" jobs. Mainly sycamore felling with stems bored and slashed with saws. Different angles and heights allow different environments for insects etc. Leaving bark on allows another habitat. Piling cordwood with a few shovels of soil thrown in and some turf on top is also good for biodiversity. [emoji106]
  13. Motomix is petrol, not acetylate.
  14. There was a man who worked for the Post Office whose job it was to process all the mail that had illegible addresses. One day, a letter came addressed in a shaky handwriting to God with no address. He thought he should open it to see what it was about. The letter read: Dear God, I am an 83 year old widow, living on a very small pension. Yesterday someone stole my purse. It had £100 in it, which was all the money I had until my next pension cheque. Next Sunday is Christmas, and I had invited two of my friends over for dinner. Without that money, I have nothing to buy food with. I have no family to turn to, and you are my only hope. Can you please help me? Sincerely, Edna The postal worker was touched. He showed the letter to all the other workers. Each one dug into his or her wallet and came up with a few pounds. By the time he made the rounds, he had collected £96, which they put into an envelope and sent to the woman. The rest of the day, all the workers felt a warm glow thinking of Edna and the dinner she would be able to share with her friends. Christmas came and went. A few days later, another letter came from the same old lady to God. All the workers gathered around while the letter was opened. It read: Dear God, How can I ever thank you enough for what you did for me? Because of your gift of love, I was able to fix a glorious dinner for my friends. We had a very nice day and I told my friends of your wonderful gift. By the way, there was £4 missing. I think it must have been those cunts at the Post Office.

  16. That's what I used to think. Can't find the word acetylate anywhere in the brochure.
  17. I don't think stihl motomix is acetylate petrol. Just ethanol free. A better title for this thread would be "Why aren't you using aspen?"
  18. Oops
  19. Be careful, those are very different saws. 088 high torque low rpm 10k, 064 lower torque high rpm 12k. Basically mismatched. How big is your bar? As the 088 should run fine alone.
  20. Standard 404 full chisel, re cut on a stihl grinder to 0 degrees.
  21. I've got my cs32 exam next week. No training. Only been doing this for nearly twelve years. One tree straight fell, one tree to be hung up and winched down. Breakdown of crown safely. Did my cs30/31 early last year with 3 newbies and our teacher a good old forestry boy. Second day I got sent off to fell trees and cut up windblown. For the whole week until assessment. Assessor took me aside and said " show me want you've been shown on the course, then on Monday carry on as before". We all passed, but I wouldn't have let any of the newbs near a pro work site. They still needed to be taught so much. It's quite scary.
  22. It's about the rpm in the wood. 051/75/76 about 8krpm. 880 about 10-11krpm. Just use the 880 alone.
  23. Get the professionals in.
  24. Bury the dinosaws on eBay, get an ms880. You won't need two power heads. Higher torque and 10-11k rpm in the wood. 051 and 075 are both solid saws but are prone to vibration problems. The 075 particularly. Did you make the mill? Looks good and solid. [emoji106]
